Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Golden State Warriors at Phoenix Suns odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The top two teams in the Western Conference meet Tuesday when the Golden State Warriors (18-2) face the Phoenix Suns (17-3) at Footprint Center. Tip-off is set for 10 p.m. ET Below, we look at the Warriors vs. Suns odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions, and bets.

Golden State has won 14 of its last 15 games and seven straight, which includes three consecutive double-digit blowouts over playoff teams from last year. The Warriors are 15-4-1 ATS and 6-14 O/U with the best net rating (plus-13.6).

Phoenix has won 16 games in a row with the last two being road victories over both New York basketball teams. The Suns are 11-9 ATS and 9-11 O/U with the third-best net rating.

These teams split last year’s season series 1-1 with the home team winning and covering both games and either side of the total cashing. However, G Steph Curry only suited up for the game Golden State beat Phoenix.

Warriors at Suns odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 116, Warriors 111

Money line

BET the SUNS (-135) since they are playing on their home floor and Phoenix has much better ball security.

For instance, G Chris Paul is a consummate floor general and the Suns are eighth in turnover rate. Poor ball security plays right into CP3’s strengths. Paul will be able to dictate the pace of this game and get his players into advantageous positions.

CP3 has also been one of the better defenders of Curry historically. Curry hasn’t scored 30 points in his last nine games against CP3 and has been held below 44.4% shooting in six of those games.

Golden State can get a little clumsy with all of its off-the-ball movement and the Warriors have the fourth-worst turnover rate in the Association. Also, Golden State is 24th in points off of turnovers allowed per game.

Both teams also get out in transition at a top-eight frequency but Phoenix has better offensive and defensive efficiency in transition.

BET 1.25 units on the SUNS (-135).

Against the spread

PASS since Phoenix’s money line is only 27 cents on the dollar more expensive than the Suns -2.5 (-108). I’m confident enough that Phoenix will win outright and don’t want to fuss with the points.

For what it’s worth, according to Pregame.com and the Yahoo! Sports App, the Warriors are getting nearly 90% of the action. So, there’s a “fade the market” angle in betting the Suns.

Over/Under

Slight “LEAN” to the OVER 221.5 (-112) for a small wager — if at all — because I much prefer the Phoenix side more than the total in this contest. That said, both teams rank in the top-three of effective field goal shooting and like to push the pace.

My concern with the betting the Over in this game is a vast majority of the market is taking the Over and I could see CP3 slowing this game down to keep the Warriors out of rhythm.

Phoenix Suns at Washington Wizards odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Phoenix Suns at Washington Wizards NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Phoenix Suns (7-3) are in the nation’s capital Monday for a 7 p.m. ET game with the Washington Wizards (2-8). Below, we analyze the Suns-Wizards NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Phoenix earned an impressive road win vs. the Indiana Pacers 125-117 Saturday. The Suns moved the ball better than the Pacers, throwing 33 assists to Indiana’s 23 and committing just three turnovers. Phoenix SF Mikal Bridges scored a game-high, and career-high, 34 points on 12-for-18 shooting (6-for-8 from behind the arc) vs. the Pacers.

The Wizards snuck in the backdoor with a plus-13-point fourth quarter in a 128-124 home loss to the Miami Heat as 6.5-point underdogs Saturday. Washington was without PG Russell Westbrook and the NBA’s leader in points per game in SG Bradley Beal.

These teams split last season’s meetings with each winning and covering a game apiece. Phoenix SG Devin Booker had 27 points in both of the Suns-Wizards games last season and Beal put up 32 points in the only meeting he played in (a 140-132 Wizards win Nov. 27, 2019).

Suns at Wizards: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Suns 121, Wizards 109

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. Laying -275 with the Suns or any NBA team in the regular season is a no-go for me.

Phoenix is the right side here because it needs to rack up wins in a competitive West and newly acquired PG Chris Paul will make sure the unproven Suns aren’t overlooking the Wizards regardless of their opponent’s situation.

Against the spread (ATS)

GIMME SUNS -6.5 (-110) for 1 unit. Phoenix is quietly one of the best teams in the league to start the season: 7-3 ATS, third in net rating and fourth in effective field-goal percentage.

The Suns exceeding bookmakers’ expectations by an NBA’s best plus-5.6-ATS margin is exceptionally noteworthy because of CP3’s cache and how Phoenix ended its regular season in the Orlando Bubble.

Let’s not forget that the Suns were a perfect 8-0 in the bubble and missed the play-in due to a tiebreaker but were expected to be a contender for the play-in tournament at the end of this season.

Well, it’s only been 10 games but, if Phoenix fell to the 7-10 seeds and had to clinch a playoff berth via play-in tournament, it would be a disappointment.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 230.5 (-110) is the play because even though we like Phoenix to win, and it plays at the slowest tempo in the league, Washington’s defense is that bad.

The previous four Suns-Wizards games have gone Over the total and all three of Phoenix’s Overs so far this season have come in the last four games. The Suns can put up points and if Washington isn’t going to provide much resistance, what’s stopping Phoenix from dropping 120-plus?

Phoenix Suns at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Phoenix Suns at Indiana Pacers NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Phoenix Suns (6-3) stop by the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Saturday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off against the Indiana Pacers (6-2). Below, we analyze the Suns-Pacers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

The Suns squandered a 23-point lead in a 111-105 overtime loss last night to the Detroit Pistons as 8-point favorites. Phoenix lost because of the free throw discrepancy: The Suns made just 6-of-13 free throws while the Pistons were 25-of-29 from the charity stripe. Newly acquired Suns PG Chris Paul has struggled offensively out the gate, averaging just 13 points per game on 41.2% shooting and scoring 20 or more points in just two of his nine games played.

Indiana has won two in a row coming into Saturday’s game, which includes a 114-107 home win vs. the Houston Rockets Wednesday as a 3-point favorite and a 118-116 overtime win at the New Orleans Pelicans on Jan. 4 as a 2-point underdog. Pacers PG Malcolm Brogdon balled out in both games, combining for 56 points and 18 assists in both wins.

Suns at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 109, Suns 101

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE even though I like the Pacers in this spot, and it’s right at the max I’m willing to wager for an outright win. It is fringe, though, so if you decided to bet Indiana to win, I cannot be mad at you. However, I’ll be greedy and bet the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

While the Suns’ backcourt of CP3 and Devin Booker have the more valuable basketball cards, Indiana’s backcourt is better. Pacers SG Victor Oladipo is starting to recapture his All-Star form after battling leg injuries for a couple of seasons, and PG Malcolm Brogdon is quietly having a career year.

Brogdon is Indiana’s leading scorer (23.6 points per game) on 51.8% field-goal and 47.2% on threes and leading assist man (7.0 assists per game). Also, Brogdon has outplayed CP3 when these two have met: Brogdon’s team is 4-1 and CP3 has had single-digit point totals in three of those games including the last two, according to LandOfBasketball.com.

Plus the Suns are in the second of a back-to-back, and last night’s game went into overtime. BET PACERS -3.5 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 215.5 (-105) is the play on the total. The Suns and Pacers are tied with the New York Knicks for the fourth-best defensive rating and Phoenix has a 2-7 O/U record. But hurry up because the market has already bet this total down from the 217-point opener, and we don’t want to lose too much closing line value.
