Penn State at Indiana: Three things to know
- Both teams are looking to break through with their first conference victory of the season. The Hoosiers are coming off losses to Northwestern and Illinois; the Nittany Lions are coming off losses to Michigan and Illinois. PSU and IU both finished in the middle of the pack in last year’s Big Ten standings.
- The Penn State defense has scuffled this season, allowing 74.5 points per game (11th Big Ten). PSU coughed up 98 points in its last game (Dec. 23 vs. Illinois) and has yielded that total twice this season. The Lions have held foes under 70 in their other four games.
- PSU and IU split a pair of games in 2019-20, with each team winning at home. Indiana beat Penn State, 68-60, in a Feb. 23 game at Assembly Hall. At home in the series, the Hoosiers are three for their last three, both straight-up and against the spread.

Penn State at Indiana: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks
Prediction
Indiana 70, Penn State 67
Money line (ML)
STEER CLEAR. At Indiana -220, it would be tempting to try and middle this game, taking IU on the money line and PSU against the spread.
Against the spread (ATS)
BACK THE NITTANY LIONS +5.5 (-110). The Lions have been game in road efforts against Virginia Tech (75-55 win) and Michigan (62-58 loss); both were ATS wins (both Unders by double-digit margins).
Penn State was undone by a late first-half slide in its last game at Assembly Hall. A solid second half had the game in one-possession territory until the waning moments of an eventual Indiana cover. And bettors look to be exhibiting a bit of recency bias in carding too much emphasis in PSU’s last game. The Lions can outshoot the Hoosiers at the line and from beyond the arc, so a one-score game is a solid likelihood.
Over/Under (O/U)
The total has gone Under in four of Indiana’s last five games and in nine of Penn State’s last 13. The Under is also: 14-6 in the last 20 games of this series … 4-0 in PSU’s last four against winning teams … 4-1 in follow-up games after the Lions allow 90-plus the previous game.
The Penn State defense isn’t top end in the Big Ten, but it’s better than some early results would indicate.
TAKE THE UNDER 140.5 (-110).
