Seahawks announce one-year extension for G Phil Haynes

The Seattle Seahawks have announced a one-year contract extension for guard Phil Haynes.

The Seattle Seahawks have announced a one-year contract extension for guard Phil Haynes. He has been with Seattle since 2019, when they picked him in the fourth round of the NFL draft.

Haynes (6-foot-4, 322 pounds) has served as the team’s top backup guard behind starting LG Damien Lewis and RG Gabe Jackson. This past season he regularly rotated with Jackson at right guard, putting in a total of 485 offensive snaps.

Financial details of the deal have not been reported as of yet, but last year Hayned signed a one-year contract worth $2.54 million. Odds are the new deal he signed is similar.

Update:

Haynes got himself a nice raise, as it turns out. Ari Meirov reports his deal is worth $4 million with incentives that could reach $5 million total.

A look at Seahawks injury updates heading into Wild Card Weekend

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll provided a number of player injury updates heading into the preparation for the Wild Card Weekend.

The Seattle Seahawks are headed to the wild-card round of the playoffs with a couple of players dinged up after the toll of the regular season. Coach Pete Carroll was able to provide a number of injury updates during his afternoon press conference on Monday.

Safety Ryan Neal, who was inactive for the third week in a row battling a knee injury, appears to be on the mend.

“He’s making progress,” Carroll told reporters. “It’s going to be a race to see what happens. But he was pretty positive. He’s a pretty upbeat, positive guy. Gotta take that in. I was really happy for him because he felt like there was a hope he could make it back.”

Carroll also said guard Phil Haynes (ankle) has a chance to return this week as well.

As for the players who sustained some damage during the Seahawks win over the Rams, Carroll had the following to say.

“It seems like they’re kind of bumped, bumps and bruises kind of thing,” Carroll explained.  “And so there’s hope they can make it through, but we’ve got to wait and see. Tariq (Woolen) had a couple of things he was banged on. And we saw Shelby (Harris) got hit on the thigh or something like that. And so did DeeJay (Dallas). Just got to wait and see. I can’t tell you.”

Pete Carroll provides Seahawks injury updates heading into Week 18

Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll provided a number of player injury updates heading into Week 18 of the 2022 NFL regular season.

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their final regular-season game of the year and coach Pete Carroll provided a number of injury updates heading into Week 18.

Carroll confirmed linebacker Jordyn Brooks suffered an ACL injury on Sunday that requires surgery once the swelling has gone down in his knee. While no firm timeline for his return was provided, Brooks’ season is now over.

Carroll also confirmed that offensive lineman Phil Haynes sustained a high ankle sprain against the Jets but no additional information was provided.

As for wide receiver Tyler Lockett, the hope is he is able to recover from his leg injury in time to face the Rams on Sunday.

He’s better today,” Carroll told reporters Monday afternoon. “The report is that his leg feels a little better today, he got banged. It’s not a serious injury, but it bothered him immediately afterwards. He recovered enough to get back in and I went up to him and said, ‘We’re going to win this game, we have a big game coming up, and you’re out for now.’

“He was chomping to get back in.”

In other good news, three players who sat out Week 17 have a chance to play this weekend: right tackle Abraham Lucas, running back Travis Homer, and safety Ryan Neal.

The Seattle Seahawks beat the New York Jets 23-6 to keep their playoff hopes alive, but it came at a cost.

Seattle’s young linebacker, Jordyn Brooks, was carted off after a tackle where his knee was injured during a tackle. It didn’t take long after being carted to the locker room before the Seahawks officially ruled out their former first-round draft pick.

After the game, head coach Pete Carroll gave an injury update for Brooks. Carroll admitted he didn’t know the extent of the injury, or the specifics, but mentioned he was undergoing imaging during the press conference.

Brooks wasn’t the only injury of note, as Tyler Lockett also missed time.

“Tyler got banged up on his right lower leg, it just bothered him,” Carroll elaborated. “He tried to get warm, he tried to get loose, and stay in, and got back on the field. At the very end, we held him out.”

As far as Week 18 goes, Carroll says we’ll “have to wait and see” when it comes to Lockett’s availability. Fortunately, Lockett made it through the game with no issue to his surgically repaired hand.

The other injury of note was guard Phil Haynes, who suffered a sprained ankle.

Seahawks elevate one from practice squad, amend injury report

The Seahawks made a couple of changes on Saturday in preparation for today’s road game against the Lions.

The Seahawks made a couple of changes on Saturday in preparation for today’s road game against the Lions.

First, the team elevated Cullen Gillaspia from their practice squad. He’s been listed as a running back in the past but only seen action on special teams. Seattle is listing him as a linebacker so we should only expect to see him active on that third phase.

Additionally, the team made one change to their injury report. Backup guard Phil Haynes has been added to the report with a “questionable” designation. He was a full participant at Friday’s practice but is dealing with an ankle injury.

Seahawks LG Damien Lewis suffers major leg injury, gets carted off the field

The last thing you want to see is a serious injury in a preseason game.

The last thing you want to see is a serious injury in a preseason game. The Seattle Seahawks have suffered what appears to be a bad one in tonight’s contest with the Chicago Bears.

Left guard Damien Lewis was just carted off at Lumen Field after going down with what appears to be a major leg injury. While there are no specifics yet he was spotted wearing an air cast, which is never a good sign.

If Lewis misses significant time, the obvious replacement is switch-hitting backup guard Phil Haynes, who was the team’s highest-graded player by PFF in last week’s loss to the Steelers.

Haynes has indeed come in to replace Lewis at left guard and the Bears lead 10-0 early in the second quarter.

Update:

Another bad sign, here. The team has already ruled out Lewis for the remainder of the game with what they’re calling an ankle injury.
