New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The New Orleans Pelicans (5-21) take on the Indiana Pacers (11-15) Sunday. Tip-off from Gainbridge Fieldhouse is set for 5 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Pelicans vs. Pacers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Pels have lost 9 of 10 after a 111-109 heartbreaker Thursday against the Sacramento King, but they did cover as 7-point dogs. G CJ McCollum did all he could with 36 points on 6-for-11 from downtown. The Pelicans are grounded by injuries to F Zion Williamson (hamstring) and F Brandon Ingram (ankle), who will both miss this game as well.

The Pacers are coming off a 121-107 victory at the Philadelphia 76ers Friday. G Tyrese Haliburton had 32 points and 11 assists while drilling 7-for-15 from downtown. The Pacers are just 2-6 over their last 8 games. They’re 29th in the NBA in rebounds, and their defensive rating is a paltry 25th. Their offense hasn’t quite clicked on all cylinders thus far, which is why they’re off to such a rough start.

Pelicans at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 120, Pelicans 115

Moneyline

Each of these teams won on their home floor. NOLA won 125-118 Nov. 1 at home, and Indy failed to cover as 6.5-point faves in a 114-110 win Nov. 25. I’m not considering either side of the pendulum here.

Instead, I’m going with MYLES TURNER OVER 1.5 3-POINTERS (-125). He went 0-for-3 from downtown in the last game, but he was defended by the larger C Joel Embiid. He had 2+ 3’s in 4 of the 5 games before that Philly game and hit 2 3’s in both games against the Pels this year.

Against the spread

As mentioned, the Pels covered here Nov. 25 in a 114-110 loss, and I like them to do it again. Haliburton is so inconsistent and streaky for Indy. And while the Pelicans are really short-handed, G Trey Murphy III is having a breakout season with 18.2 PPG in support. Indy is just 2-7-1 ATS over their last 10.

Take the PELICANS +6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Pels are 4-1 O/U in their last 5 games, whereas the Pacers are just 3-3-1 in their last 7. The Over is 1-1 in this matchup this year. Neither team plays much defense, and unless they just can’t hit the ocean from a boat, the OVER 231.5 (-110) is the way to go.

Pelicans at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 115, Pelicans 104

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on Indiana (-250) to beat a New Orleans (+200) team that is 1-9 in its last 10 games.

Against the spread

BET PACERS -6.5 (-110).

New Orleans has failed to cover in 7 of its last 10 games, including each of its last 4 on the road and 6 of its last 9 games as an underdog. It is dealing with several injuries, including Williamson, who is averaging 22.7 points  and 8 rebounds per game. Playing at home, expect the Pacers to take advantage for an easy win.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 225.5 (-110).

While the Pacers have hit the Over in 7 of their last 10 games, they have scored 115 or fewer points in 2 of their last 3 games and 5 of their last 9. The Pelicans have failed to hit the Over in 7 of their last 10 games while scoring under 108 points 10 straight games, including 101 or fewer points in 5 of their last 6.

New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New Orleans Pelicans (3-14) travel to Gainbridge Fieldhouse Saturday to take on the Indiana Pacers (6-11). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Pelicans at Pacers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Having recently returned SF Brandon Ingram, the Pelicans look like, at the very least, a capable team.

Despite being down 12 at half, the Pelicans roared back and took down the Clippers Friday night. On the season, they’re 7-10 against the spread (ATS) and 4-12-1 on the over/under.

The Pacers are a solid team from top to bottom with C Myles Turner, PG Malcolm Brogdon, SG Caris LeVert and PF Domantas Sabonis leading the charge.

The Pacers are 8-9 ATS and 6-11 on the over/under. It’s been a tough season, but now healthy, they’ll enter as home favorites.

Pelicans at Pacers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 108, Pelicans 103

Money line

PASS.

While the Pacers should come out on top, betting it against a capable Pelicans team at -350 just isn’t smart.

I’d look to the spread.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the PELICANS +7.5 (-120) as they looked great against the Los Angeles Clippers Friday.

Ingram has brought a new spark to this team. With C Jonas Valančiūnas in the lineup as well, this team is full of playmaking with its star back in action.

The Pelicans have the 26th-best offensive rating and are even worse defensively. Ingram changes all that. Given a 7.5-point spread, they should be able to keep this game close.

Also, the Pacers have the 20th-best net rating in the NBA and have yet to show their playoff-caliber upside. Against a team that’s better than they’re given credit for, I think they’ll struggle to cover this spread.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 208.5 (-110) as the Pelicans are a different team with Ingram leading the way, and LeVert’s return has aided the Pacers offense. The Pacers rank 15th in offensive rating and 19th in defensive rating.

With 3-point shooting at all positions, the Pacers should be able to get points on the board. The Pacers are in the middle of the league in most key statistics.

The NBA’s Unders hitting at such a high rate has sent these numbers lower, and 208 is one of those that would’ve likely been far higher preseason.

With all the talent that should be taking the court, betting the Over feels like the better value.

New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s New Orleans Pelicans at Indiana Pacers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The New Orleans Pelicans (8-12) stop by the Bankers Life Fieldhouse Friday to play the Indiana Pacers (12-10) at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Pelicans-Pacers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

New Orleans just finished a five-game homestand with a 3-2 record (3-2 against the spread) after beating the Phoenix Suns 123-101 Wednesday. The Pelicans had the fifth-highest offensive rating and the highest assist to turnover ratio in the Association during their homestand.

The Pacers were steamrolled their last time out by the Milwaukee Bucks, 130-110, as 9-point road underdogs. Indiana is 2-3 overall and ATS in its last five games partially due to the Pacers’ opponents being top-10 in “miscellaneous” metrics such as points off of turnovers, in transition, in the paint and second-chance points in those games.

Indiana stole one from New Orleans in the first meeting of the season with a 118-116 overtime road win. Former Pacers SG Victor Oladipo was Indiana’s leading scorer in that game but has since been traded to the Houston Rockets.

Pelicans at Pacers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pelicans 118, Pacers 112

Money line (ML)

Indiana got a fluky win against New Orleans in their first meeting, and if the second game goes anything like the first, the Pelicans should win handily.

The Pacers scored six points in the final 20.5 seconds of the fourth quarter thanks to an Oladipo three, steal in the backcourt followed by a C Myles Turner 27-foot three to send the game into overtime. Also, if Pelicans All-Star SF Brandon Ingram doesn’t shoot 12-for-31 from the field in the first game, New Orleans wins.

In the last three Pelicans-Pacers games, New Orleans has out-rebounded Indiana in each, and in the last two games, the Pelicans have held a 16- and 15-rebound edge.

Judging by the market action, sharp money believes this was a fluky win as more money is on the Pelicans while more actual bets placed are with the Pacers, according to Pregame.com. And generally the money column in the sharp side of the market.

Let’s follow the money and TAKE PELICANS (+105) for 1 unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS the spread unless this somehow gets up to Pelicans +2.5.

Over/Under (O/U)

I lean OVER 227.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit since there are so many Over-friendly trends such as New Orleans having an 8-1 O/U record in its last nine, Indiana going Over in three straight and the last four Pelicans-Pacers games going Over the total.

However, I’d only place a small wager on it since the Pacers have been inconsistent on offense recently but defend midrange shots well, which is something New Orleans does a lot of.
