Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Phoenix Suns (1-0) and Los Angeles Lakers (0-1) meet Thursday at Crypto.com Arena. Tip-off is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Lakers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting of 2023; split last season’s series 2-2

The Suns head to Los Angeles in a bad way. The good news is that Phoenix opened at Golden State with a 108-104 win as a 3-point underdog as the Under (235.5) cashed Tuesday, but it cost them dearly. G Devin Booker went for 32 points, but he is listed as doubtful for Thursday’s game due to a sore foot. G Bradley Beal (back), who missed the opener, is also doubtful.

The Lakers were on the short end of a 119-107 loss against the Nuggets in Denver as 5-point underdogs as the Under (229.5) connected Tuesday. F Jarred Vanderbilt (heel) will miss Thursday’s game.

Suns at Lakers picks and predictions

Prediction

Lakers 114, Suns 104

Moneyline

The Lakers (-225) will cost you more than 2 times your potential return, and that’s pretty expensive, even if the Suns (+180) are playing shorthanded without its 2 starting backcourt All-Stars.

PASS, and look to the spread instead.

Against the spread

The LAKERS -5.5 (-110) are the play at home. The stars will be out, the Lakers made it out of the Denver game in relatively healthy shape, and they’ll be able to bounce back and level their record against the banged up Suns.

Yes, the Suns +5.5 (-110) still have F Kevin Durant, C Jusuf Nurkic, F Josh Okogie, etc., but Booker accounted for 32 points in the opening game, and he was the most dynamic player on the court. Without him, Phoenix is going to be in a bad way.

Over/Under

UNDER 223.5 (-110) is the lean, especially with Booker missing for the Suns. He accounted for nearly 30% of the team’s offensive production. With the entire backcourt out, and either G Jordan Goodwin or F Eric Gordon sliding into the starting lineup, that’s not good for the offense. Gordon was 4-for-16 shooting off the bench in his team debut Tuesday.

Phoenix Suns at Golden State Warriors odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Phoenix Suns at Golden State Warriors odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Phoenix Suns and the Golden State Warriors open the 2023-24 NBA regular season at Chase Center in San Francisco on Tuesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Warriors odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Suns won 3-1 last season

The Suns added 3-time All-Star G Bradley Beal in the offseason, pairing him with G Devin Booker and F Kevin Durant for arguably one of the better ‘Big 3s’ in the NBA. Coach Monty Williams was replaced by NBA champion coach Frank Vogel, who secured a trophy with the Los Angeles Lakers in the bubble in 2020.

In addition to Beal and Vogel, Gs Grayson Allen, Eric Gordon, and Cs Drew Eubanks and Yusuf Nurkic are other new faces in the Valley of the Sun.

For the Warriors, they were also busy retooling or restocking the roster in the offseason. Veteran Chris Paul comes over from the Suns via the Washington Wizards, replacing G Jordan Poole, while F Dario Saric is also a new face.

Lastly, Golden State F Draymond Green (ankle) will miss Tuesday’s opener after suffering a sprained left ankle in an offseason workout.

Suns at Warriors picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 121, Warriors 117

Moneyline

The SUNS (-105) have had the number of the Warriors (-115) in recent seasons, winning 4 of the past 5 meetings straight up. In addition, Green is a big missing piece of the defense for Golden State, so Phoenix should be able to have its way inside.

Plus, this Suns team should be much more prolific on offense, getting a little younger with Beal, as opposed to CP3. The Warriors are still dangerous, and will win plenty of games this season, but Phoenix has a formidable Big 3, and a retooled lineup ready to make plenty of noise.

Against the spread

Playing the Suns +1.5 (-120) makes no sense, as that’s a lot of chalk to eat for basically just a single point. Unless you’re absolutely, positively convinced the Warriors -1.5 (+100) are going to win by just a single point, play Phoenix straight up instead.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 234.5 (-115) is worth playing lightly. The absence of Green should open up more access to the paint for the Warriors.

In addition to going high on the total, consider going DEVIN BOOKER – OVER 26.5 (-110), as he should be able to have him way without Green pestering the Suns players. Booker averaged 31.0 points per game in 3 games against Golden State last season, hitting 53.6% of his field-goal attempts.

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Nuggets at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 125, Nuggets 119

Moneyline

In 9 matchups between the Suns and Nuggets between the regular season and postseason, the home team has won every game.

The Nuggets have not won a game in Phoenix since October 2021.

The Suns have averaged 123.0 points per game in their last 3 home games against the Nuggets.

Phoenix (-160) will push the series to Game 7 but it should win by margin so there is no need to pay the extra juice with the moneyline.

PASS.

Against the spread

With only a 3.5-point spread, it shouldn’t be too difficult for the winner to cover on Thursday. Every game in this series has been decided by at least 5 points.

The outright winner has covered the spread in all 5 games.

BET SUNS -3.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Game 5 had the Under hit but the 2 games in Phoenix this series have had totals of at least 235 points.

The winner has scored at least 118 points in every game except Game 2.

Four of the Suns’ last 5 games at home have had totals higher than tonight’s projection.

BET OVER 226.5 (-110).

After the Nuggets took the first 2 games of the series at home, the Suns bounced back with 2 wins in Phoenix.

Suns at Nuggets picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 123, Nuggets 118

Moneyline

It has now been 8 straight matchups in which the home team has won. Between the Suns and Nuggets, the last time the road team won was a 140-130 OT win by the Suns in March 2022.

The Nuggets were a league-best 34-7 at home in the regular season and are 5-0 on their home court in the postseason. While the Suns are 0-2 in Denver this series, they were 2-0 on the road in their 1st-round series.

Booker and Durant are carrying the Suns with their scoring and, even with Paul out, the offensive pace is maintained with G Cameron Payne in the starting lineup.

The Suns will get the upset.

BET SUNS (+180).

Against the spread

In every game of the series, the outright winner covered the spread. But we are banking on a Phoenix upset win, which is a significantly better payout than the spread.

PASS.

Over/Under

The Over has hit in 3 of the 4 games this series and in 7 of the last 10 games between the 2 teams. Excluding Game 3, the winner has scored over 120 points. In fact, the winner has scored 119 or more points in 8 of the last 10 matchups, which makes going Over 227.5 fairly easy to do.

BET OVER 227.5 (-110).

Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Denver Nuggets at Phoenix Suns Game 3 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Nuggets visit the Phoenix Suns meet Friday for the 3rd game of their Western Conference semifinals series. The Nuggets lead 2-0. Tip-off at Footprint Center is at 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Suns odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Nuggets pulled away late for a 97-87 win Monday in Game 2 after blowing out the Suns 125-107 in the series opener Saturday. C Nikola Jokic is averaging 31.5 points, 17.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game to start the series.

The Suns have struggled to score this series. The Suns got just 14 points outside of G Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton and F Kevin Durant in Game 2. Things won’t get any easier as G Chris Paul was injured as is expected to miss at least a week.

Nuggets at Suns picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 109, Nuggets 106

Moneyline

The Suns must win this game to have any shot to get back in the series but Paul being sidelined will make things difficult.

The Nuggets won by 10 in Game 2 with G Jamal Murray shooting only 3-for-15.

The Suns are 30-14 at home this season (including the playoffs) and the home team has won the last 6 matchups between these teams. The Nuggets are only 20-23 on the road, including the postseason.

Expect a Suns bounce-back win, but the moneyline is too steep to play considering this should be a tight game.

PASS.

Against the spread

The Nuggets have covered the spread in 5 straight games against the Suns. They are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

The Suns are only 3-7 ATS in their last 10.

Expect a close game that goes down to the final buzzer.

BET NUGGETS +4.5 (-115).

Over/Under

Neither game in this series has reached 225 points.

Only 1 of the last 5 matchups between them has reached 225 or more.

Five of the Nuggets’ 7 postseason games have stayed below 225 total points.

Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets Game 2 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns try to rebound against the Denver Nuggets Monday in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.  Tip from Ball Arena is set for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Nuggets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Series: Nuggets lead 1-0

The Suns were dominated in Game 1 as they fell 125-107. F Kevin Durant did his part with 29 points and 14 boards, but it was his 7 turnovers that he was more focused on after the game. The Suns turned the ball over 16 times, which led to 18 points for Denver. Phoenix only forced 9 turnovers and capitalized with 7 points.

Denver G Jamal Murray was the star in Game 1, dropping 34 points with 9 dimes and 5 boards. He was on fire from distance, going 6-for-10 from behind the arc. C Nikola Jokic had 24 points, 19 boards and 5 assists, and F Aaron Gordon had 23 points. Denver set the track-meet tempo and continuously hit shots.

Suns at Nuggets picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 121, Suns 114

Moneyline

Denver has youth on its side in the Mile High City, and Phoenix will have to take care of the ball and slow down the tempo. The Nuggets have beaten the Suns 3 straight times in Denver. They’re a deep team, and they went 34-7 at home during the regular season. This series will go 6 or 7, but Denver protects home-court advantage Monday.

But we’ll PASS on the ML and look to the spread.

Against the spread

It’s tough to use recent historical data because Jokic didn’t play in the final 2 regular-season meetings, which the Suns won. And G Devin Booker was out for Denver’s Jan. 11 rout at home. The Suns are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings with Denver. They didn’t look comfortable in the thin Colorado air, and because of that, Denver has arguably the biggest home-court advantage in the league.

I’ll LEAN NUGGETS -4.5 (-105).

Over/Under

Five of the last 7 games have gone Over between the teams. The Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Denver as well. The Suns haven’t scored fewer than 107 points in the last 10 games, and they’ll probably need that for the Over to cash. So I’m cool with the OVER 228.5 (-115).

Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Phoenix Suns at Denver Nuggets Game 1 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Phoenix Suns visit the Denver Nuggets Saturday for Game 1 of their 2nd-round playoff action. Tip-off from Ball Arena is set for 8:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Nuggets odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Phoenix comes into this series after beating the Los Angeles Clippers in 5 games in Round 1. Phoenix dropped Game 1 at home vs. Los Angeles but then proceeded to win 4 straight. A large part of their success so far has been the play of G Devin Booker, who is averaging 37.2 PPG and 2.6 steals per game in the playoffs, which both lead the team.

Denver was also able to pull off the gentlemen’s sweep in Round 1 vs. the Minnesota Timberwolves. The duo of G Jamal Murray and C Nikola Jokic has been successful thus far in the postseason, with Murray averaging 27.2 PPG and Jokic averaging 26.2 PPG, 12.4 RPG and 9 APG.

LEAN SUNS (+125).

This is the best opportunity Phoenix will have to take a game in Denver. Phoenix relies heavily on their stars and HC Monty Williams plays a very short rotation, because of this fatigue will start to weigh in. Look for Phoenix to take advantage of Jokic in the pick and roll and ride that strategy to victory.

Against the spread

BET SUNS +3.5 (-110).

The Suns are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Saturday games, and the Nuggets are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference semi-final games. Phoenix is also 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Denver.

Over/Under

BET OVER 226.5 (-110).

For Phoenix the Over is 6-1-1 in their last 8 overall and 9-1 in their last 10 following an ATS loss. For Denver, the Over is 3-0-1 in their last 4 overall. The Over is also 5-5 in the last 10 head-to-head meetings.

BET SUNS -12.5 (-110).

Suns at Clippers picks and predictions

Prediction

Suns 120, Clippers 108

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Clippers shouldn’t stand a chance, and despite being at home, +260 is not lofty enough odds to play them to win outright. Meanwhile, the Suns (-350) are too expensive to play.

Against the spread

BET SUNS -7.5 (-110).

No George and Leonard takes a good chunk of the Clippers offense out of the picture, and it hurts their defense even more.

As mentioned, the Clippers received 72 points from Powell and Westbrook in Game 3. Powell was 7-for-12 from deep, and the Clippers shot 54.2% from the field, 6.5% better than Phoenix, and still lost by 5.

Expect regression to the mean from the Clippers, and the Suns should be able to blow them out in this battle.

The Suns have topped 120 in 2 straight matchups, and they should get there again while the Clippers start to struggle. Ultimately, TAKE SUNS -7.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 225.5 (-110).

There was a combined 62 3-pointers taken and 71 free throws in Game 3. These teams shoot from deep often and are aggressive in driving.

With the talent on the floor, especially on the Phoenix side, points should come in bunches, as they already have.

The Over is 2-0-1 in the series, and the Over is 10-1-1 in the Clippers’ last 12 games. The Suns have gone Over in 5 of their last 6 games as well.

BACK OVER 225.5 (-110).

Phoenix Suns at LA Clippers Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Phoenix Suns at LA Clippers Game 3 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The LA Clippers host the Phoenix Suns at Crypto.com Arena Thursday in Game 3 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. Tip is set for 10:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Suns vs. Clippers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Clippers beat the Suns 115-110 to open the series, covering as an 8-point road underdog. Game 2 was a different story as the Suns covered the 8-point spread in winning 123-109.

LA ended the season 40-42 against the spread (ATS). However, it didn’t finish strong, posting just a 2-5 ATS record in its last 7 games (playoffs included. The Clippers are led by F Kawhi Leonard, who has averaged 34.5 points per game (PPG) in the 2 games.

Suns at Clippers picks and predictions

Prediction

Clippers 116, Suns 114

Moneyline

SPRINKLE CLIPPERS (+120).

Several Clippers cannot play worse than they have through the 1st 2 games. G Norman Powell, one of the best bench scorers in the league, is shooting 14.3% from deep. G Russell Westbrook is shooting 34.3% from the field. Those will improve. The Clippers are 23-18 at home this season. With Leonard, a proven champion, leading the way, expect them to bounce back here.

Against the spread

BET CLIPPERS +2.5 (-110).

On the other side, Suns F Kevin Durant, Booker and C Deandre Ayton are all shooting 50% or higher.

They should slow down as the Clippers, who have typically been solid defensively, come out at home. The Suns haven’t necessarily been great on the road lately, going just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games.

Take the CLIPPERS +2.5 (-110).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 226.5 (-110).

The Suns have gone Over in 4 of their last 5 and pushed the lone one that didn’t go Over. Phoenix was 42-39-1 O/U in the regular season. Both teams have ultra-efficient scorers as well.

Los Angeles is 9-1-1 O/U in its last 11 games as well. Expect both teams to keep their scoring alive as both teams have hit or gone over 109 in both games. Back the OVER 226.5 (-110).
