Two Rutgers Men’s Lacrosse players to compete in World Championship

Shane Knobloch and Ross Scott from Rutgers men’s lacrosse team will compete in the 2022 World Lacrosse Men’s U-21 World Championship

Two of the student-athletes from Rutgers men’s lacrosse team will compete in the 2022 World Lacrosse Men’s U-21 World Championship. Sophomore Shane Knobloch will play for Team USA and junior Ross Scott will play for Team Canada. Volunteer assistant coach Peter Dolan will serve on the coaching staff for Team Ireland. The event takes place from August 10 to August 20 at the  University of Limerick in Limerick, Ireland.

Both Knobloch and Scott were All-Americans for the Scarlet Knights last season while leading the team to a program first Final Four appearance. Rutgers also set records in wins, grabbing 15 victories, and ranked wins, including a win over No. 3 Penn, with six.

Knobloch continued to excel this past year, following up his Big Ten Freshman of the Year campaign with new career-best outputs. He posted 32 goals and 17 assists for 48 points. The Moorestown, New Jersey native even scored a team-best three goals in the NCAA Quarterfinals. He was named Honorable Mention All-American and First Team All-Big Ten.

Scott had a breakout season himself – leading the team in scoring with 50 goals and tallying 25 assists as a junior. The West Linn, Oregon native tied for the most goals in a single-season in Scarlet Knight history. Scott was named a Third Team All-American, Second Team All-Big Ten, and to the All-Tournament teams for the NCAA Tournament and Big Ten Tournament.

You can watch the event on ESPN platforms, with the event culminating in a championship match at 7:00 p.m. on August 20.
