2021 Shriners Children’s Open odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The PGA Tour begins a two-week residency in Las Vegas with the Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin. Martin Laird returns as the defending champion, but he’ll be challenged by a rather strong field. Below, we look at the 2021 Shriners Children’s Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Viktor Hovland is the top-ranked player in the field at No. 3 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings (as of Sept. 27). He’s playing his first event of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season following his loss with Team Europe at the Ryder Cup. Louis Oosthuizen (No. 5) and Paul Casey (No. 7) are also among this week’s betting favorites.

The 7,255-yard, par-71 TPC Summerlin has long hosted the Shriners Children’s Open and its many previous iterations. Course history has been important with Laird winning this event for a second time last year and Kevin Na winning in 2011 and 2019.

2021 Shriners Children’s Open picks – Favorite

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 2:54 p.m. ET.

Kevin Na (+3000)

While no faults can be found in the 2021 US Ryder Cup team in hindsight, Na had been considered a snub by many when the team was first announced. He’ll have an early opportunity to prove those beliefs correct, despite the Americans’ lopsided victory, with his third career win at TPC Summerlin.

He tied for the low 72-hole score at the Tour Championship before missing the cut at the Fortinet Championship. The 2020-21 season finale capped a six-event stretch that included two co-runner-up finishes and a T-8 at The Northern Trust to start the FedEx Cup Playoffs.

Na tied for just 43rd last year in his 2019 defense, but he was sixth among those who made the cut with 0.93 Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee per round and had a subpar putting performance. His strong short game can shine at this venue.

2021 Shriners Children’s Open picks – Contender

Brian Harman (+6000)

This is a much higher number for Harman than those we got accustomed to seeing in the 2020-21 season. He enters the week at No. 28 in the Golfweek rankings and with five top-10 finishes on the calendar year, along with top-20 finishes in three of the year’s four majors.

The 34-year-old lefty has played 22 career rounds at TPC Summerlin with an average of 0.92 total strokes gained on the field per round. He finished T-13 last year while ranking third in the field in SG: Putting per round. His play with the driver improved greatly through the season.

2021 Shriners Children’s Open picks – Long shot

Matt Kuchar (+20000)

Kuchar’s lone top-10 finish of 2021 thus far was a third-place result in the WGC – Dell Technologies Match Play. He’s down to his final eight opportunities of the year to try to extend a three-year streak of at least one professional victory.

He has averaged 1.22 strokes gained on the field over 17 career rounds at TPC Summerlin, including a T-34 finish last year with 0.76 SG: Around-the-Green per round. While the odds are indicative of his fall from regular contender status, this course still suits his strengths in the short game

2021 Tour Championship odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 Tour Championship, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The 2020-21 PGA Tour season ends with this week’s Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. A field made up of the top 30 golfers in the season-long FedEx Cup standings will now compete for the $15 million first-place prize. Below, we look at the 2021 Tour Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

The Tour Championship begins with starting strokes assigned by the FedEx Cup standings following Patrick Cantlay‘s win at least week’s BMW Championship. Cantlay enters the week atop the standings with Tony Finau, winner of the previous week’s The Northern Trust, in second.

Cantlay will tee off Thursday at 10-under par with a 2-stroke lead over Finau. Places three through five will start at minus-7, minus-6 and minus-5, respectively. Spots six through 10 start at minus-4, 11-15 at minus-3, 16-20 at minus-2, 21-25 at minus-1 and 26-30 will begin at even par.

The odds and our picks include these starting strokes.

Jon Rahm (+380)

Rahm will begin the week 4 shots off the lead at minus-6 but that’ll be manageable for the Tour leader in total strokes gained per round on the field. His 2.57 strokes gained per round are a half shot per round better than Cantlay and 0.59 better than Bryson DeChambeau.

The Spaniard slipped from second to fourth in the season-long standings with a T-9 finish last week. It was his sixth straight international top-10 finish, excluding his forced withdrawal from the Memorial Tournament. He remains No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings and the Official World Golf Ranking.

Rahm finished fourth at East Lake last year at minus-17, including starting strokes. It was an awful putting performance, but he has averaged 0.33 strokes gained per round with the flat stick this season.

2021 Tour Championship picks – Contender

Tony Finau (+700)

Finau’s a much better bet at odds nearly double those of Rahm and 2 strokes closer to the pre-tournament leader. He’s 17th in the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings but ninth in the Official World Golf Ranking following his win at The Northern Trust and a T-15 finish last week.

He’s tied for 10th in this field with 16 career rounds played at East Lake GC and has averaged 2.06 strokes gained on the field per round at this venue to rank tenth among the 30 golfers in attendance. He has just one win this season (and since 2016), but he has three runner-up finishes and three other top-10 showings in 21 events in 2021.

He needs to make up just 2 strokes over four rounds to force his third playoff of the year.

2021 Tour Championship picks – Long shot

Rory McIlroy (+2000)

It has proven risky to bet outside of the FedEx Cup leaders since the starting strokes format was introduced in 2019; however, McIlroy, who starts at 16th in the standings and at minus-2, is worth a small-unit flier for a 20-1 return on your investment.

The two-time FedEx Cup winner has averaged 2.91 strokes gained on the field per round over 28 rounds at East Lake GC. After bemoaning the labors of the 2020-21 PGA Tour “super” season, McIlroy finished alone in fourth last week for his top North American finish since winning the Wells Fargo Championship in early May.

2021 BMW Championship odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 BMW Championship, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The top 70 golfers in the season-long FedEx Cup standings following Tony Finau‘s win at The Northern Trust move on to Caves Valley Golf Club in Owings Mills, Maryland for the BMW Championship. Finau moved to No. 1 in the standings with his first win in more than five years. Below, we look at the 2021 BMW Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Caves Valley Golf Club is a new venue for the penultimate event of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. The Tom Fazio design measures 7,542 yards and plays to a par of 72. Jon Rahm, who remains atop the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings, won this event last year but at Olympia Fields Country Club.

The top 30 in the standings after this week will advance to the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club for the playoff finale. Some big names beginning this week outside of the top 30 include Kevin Kisner (31), Keegan Bradley (32), Sergio Garcia (44), Webb Simpson (52), Paul Casey (54) and Phil Mickelson (70).

2021 BMW Championship picks – Favorite

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds a full list. Lines last updated Tuesday at 4:40 p.m. ET.

Bryson DeChambeau (+2000)

DeChambeau was the first two-time winner on the 2020-21 PGA Tour season but he has no victories and just three top-10 finishes in his last 13 events. He’s coming off a lackluster T-31 finish last week and enters the second-to-last event of the season ninth in the FedEx Cup standings.

Despite his recent (relative) struggles, and media silence, DeChambeau still leads all qualified golfers and players in this field with 1.14 Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee per round. The length and wide landing areas of Caves Valley are well-suited to his game and he recently tied for eighth at the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational while gaining 0.85 strokes per round with the putter.

2021 BMW Championship picks – Contender

Sam Burns (+5000)

Burns broke out in early May with his first career PGA Tour win at the Valspar Championship and followed it up with a runner-up finish two weeks later at the AT&T Byron Nelson. He returned to the front page of the leaderboard at the WGC-Invitational event with a T-2 finish before tying for 21st last week.

He comes into the BMW Championship 12th in the season-long standings but shares just the 24th-best odds to win. He’s averaging 0.67 SG: Approach and 0.52 SG: Putting for the season on top of 0.27 SG: Off-the-Tee per round.

2021 BMW Championship picks – Long shot

Sergio Garcia (+9000)

The 41-year-old former Masters champ has struggled with the putter all season and missed the cut last week but Caves Valley sets up as a strong course fit. He trails only DeChambeau and Rahm among qualified golfers in SG: Off-the-Tee.

He should also be highly motivated this week while in need of a strong finish in order to advance to the Tour Championship. He begins the week at No. 44 in the season-long standings with his only win of the 2020-21 campaign coming at the Sanderson Farms Championship last fall.

2021 Northern Trust odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 Northern Trust, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs begin this week with The Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. The three-week playoff stretch will end with the Tour Championship at East Lake Golf Club from Sept. 2-5. Below, we look at the 2021 Northern Trust odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

The top 125 golfers from the season-long FedEx Cup (FEC) standings have advanced to this point. Collin Morikawa enters the week at No. 11 in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings and sits atop the FEC standings. The top 70 after this week will advance to the BMW Championship; then, the top 30 will move on to the Tour Championship.

Dustin Johnson, the reigning FedEx Cup champion, enters the playoffs at No. 17 in FEC standings. He won last year’s Northern Trust but at TPC Boston as the tournament has alternated venues since 2019.

Webb Simpson (+4000)

Simpson’s coming off a T-7 finish at last week’s Wyndham Championship where he led the field with 2.12 Strokes Gained: Approach and ranked third with 2.40 SG: Tee-to-Green per round but lost strokes on and around the putting surfaces. It was his sixth top-10 finish of the season and he enters the playoffs 46th in the FEC standings.

He tied for 18th in this event at this venue in 2019. His 2.64 strokes gained on the field per round at Liberty National GC are the most among those in this week’s field with at least 10 rounds played here.

Simpson is also 13th in the Golfweek rankings and is an excellent value bet with a share of just the 16th-best odds to win.

2021 Northern Trust picks – Contender

Si Woo Kim (+9000)

Kim comes to Liberty National fourth among qualified golfers with 0.44 SG: Around-the-Green for the 2020-21 season. He tied for second last week while ranking first among golfers who made the cut with 1.24 SG: Around-the-Green per round. He added 1.27 SG: Approach and 2.08 SG: Tee-to-Green per round in one of his better ball-striking performances of the season.

He finished 84th here in 2019 with a woeful 2.18 strokes lost per round with the putter but he has been much better than that with the flat stick this season and enters the week 30th in the FEC standings.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

2021 Northern Trust picks – Long shot

Keegan Bradley (+10000)

Bradley begins this week 43rd in the season-long standings with no wins but four top-10 finishes. He tied for 64th in this event in 2019 while losing 0.79 strokes per round on the greens.

The former major winner continues to struggle with the putter but he’s averaging 0.89 SG: Approach and 0.22 SG: Around-the-Green for the season.

It’s tough to find long shots in a condensed field of the 125 best golfers for the 2020-21 season but Bradley fits the course well if he can just be average with the flat stick.

2021 Wyndham Championship odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 Wyndham Championship, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

A relatively weak but highly motivated field is at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week for the Wyndham Championship. The event precedes the beginning of the FedEx Cup Playoffs next week. Below, we look at the 2021 Wyndham Championship odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

The top 125 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings after this week will advance to The Northern Trust at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey. That will begin the three-week playoff stretch culminating with the Tour Championship from Sept. 2 to Sept. 5. There’ll then be just a one-week interlude before the start of the 2021-22 PGA Tour season.

Louis Oosthuizen was the top player in the field at No. 2 in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings, but he withdrew Wednesday evening due to a neck injury. He entered the week at No. 8 in the FEC standings and is safely in the playoffs.

Some of the biggest names in the field in need of points in order to advance to The Northern Trust include Rickie Fowler (130), Tommy Fleetwood (136), Justin Rose (138) and Francesco Molinari (140).

Will Zalatoris (+2000)

No one is in greater need of a win this week than Zalatoris. Despite racking up 1,270 points that would have him ranked 26th in the season-long standings, he won’t qualify for the playoffs without a win under Special Temporary Membership status.

The 24-year-old’s accomplishments this season include a T-6 finish at the 2020 US Open, a runner-up at the 2021 Masters and a T-8 at the PGA Championship. He tied for eighth at last week’s WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational and will face a much weaker competition at Sedgefield.

Zalatoris missed the cut in this event in 2018, but he averaged 1.06 Strokes Gained: Off-the-Tee per round and lost 1.28 strokes per round on the greens.

2021 Wyndham Championship picks – Contender

Mackenzie Hughes (+6000)

Hughes struggled to a 50th-place finish at the Olympic Golf Competition in Tokyo, but he previously tied for sixth at the British Open to extend his streak to four straight made cuts. He didn’t play this event last year; however, tied for 22nd in 2019 and for 66th in 2018.

The Canadian struggles with accuracy off the tee, but he’s as good of a putter as there is on Tour when he’s on. He’s an excellent value at these odds in one of the weaker fields he has competed against this season. He has four top-10 finishes since the beginning of the fall swing and enters the week 67th in the FEC standings.

2021 Wyndham Championship picks – Long shot

Camilo Villegas (+20000)

Villegas is 129th in the FEC standings despite rising from 404th to 249th in the Official World Golf Ranking since the end of last year. He enters this week on a streak of five straight made cuts and finished in a tie for eighth against a stronger field than this at The Honda Classic earlier this year.

He has played 26 career rounds at Sedgefield CC with an average of 0.92 strokes gained on the field per round. He tied for 16th in his last appearance here in 2017 while ranking fourth among all golfers who made the cut with 2.15 SG: Putting per round.

WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational odds, picks and PGA Tour predictions

Analyzing the golf odds to win the WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee once again hosts this week’s WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational. An elite field of 66 is in attendance as Justin Thomas tries to defend his 2020 win. Below, we look at the 2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Xander Schauffele is one of many in the field making the long trek back from the Summer Olympics in Tokyo. He won gold but is still looking for his first PGA Tour win since Jan. 2019.

Jon Rahm, ranked No. 1 in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings, is the most notable absence among the eligible golfers this week. This is the second-to-last week before the start of the FedEx Cup Playoffs with a weaker, alternate field participating in the Barracuda Championship.

Brooks Koepka (+1100)

Koepka, back to No. 47 in the Golfweek rankings, won this event at TPC Southwind in 2019 and tied for second last year. He led last year’s field with 2.11 Strokes Gained: Approach per round but struggled on the greens and lost 0.68 strokes per round with the flat stick. He’s fifth in this field with 2.17 strokes gained per round over 28 career rounds at TPC Southwind.

Koepka has rung up three straight finishes of T-6 or better at the US Open, Travelers Championship and British Open and has a total of six top-10 finishes through 12 events in 2021. Three of those were in the year’s final three majors and another was against an elite field at the WGC-Workday Championship in February.

Additionally, Koepka is one of the top players who didn’t need to make the long trip back from Tokyo and has had two weeks off since the British Open.

2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational picks – Contender

Will Zalatoris (+4900)

Zalatoris is sixth among qualified golfers in SG: Approach for the season ahead of his professional debut at TPC Southwind. His putting and short game have been weaknesses of late, but he’s well-rested after a withdrawal from the British Open due to injury and a couple of weeks off.

Zalatoris is likely to be one of the most motivated golfers in the field as he still needs a win either this week or next to qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs despite four top-10 finishes this year.

2021 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational picks – Long shot

Kevin Kisner (+9900)

Kisner has averaged 0.95 strokes gained on the field over 20 career rounds at TPC Southwind, including a T-25 finish with 2.02 SG: Putting per round last year.

He also has a 2015 win and a 2020 runner-up finish at the RSM Classic at Sea Island Golf Club. While those events both had considerably weaker fields, the venues are highly comparable with both putting an emphasis on the approach game and play around the greens.

2021 3M Open odds, predictions and PGA Tour picks

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 3M Open, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

This week’s 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota, is the final event on the PGA Tour schedule before a one-week break for the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Below, we look at the 2021 3M Open odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

There’s a relatively strong field in attendance following Collin Morikawa’s win at the 149th British Open. Dustin Johnson is the most prominent name and the pre-tournament betting favorite while ranked fifth in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings (as of Monday, July 12).

It’s the third running of the event at TPC Twin Cities. Michael Thompson won by two strokes at minus-19 last year, after Matthew Wolff beat Bryson DeChambeau and Morikawa by a stroke in the inaugural event in 2019.

Matthew Wolff (+3000)

Wolff has played this event twice with a win in 2019 and a T-12 showing last year. His putting was much improved in 2020, but he wasn’t nearly as strong from tee to green as he was in 2019 when he averaged a field-best 3.33 strokes gained per round.

Wolff surprisingly withdrew from the British Open without providing a reason, but he had recently returned to form with a T-15 finish at the US Open following a lengthy break.

He followed it up with a missed cut at the Travelers Championship but a T-58 result at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in only his second three-week stretch of competitive golf this year.

No one with more than one appearance at the 3M Open has averaged more strokes gained on the field per round than Wolff’s 2.49.

Richy Werenski (+6600)

Werenski has also played this event twice with a T-46 finish in 2019 and a T-3 last year. He was second behind Thompson among those who made the cut with 1.75 Strokes Gained: Putting per round in 2020.

He missed the cut in 14 of 29 events since winning last year’s Barracuda Championship. His first PGA Tour win followed a strong showing in this event and also came at a course where he had a strong history with a playoff loss in 2017.

His odds are boosted following another missed cut in the weak field of the Barbasol Championship last week but this course should spark a return to form.

2021 3M Open picks – Long shot

Brian Stuard (+10000)

Stuard tied for eighth and for 15th at the John Deere Classic and Barbasol Championship, respectively, in back-to-back weeks. They were his two best results through 22 events in 2021.

He has never played this event before but is a great value at these odds based on his current form and third-place ranking in driving accuracy for the 2020-21 season. Just a $10 bet would return a profit of $1,000.

Lucas Glover is coming off a win at last week’s John Deere Classic on the PGA Tour, but a stronger field was at the European Tour’s abrdn Scottish Open, which was won by Min Woo Lee in a playoff over Thomas Detry and Matt Fitzpatrick.

He tied for 35th at last week’s Scottish Open but was in contention through two rounds before a lackluster weekend. He missed the cut at the British Open at Royal St. George’s in 2003 and 2011; however, he has five career top-five finishes at The Open, including a T-4 in 2019.

His 58 career rounds played in the British Open rank second in this week’s field and he has averaged 1.66 strokes gained on the field per round at British Open venues.

2021 British Open picks – Long shot

Corey Conners (+10000)

Conners has appeared in just one British Open with a missed cut at Royal Portrush in 2019, but we’re getting an excellent number on the 29-year-old who has been playing the best golf of his career in 2021. He tied for eighth at the Masters and for 17th at the PGA Championship before a missed cut at the US Open.

He’s 32nd in the Golfweek rankings and 38th in the OWGR but is priced as a long shot with odds of 100-1. His excellent ball striking can help compensate and limit the damage of his mediocre short game and sand play.

2021 John Deere Classic odds, predictions and PGA Tour picks

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 John Deere Classic, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill., hosts this week’s John Deere Classic as the final tune-up to the 2021 Open Championship next week. A rather weak field is in attendance ahead of the sixth and final major of the 2020-21 PGA Tour season. Below, we look at the 2021 John Deere Classic odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Brian Harman is the top player in the field at No. 8 in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings. Daniel Berger, at No. 9, is the only other golfer from the top 10 in attendance. Cameron Davis comes in off his first career PGA Tour victory at last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic.

TPC Deere Run measures 7,268 yards and plays to a par of 71. Five of the last six winning scores of the John Deere Classic were minus-20 or better. The 2020 tournament was canceled amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Russell Henley (+1800)

Henley was off last week after a T-19 finish at the Travelers Championship followed by his T-13 showing at the US Open. He returns to TPC Deere Run off of a runner-up finish in 2019 in which he averaged 2.11 Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and 1.93 SG: Approach per round.

Henley’s 46th on Tour in driving accuracy and tied for 14th in par 4 efficiency from 400-450 yards. His most recent of three PGA Tour wins to date was at the 2017 Houston Open, but he enters the week in strong form and is one of the top-ranked players in the field at No. 34 in the Golfweek rankings.

The weaker field should allow for a top finish after his late collapse against the world’s best at the US Open.

2021 John Deere Classic Classic picks – Contender

Beau Hossler (+6600)

Hossler has rung up three straight top-25 finishes with a T-19 at the Palmetto Championship, a T-10 at the Travelers Championship and a T-25 at last week’s Rocket Mortgage Classic. Once ranked as high as 64th in the Official World Golf Ranking, he enters this week at No. 288 but has been trending in the right direction in 2021.

He tied for 26th at the 2019 John Deere Classic with 1.48 SG: Putting per round. His putter has been the best part of his game this season.

2021 John Deere Classic picks – Long shot

Bronson Burgoon (+12500)

Burgoon has averaged 0.85 strokes gained on the field per round over 12 career rounds at TPC Deere Run. Those three appearances include a distant runner-up finish to Michael Kim in 2018. He tied with three others that year, including 2018 Open champ Francesco Molinari.

The 34-year-old has missed three straight cuts, but he previously tied for 13th against quality fields at both the AT&T Byron Nelson and the Valspar Championship.

His two professional wins were on the Adams Pro Tour in 2012, but he has played well at this course and this is one of the weakest fields of the 2021 schedule.

2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic odds, predictions and PGA Tour picks

Analyzing the golf odds to win the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic, with PGA Tour picks, predictions and best bets.

The PGA Tour returns to Detroit Golf Club as it hosts the third running of the Rocket Mortgage Classic. Bryson DeChambeau returns as the defending champion and 2021 betting favorite. Below, we look at the 2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic odds and make our PGA Tour picks and predictions to win.

Detroit Golf Club measures 7,370 yards and plays to a par of 72. The Donald Ross design puts an emphasis on accuracy off the tee on the front nine, but the back nine is considerably more open and allows for plenty of scoring opportunities.

The two runnings of the event have seen rather different fields and leaderboards. The inaugural 2019 tournament was won by Nate Lashley with Doc Redman as the runner-up. Last year’s edition was one of the Tour’s first events back from the COVID-19 pandemic with DeChambeau winning over Matthew Wolff.

Will Zalatoris (+2500)

Zalatoris, 24, is 18th in the Golfweek/Sagarin world rankings but remains in need of a win for full PGA Tour status and eligibility for the FedExCup Playoffs. He’s fifth in this field by the Golfweek rankings and shares the fifth-best odds to win.

His missed cut at the US Open was just his second through 15 events in 2021. That and a prior missed cut at the Wells Fargo Championship, have boosted his odds for this week.

Zalatoris has a runner-up finish at the Masters and three other top-10 finishes on the year, including a T-8 at the PGA Championship. He’s still averaging 1.51 Strokes Gained: Tee-to-Green and 1.00 SG: Approach per round for the 2020-21 season.

2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic picks – Contender

Doc Redman (+5500)

Redman has fallen to No. 131 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) with six missed cuts through 15 events this year, but he tied for second against a weaker field at the Palmetto Championship and for 61st at last week’s Travelers Championship.

Course history is on his side with his runner-up finish in 2019 and a T-21 in the stronger field last year.

His approach game has been sharp this season, and he has been better with the putter of late. He also averaged 1.23 SG: Around-the-Green per round at the Palmetto as a considerable improvement on the weakest part of his game.

2021 Rocket Mortgage Classic picks – Long shot

Mackenzie Hughes (+15000)

Hughes tied for 76th last week following his Sunday collapse and T-15 finish at the US Open. He lost a woeful 0.84 strokes per round off the tee last week; however, he remained strong around the greens and has been one of the Tour’s most consistent putters this season.

He didn’t play this event last year after a T-21 finish in 2019. He averaged 1.26 SG: Tee-to-Green and 0.84 SG: Approach per round in that appearance.

Mainly, this number is far too high for someone who was recently in the top 50 of the OWGR and has begun showing signs of old form after a stretch of five straight missed cuts.
