The third men’s golf major of the year is the 121st U.S. Open.

Torrey Pines in San Diego is hosting the national championship for a second time. In 2008, Tiger Woods outdueled Rocco Mediate in an epic Monday playoff.

There will be limited fans in attendance, as was the case two weeks ago at the U.S. Women’s Open in San Francisco, but there will be gobs of live coverage on TV and on your phone.

NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock are teaming up to provide 45 hours of live coverage. Toss in the featured holes and featured groups and there’s more than 100 hours of live golf to gorge on this week.

Peacock unveiled a hilarious, never-seen-before cold open from ‘The Office’

Amazing.

With the end of 2020, fans of The Office found themselves needing to change platforms to enjoy any of the show’s nine seasons.

The Office had previously been available to stream on Netflix, but on Friday, NBC’s premium streaming service, Peacock, took over as the new home for the popular series.

And sure, some The Office fans weren’t happy to have to dish out more money for another streaming service. But Peacock did offer up quite the treat with a never-seen-before cold open.

Basically, the five-minute open featured Jim, Pam and Hank (played by the late Hugh Dane) as they teamed up to trick Dwight into recreating Neo’s recruitment in The Matrix movie. It was glorious and even had a twist.

I’m not sure how that cold open failed to make the cut for any of the actual episodes, but hey, at least we finally got a chance to enjoy it.

U.S. Women’s Open to be streamed exclusively on Peacock

Don’t look for streaming coverage on the USGA website nor on the NBC Sports Gold app. Peacock has the exclusive streaming rights.

Golf fans, get ready once again for Peacock.

It’s NBC’s new app and many golf fans were likely introduced to it for the first time in September when they were scrambling to find the streaming coverage of the U.S. Open.

Well, it’s back for this week’s U.S. Women’s Open so don’t look for streaming coverage on the USGA website nor on the NBC Sports Gold app. Peacock has the exclusive streaming rights this time around.

The complete TV listings for the U.S. Women’s Open on NBC, Golf Channel and Peacock are here. Here are the live windows (in EST) for Peacock over the first three rounds.

  • Thursday, Dec. 10, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 11, 1 p.m.-3 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 12, 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

You can find Peacock on your computer by going here. You do need to create an account but it’s free. You can also download it on your phone. If you have an Amazon Firestick, there’s a thing called sideloading, a handy trick you can use to add Peacock to your TV.

How to watch: TV, streaming information for the 75th U.S. Women’s Open

NBC and Golf Channel are teaming up to provide 25 hours of live coverage from Houston of the 75th U.S. Women’s Open, the final major of 2020.

NBC and Golf Channel are teaming up to provide 25 hours of live television coverage of the 75th U.S. Women’s Open, the final major in golf for the 2020 calendar year.

For the first time in U.S. Women’s Open history, the championship will be staged on two golf courses. With reduced daylight due to the move to December and with 156 players still in the field, both Cypress Creek Course and the Jackrabbit Course at Champions Golf Club in Houston will split up the action in the first and second rounds. The third and final rounds will then be at Cypress over the weekend.

The tournament was originally scheduled for June 4-7. This is the first-ever December U.S. Women’s Open and the second time it will be played in Texas.

Champions Golf Club previously hosted the 1967 Ryder Cup, the 1969 U.S. Open and the 1993 U.S. Amateur.

In the event there’s a tie after four rounds, a two-hole aggregate playoff will take place immediately following the final round, followed by sudden death, if necessary.

Jeongeun Lee6 is the defending champion. The winner of the U.S. Women’s Open earns $1 million.

U.S. Open switches to Peacock, sports fans are left scrambling

If you’re trying to watch the U.S. Open Thursday afternoon and you can’t find it, you probably feel like flipping someone the bird.

NBC has a new app, maybe you’ve heard of it, or even Googled it. It’s called Peacock.

If you’re trying to watch the U.S. Open Thursday afternoon and you can’t find it, you probably feel like flipping someone the bird.

The 120th U.S. Open was on Golf Channel for six and a half hours earlier in the day and then on good old, over-the-air, free NBC for three hours but the final two hours of live golf have switched over to Peacock.

Problem is, Peacock doesn’t quite have Netflix-level penetration across the U.S. and many sports fans are probably still scrambling as this story was being typed, looking for that app. NBCUniversal reported on Sept. 15 that 15 million people have signed up. It first debuted about three months ago for Comcast and Cox subscribers.

They’re probably banking on acquiring more by using a major championship to spur sports fans to jump on board.

Good news: You can find Peacock on your computer by going here. You do need to create an account but it’s free.

Reports on Twitter are that Peacock is not on the Roku. It’s been confirmed that it’s also not on the Amazon Firestick, but, there’s a work-around for that. Just watch this youtube video to figure out how to add the app to your Firestick.

You can watch live golf on the USGA’s website here.

The USGA has tweeted a message about how to find Peacock.

Fans took to Twitter to vent:

The live coverage on Peacock goes till 7 p.m. ET on Thursday and Friday. The first two hours on the weekend (9-11 a.m. on Saturday, 8-10 a.m. on Sunday) are also on this new app.
