Houston Rockets at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Houston Rockets at Philadelphia 76ers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia 76ers (18-10) host the Houston Rockets (11-16) Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center for a 7:30 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Rockets-76ers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Houston has lost six straight since C Christian Wood was sidelined due to injury Feb. 6, and four of those losses were by at least 12 points. In their previous six games, the Rockets are last in total rebounding percentage and 22nd in defensive rating.

Philadelphia finished its four-game trip out West at 1-3 straight up and against the spread, and has lost three straight contests entering Wednesday. All three of those losses were to winning teams and the last was against the red-hot Utah Jazz without C Joel Embiid.

Rockets at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 119, Rockets 102

Money line (ML)

PASS on the money line because even though Philadelphia is the right side, there’s no way you can justify laying -580 on a regular-season win.

Against the spread (ATS)

I really enjoyed how the Rockets were playing prior to Wood’s injury but the absence of an elite rebounding and shot-blocking big like Wood is a major factor when facing a legitimate MVP candidate in Embiid.

Not only has Houston’s defense cratered since losing Wood but the 76ers have played well against good defenses. According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Philadelphia is 5-2 with the third-highest offensive efficiency and a plus-4.2 spread differential vs. bottom 10 defenses.

The Rockets are 1-7 with the second-to-last offensive efficiency and a minus-6.7 spread differential vs. bottom 10 defenses. Beyond this, there isn’t a situational-based argument backing Houston here. The 76ers are returning home after a road trip, Embiid is rested and the Rockets are too banged-up.

lean 76ERS -10.5 (-115) for a half-unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

While there are a bunch of individual statistics that show how good Wood has been defensively he’s also important for the Rockets offensively.

According to CleaningTheGlass.com, Wood is actually in the 97th percentile of bigs in terms of team effective field-goal percentage on-off court stats. Hence Houston’s last-place ranking in points per game, field-goal and 3-point shooting over the previous six games.

I’ll TAKE the UNDER 226.5 (-110) for a half-unit because the scoring should be one-sided and the game’s pace could die in the second half if the game is out of hand.

Philadelphia 76ers at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Philadelphia 76ers at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The top two seeds in each conference meet Monday when the Philadelphia 76ers (18-9) visit the Utah Jazz (22-5) at Vivint Arena Monday. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the 76ers-Jazz NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Philadelphia has dropped two straight games entering Monday and is just 3-3 straight up and 2-3-1 against the spread since the beginning of February.

The Jazz are lighting the Association on fire by winning 18 of their last 19 games and covering the spread in 17 of those contests.

76ers at Jazz: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:05 p.m. ET.

  • Against the spread/ATS: 76ers +7.5 (-115) | Jazz -7.5 (-105)

76ers at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 110, Jazz 106

Money line (ML)

Let me caveat this handicap by saying there’s no way you can bet Philadelphia if Embiid, who’s listed as questionable, cannot play tonight. If Embiid is in there, I lean 76ERS (+240) for a one-fifth-unit because I like Philadelphia plus the points.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

BET 76ERS +7.5 (-115) heavier or instead of the money line if Embiid is active. Philadelphia PG Ben Simmons has mitigated Utah SG Donovan Mitchell’s production in the last six 76ers-Jazz games as Mitchell is averaging 20.2 points per game on .350/.184/.640 shooting in those contests.

Also, this is a game where first-year 76ers SG Seth Curry can shine; Curry averaged 18.7 points on .704/.667/1.000 shooting in three games against the Jazz last season while a member of the Dallas Mavericks. The gravitational pull of Embiid’s offensive repertoire can help the shooters on Philadelphia get wide-open looks.

Finally, the best way to beat the 76ers is by taking advantage of their ball security. Philadelphia is 28th in turnover percentage and 28th in opponent’s points per game off of turnovers, but the Jazz are dead-last in defensive turnover rate and 24th in points off of turnovers per game.

Over/Under (O/U)

The 76ers need to stop the Jazz from gassing past them from behind the arc and Philadelphia’s 3-point defense against Utah has been on-point in recent years. The median for team 3-point percentage is 36.0% this season and the Jazz have shot better than 36.0% from deep just once against the 76ers in their last six meetings.

Combined with how Philadelphia’s defense matches up with Utah and the absence of Conley, I give a real shot to the 76ers at doing the unthinkable: Stopping the Jazz’s offense.

GIMME UNDER 225.5 (-105) for 1 unit.

76ers at Suns: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 112, Suns 108

Money line (ML)

The Suns and 76ers have each won seven of their last 10 games. The Suns are unbeaten in their homestand so far, winning four straight. Philly, though, is not nearly the team on the road it is at home. The Sixers are 11-2 at home and only 7-6 on the road, but they have won four of their last five road games.

Phoenix fell behind big against the Milwaukee Bucks the other night and had to rally to come back and win. The Sixers haven’t lost two consecutive games in over a month. The Suns will fall this time.

Take the 76ERS (-115).

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Suns have one of the league’s best ATS records at 15-9 and have managed to cover the spread in every straight-up win and failed to cover in every loss. They are 8-4 ATS at home. Philly is 5-7-1 ATS on the road but 3-1-1 in its last five road contests.

Take the 76ERS -1.5 (-105).

Over/Under (O/U)

The Suns have the fifth-lowest Over percentage in the league at 41.7% but half of their home games this season have gone Over. The two teams combine to average nearly 225 points per game and allow a combined 218 points per game. Both teams are top-10 in the league in points allowed.

This game will come up just short of the total. Take UNDER 222.5 POINTS (-110).

Philadelphia 76ers at Portland Trail Blazers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Philadelphia 76ers at Portland Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Philadelphia 76ers (18-7) stop by the Moda Center for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off against the Portland Trail Blazers (13-10). Below, we analyze the 76ers-Trail Blazers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Philadelphia has been one of the hotter teams in the league, winning two in a row and five of its last six games (4-1-1 ATS). That lone loss was to these Trail Blazers sub-MVP-candidate Damian Lillard 121-105 last Thursday.

Portland won the first home game, 106-97, over the Orlando Magic following a six-game road trip. Including that road trip, the Trail Blazers are 4-3 overall and 5-2 ATS in their previous seven games.

These teams were tied entering the second half in the first meeting before the 76ers turned the ball over nine times in a third quarter they outscored 40-19. Portland has won two straight over Philadelphia, five of its past six and is 5-1-0 ATS in those games.

76ers at Trail Blazers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:15 p.m. ET.

  • Against the spread/ATS: 76ers -5.5 (-110) | Trail Blazers +5.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 229.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

76ers at Trail Blazers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 126, Trail Blazers 114

Money line (ML)

PASS because I’m on Philadelphia but taking 76ers (-225) to win outright is bad ROI.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Both teams were without its All-Star point guards, but Philadelphia was way more out of sync without Ben Simmons than Portland with Lillard.

And even though Simmons is considered one of the best defenders in basketball, the on-off numbers show that his presence is more important to Philadelphia’s offense.

Simmons is in the 94th percentile in team points per possession and the 100th percentile in team effective field goal shooting while on the floor, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

The 76ers were minus-seven in turnovers in their previous meeting with the Trail Blazers, and everyone aside from MVP contender Joel Embiid struggled offensively. It also didn’t help that 76ers SG Seth Curry exited the game in the first half because he felt ill.

When you combine the motivation Philadelphia should have to beat a Portland team that has its number recently with Simmons and Curry being good to go and the Trail Blazers having no answer for Embiid, it equals a BET on 76ERS -5.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Philadelphia is due for a bounce-back effort offensively after its stinker in the last game against Portland, and the Trail Blazers have scored at least 121 points in their last five games against the 76ers.

Also, Lillard has put Portland on his back since McCollum went out of the lineup back Jan. 18. In his nine games played over that span, Lillard is averaging 32 points on .471/.408/.944 shooting with 7.6 assists per game. While Philadelphia’s defense is formidable, I think Portland brings enough offense to help this game get well into the mid-230s.

TAKE OVER 229.5 (-110) for a half-unit.

Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Brooklyn Nets (14-10) stop by Wells Fargo Center Saturday for an 8 p.m. ET game against the Philadelphia 76ers (16-7). Below, we analyze the Nets-76ers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Brooklyn played in one of the most bizarre NBA regular-season games in recent memory last night. The major story from Brooklyn’s 123-117 upset loss to the Toronto Raptors was a Kevin Durant-COVID-19 saga that had a few different acts end with KD being pulled in the third quarter for contact-tracing protocols.

The crazy thing that happened in the last 76ers’ last game was them getting crushed 121-105 by a Damian Lillard- and C.J. McCollum-less Portland Trail Blazers as 10-point home favorites. Otherwise, it’s all good in Philadelphia with the Sixers winning four of their last five games and seven of 10.

The Nets stomped the 76ers 122-109 earlier this season before Brooklyn acquired G James Harden. Durant was out because of COVID-19 and PG Kyrie Irving took a personal leave.

Nets at 76ers: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 1:35 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Nets +150 (bet $100 to win $150) | 76ers -180 (bet $180 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Nets +4.5 (-115) | 76ers -4.5 (-105)
  • Over/Under: 236.5 (O: -115 | U: -105)

Nets at 76ers: Key injuries

Nets

  • SF Kevin Durant (health and safety protocols) questionable
  • PG Kyrie Irving (finger) out

76ers

  • SG Seth Curry (illness) questionable
  • Joel Embiid (knee) questionable

Nets at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 121, Nets 119

Money line (ML)

PASS with a slight lean on Nets (+150) because I like Brooklyn to cover the spread. Also, I’d rather use my Nets-76ers betting budget on the following markets.

Don’t miss: Play our new, free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

As you may have gathered after reading earlier, some of these NBA regular-season outcomes are random. Sometimes you can lean on daily injury report news or positional matchups but these 3-point chuck-offs lead to weird results.

That being said, I think there’s value in backing the Nets without one or two of their Big 3 because any one of Harden, KD, or Kyrie can decimate an opponent.

While it’s bad news if KD or Kyrie is out for any extended period, Harden can hold down the fort in the short term. For instance, Harden is averaging 35.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 8.9 assists per game over his last 10 games against the 76ers.

Sure, all these stats are from Harden’s run with the Houston Rockets; however, Nets first-year head coach Steve Nash has former Rockets head coach Mike D’Antoni on staff.

Finally, Brooklyn’s absences are baked into the line so just blindly betting a depleted professional basketball team could hurt the bankroll. As the 76ers have proven, they can sustain freak losses to teams without its best players.

TAKE NETS +4.5 (-115) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Brooklyn has gone Over the total in 10 of 11 games since acquiring Harden and while the absence of KD and/or Kyrie definitely lowers Brooklyn’s offensive ceiling, its defense definitely does not improve.

Philly is third in defensive rating but gave up 121 points Thursday vs. Portland without three starters and the Over has cashed in three consecutive 76ers’ games.

I’m on the OVER 236.5 (-115) for a three-fourth-unit.

The surging Philadelphia 76ers (16-6) will host the banged-up Portland Trail Blazers (11-9) on Thursday night at the Wells Fargo Center, with tip-off at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Blazers-76ers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Trail Blazers at 76ers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 122, Trail Blazers 110

Money line (ML)

The 76ers are heavily favored in this one due to the injuries Portland is dealing with. The possible absence of Lillard would be an even greater blow to the Blazers, who will already be missing McCollum and Nurkic.

I like the 76ERS (-350) to win outright in this one on their home floor, where they’re 10-1 this season.

Against the spread (ATS)

The 76ers have been great against the spread all season, but they’ve been particularly strong in their last 10 games, going 6-2-2 ATS. At home this season, they’re 8-3 ATS, though Portland is 7-3 ATS on the road.

Still, PHILADELPHIA (-8.5, -105) is a good bet to cover the 8.5-point spread Thursday night.

Over/Under (O/U)

There hasn’t been much of a clear trend on the Over/Under with either of these teams. The total has gone Over in 12 of the 76ers’ 22 games, while the Over is 11-9 for the Blazers.

The Blazers missing McCollum and possibly Lillard obviously hurts their chances to put up points in bunches, but the OVER (225.5, -115) still looks like a better pick with Philly’s offense playing well as of late.

Philadelphia 76ers at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Philadelphia 76ers at Indiana Pacers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (11-8) host the Philadelphia 76ers (14-6) Sunday for a 7 p.m. ET game at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Below, we analyze the 76ers-Pacers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Philadelphia has won five of its last six games (4-2 against the spread) with the peak of this stretch being a 107-106 win over the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday.

The Pacers have been up-and-down recently, going 3-3 straight up and 2-4 ATS in their past six games. They split each of their two-game sets with the Toronto Raptors and Charlotte Hornets entering Sunday with the Pacers’ last game being a 108-105 loss to the Hornets.

Indiana won three of four meetings last regular season vs. Philly and covered the spread in all four.

76ers at Pacers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 114, 76ers 108

Money line (ML)

According to CleaningTheGlass, Philadelphia (10th) and Indiana (11th) are neck-and-neck in efficiency differential, which eliminates garbage time and meaningless possessions.

76ers All-Star C Joel Embiid‘s availability is major in handicapping this game and every bettor should wait until the final injury report is released before putting action on this game.

Over Philadelphia’s recent six-game stretch, Embiid has played in five of those games and has been abusing foes. He averaged 35.6 points on .560/.429/.833% shooting with 10.4 rebounds per game in those contests.

Indiana has an edge over Philly in a couple of areas. First, the 76ers shoot the fifth-most mid-range jumpers and Indiana is second in opponent’s mid-range shooting percentage. Second, Indiana scores the second-most points off of turnovers per game while Philly gives up the third-most points off of turnovers and the 76ers are 27th in offensive turnover percentage.

Knowing Embiid’s status and effectiveness is questionable, I lean PACERS (+110) for a one-fifth-unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

This is a good spot for Indiana as the Pacers are 4-2 ATS as underdogs whereas the 76ers are 3-4 ATS as road favorites. Furthermore, we get to fade the market, which nearly 70% of is backing Philadelphia according to Pregame.com.

Also, there’s value in taking a bucket’s worth of insurance against teams so evenly matched. Last night, I ground out a win in the Lakers-Celtics game because Los Angeles didn’t cover as 2.5-point favorites.

I’m TAKING PACERS +2.5 (-115) for 1 unit as the better play on the sides.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS. I agree with BetMGM‘s projection and don’t see any value in betting either side of the total.

76ers at Timberwolves: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 113, Timberwolves 103

Money line (ML)

The 76ERS (-295) are huge favorites. They’ve won four of their last five games, including an impressive 107-106 win over the Los Angeles Lakers Wednesday night. Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have lost 13 of their last 15 games and will be without Towns once again.

Don’t expect this game to be all that close and for the 76ers to get another easy win.

Against the spread (ATS)

The 76ERS -6.5 (-110) are a smart play to win by 7 or more points, as they are against the spread 10-9. They’ve really played well over the last few weeks and the offense has picked up steam.

They should be able to get to 110 or more points in this game and the Timberwolves really don’t have any way to keep up. Take Philly to cover the spread Friday night in Minnesota.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 224.5 (-110) is the optimal play here as the Timberwolves just don’t have the offensive firepower to keep up in this game. Since Jan. 10, there have been four games in which the T-Wolves failed to reach 100 points. They should get close to that number Friday night, but it likely won’t be enough for the Over to hit unless the 76ers really explode on offense.

Take the Under as this should be a 110-100 type of game in Minnesota.
