Matthew Stafford, 5 other Rams make PFF’s Team of the Week for Week 16

The Rams were well-represented on PFF’s Team of the Week following their dominant performance against the Saints

The Los Angeles Rams put together one of their best performances of the season last week against the New Orleans Saints, even though the final score may not look that way. In their 30-22 win, the Rams put up 458 yards of total offense and had 23 first downs with no turnovers and an average of 6.8 yards per play.

The defense featured some outstanding play from several guys, too, including Ernest Jones, Quentin Lake and Aaron Donald.

In total, six Rams players were represented on PFF’s Team of the Week for Week 16: three on offense and three on defense. Considering only 22 players were selected by PFF (excluding special teams), the Rams made up more than a quarter of the Team of the Week.

At quarterback, it was Matthew Stafford getting the nod thanks to his NFL-best 91.8 overall grade for Week 16. Puka Nacua, who was also named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week, was selected at wide receiver after catching nine passes for a career-high 164 yards. The third offensive player was right tackle Rob Havenstein, who only allowed one pressure.

Defensively, it was Donald, Jones and Lake earning PFF Team of the Week selections. Donald had four pressures, which was one fewer than Jones had in the win; Jones also added seven tackles. Lake only allowed 15 yards on seven targets in coverage, continuing his great second season in the NFL.

Up next for the Rams is a favorable matchup against the Giants this Sunday, so we could see another player or two from Los Angeles on PFF’s Week 17 Team of the Week.

Colts’ Braden Smith named to PFF’s Team of the Week

Colts RT Braden Smith was named to PFF’s Team of the Week in the loss to the Rams in Week 4.

Indianapolis Colts right tackle Braden Smith was named to Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week for his efforts during the Week 4 loss against the Los Angeles Rams.

Smith had one of his best games in a while. Though other pieces of the offensive line struggled to contain Aaron Donald on the other side, Smith did his part holding down the right side of the line.

He didn’t allow a single pressure on 35 pass-blocking snaps and was moving defenders in the run game. His 84.6 pass-blocking grade was the third-highest among qualified offensive tackles while his 80.0 run-blocking grade was the eighth-highest.

The veteran right tackle has been mostly solid this season. He struggled in Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, but he’s been an above-average right tackle for the three other games.

The Colts offensive line has only been together for one full game this season due to injuries, but Smith has started the campaign on a strong note as he looks to regain his form as one of the more reliable right tackles in the NFL.

Chargers’ Khalil Mack makes PFF’s Team of the Week for Week 4

Khalil Mack earned high praise from Pro Football Focus.

After a career day in the Chargers’ win over the Raiders, edge defender Khalil Mack was named to Pro Football Focus’ Team of the Week for Week 4.

Here is what they said about Mack’s performance:

Mack registered a sack around once every six pass-rushing snaps, finishing the game with six sacks and three hurries on 38 pass-rushing opportunities. It was an incredible bounce-back game for the veteran.

Mack earned an overall grade of 92.3, his highest mark since the 2020 season when he played with the Bears.

He posted six sacks, two of which resulted in fumbles. His six sacks are a career-high for a single game and a franchise record. It’s also tied for the second-most sacks in a single game in NFL history.

Mack was one sack shy of tying the single-game sack record, which is held by Pro Football Hall of Famer Derrick Thomas, dating back to 1990.

For a player who was quietly making an impact despite not recording a sack coming into this past weekend’s game, it was quite the way to raise some eyebrows and remind people that Mack is still a game-wrecker.

Wyatt Teller earns PFF’s Offensive Player of the Week for Week 10

Teller and Jack Conklin both made the All-Week 10 team

Welcome back to the Browns lineup, Wyatt Teller. We missed you. So did Pro Football Focus.

Teller’s first game back at right guard for Cleveland since getting injured in Week 4 resulted in two Browns RBs topping 100 yards on the ground. Some of that credit goes to Teller, who was PFF’s golden boy over the first quarter of the season. He picked up right where he left off with the PFF game graders in Week 10.

Teller earned PFF’s Offensive Player of the Week for his performance. Here’s what they had to say about No. 77’s big game,

Teller was the PFF Offensive Player of the Week in his last full game played back in Week 4 before getting hurt for his dominant run-blocking, and he took home the award in his first game back for the same exact reason. No guard came close to sniffing him in positively graded run block rate, and only one edged him out in negatively graded run block rate. He thrived in Kevin Stefanski’s outside zone heavy rushing offense against Houston.

Right tackle Jack Conklin also earned a spot on their team of the week, and the entire five-man band of brothers up front earned the offensive line of the week for Week 10.

Congrats are in order for two Browns who stood out in the Week 10 win over the Buffalo Bills. Center JC Tretter and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson were the top-graded players at their respective positions according to Pro Football Focus. That earned them spots on PFF’s Week 10 Team of the Week.

Tretter instantly validated his new contract extension with a great game against the Bills. He earned the highest grade of any center in Week 10, primarily on his pass protection,

Tretter turned in a 76.0 overall grade and 79.9 pass-blocking grade against the Bills in Week 10. He allowed just one pressure across 44 pass-blocking snaps.

Richardson was unbelievably effective against Josh Allen and the Bills. With the Buffalo OL paying extra attention to Myles Garrett, Richardson took advantage and posted a 91.8 grade for the week. He had three QB pressures and two stops on Allen, and his run defense grade of 83.7 is the highest for any Browns defensive lineman playing at least 30 snaps in a game all season.
