I look for the Pirates to really catch the Rockies by surprise. It’s the last series before the All-Star break, and it’s easy for the home team not in contention to be thinking about vacation plans rather than a young, scrappy team.

Marquez is awful at home, and I’d be willing to go PIRATES OVER 2.5 FIRST 5 INNINGS RUNS (-105) and PIRATES ML (+122).

Truth be told, their scuffling offense hasn’t exactly given bettors much confidence. Of course, baseball is a game of averages, and a breakout is likely right around the corner.

The UNDER 11 (+100) is the lean here as the Pirates haven’t scored any runs in the first two games of this series. That’s expected to change here, but Gray looked sharp last time out. And Kuhl has been humming along for the Pirates, too, so a double-digit run total looks to be unlikely.

So expect to have butterflies all evening long until the final out, which is typical for a Coors game anyway.

The OVER 11.5 (-105) is the best play on the board in this one as both Anderson and Freeland have been hit hard most of the season. This one could resemble a beer-league softball game score when the dust settles.
