Florida baseball opened up its Southeastern Conference schedule on Thursday, May 16, with a 3-0 victory over the visiting Alabama Crimson Tide — then ranked No. 24 in the nation while the Gators were ranked No. 5 — inside Condron Family Ballpark in Gainesville, Florida.

[autotag]Brandon Sproat[/autotag] got the start for the Orange and Blue in the opener of the three-game series and did not disappoint, hurling a complete-game shutout allowing just one hit and a pair of walks while striking out 11 ‘Bama batters. Freshman [autotag]Cade Kurland[/autotag] broke the game open in the sixth inning with a go-ahead, two-run homer to left field and that was all the Gators needed to prevail.

The Orange and Blue looked solid throughout this one and finally loosened up enough to find some flow.

[autotag]Will Richard[/autotag] led the way for Florida scoring 24 points along with five rebounds and one assist while [autotag]Riley Kugel[/autotag] added 19 of his own plus six boards and three dimes. [autotag]Myreon Jones[/autotag] was the only other Gator to join them in double-figures, dropping 14 points along with an eye-popping 12 rebounds and four assists.
