Talbott (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is coming off his quickest career win, a 19-second knockout of Yanis Ghemmouri at UFC 303 back in June. On the other hand, his opponent, Barcelos (18-5 MMA, 7-4 UFC), is coming off a submission win over Cristian Quiñonez back in February. The win snapped a two-fight losing streak for the 37-year-old veteran, who’s 2-4 in his past six trips to the octagon.

The current UFC 311 lineup includes:

  • Jamahal Hill vs. Jiri Prochazka
  • Kevin Holland vs. Reinier de Ridder

Caolan Loughran thinks Payton Talbott is getting ‘too much hype,’ would absolutely fight him next

Caolan Loughran hasn’t seen enough out of Payton Talbott to warrant all his buzz.

MANCHESTER, England – [autotag]Caolan Loughran[/autotag] hasn’t seen enough out of [autotag]Payton Talbott[/autotag] to warrant all his buzz.

Talbott (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) continued to live up to his hype after a 19-second knockout of Yannis Ghemmouri at UFC 303 in July.

Loughran (9-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) thinks Talbott is skilled, but was particularly critical of his UFC debut win over Nick Aguirre, in which he was taken down twice and controlled before ultimately winning by third-round submission.

“Payton Talbott is a good fighter – 100 percent a good fighter,” Loughran told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at the UFC 304 media day. “Fair play to him going well, but Jesus Christ, man: Cool the jets. I watched his debut. Whenever (Conor) McGregor was coming up, people were saying when he fights a grappler, he’ll get smashed. When (Sean) O’Malley was coming up, when he fights a grappler, he’ll get smashed. But it was speculation, really. We hadn’t seen it. I watched his debut, some lad (Aguirre) – I don’t know who the guy was – comes out, takes him down, takes the back, flattens him out, gasses.

“Comes out second round, gassed again, finds himself on his back. I’m like, ‘Jeez, lad, you’re giving your back every time.’ He is a good fighter – 100 percent and fair play to him. He sparked that kid (Yanis) Ghemmouri who pulled out on me Tuesday morning. I would urge anyone who’s watching this to hit pause and watch UFC France – there’s a video of him warming up for that fight – before you blow Payton up over that win. He is good, but he’s getting a wee bit too much hype at the weight class. There’s definitely tougher fights at 135 for less hype.”

Loughran will look to make it two straight when he takes on short-notice replacement Jake Hadley (10-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) in Saturday’s UFC 304 (pay-per-view, ESPN2, ESPN+) prelims at Co-op Live in Manchester, England.

He expects to run through Hadley – who will be moving up to bantamweight for the fight, then he’s open to fighting Talbott next.

“If the UFC want me to do that at the end of this year or the next, absolutely no f*cking problem,” Loughran said. “I’ll fight Payton Talbott next, no problem.”

Prospect Payton Talbott calls out Adrian Yanez after UFC 303 win: ‘That’s a dogfight’

Payton Talbott explains why he called out Adrian Yanez following his quick KO win at Saturday’s UFC 303.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Payton Talbott[/autotag] is not afraid to call for the big names, even though he’s still early into his UFC career.

The bantamweight prospect issues a callout over a battle-tested Adrian Yanez following his latest victory this past Saturday in the preliminary card of UFC 303. Talbott (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC), who stopped Yanis Ghemmouri (12-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) in just 19 seconds, uses his post-fight interview in the cage to shoot his shot at one of the better strikers of the division,

“Adrian Yañez, let’s see if you belong in that top 20,” Talbott said on the mic. “I know I feel I belong there, and I know that’s a good fight for me.”

Later, speaking with reporters at the UFC 303 post-fight press conference, Talbott explained why he had Yanez on his mind.

“I just think that’s a dogfight,” Talbott said. “I just think that’s a tough fight, and we would put on a really good show, and it would just be fireworks. I respect the dude.”

As far as the performance, Talbott is turning many heads in the MMA community. He’s aware of the hype he’s starting to generate, and although the quick finish on Saturday fuled that, he does wish the fight would’ve gone longer.

“Everything is happening superfast,” Talbott said. “It’s kind of bittersweet. I kind of wanted to get more of that fight than I did, but it’s always good to come over prepared.”

[autotag]Payton Talbott[/autotag] needed just 19 seconds to level up his hype Saturday at UFC 303.

Talbott (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) continued the impressive start to his octagon tenure when a clean shot of Yanis Ghemmouri (12-3 MMA, 0-2 UFC) in the opening round of their bantamweight bout at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, then pounced to finish the job in just 19 seconds.

The finish marked the second-fastest knockout in UFC bantamweight history, and you can watch the replay of the finish below (via X):

Henry Cejudo: UFC 303’s Payton Talbott ‘a threat for any of us in the top 10’

Henry Cejudo has high praise for undefeated UFC bantamweight Payton Talbott.

[autotag]Henry Cejudo[/autotag] has high praise for undefeated UFC bantamweight [autotag]Payton Talbott[/autotag].

Talbott (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) meets Yanis Ghemmouri (12-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on Saturday’s UFC 303 (pay-per-view, ESPN, ESPN+) prelims at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. When highlighting the UFC 303 prelims, former dual champion Cejudo said he’s looking forward to watching Talbott, a Dana White’s Contender Series alum, the most.

“I’m gonna have to go with Payton Talbott, man,” Cejudo said on his “Pound 4 Pound” podcast with Kamaru Usman. “He’s 5-foot-10, he’s undefeated, he’s a wreck, man. He’s mentally a strong kid, he’s been finishing people in the UFC. He’s come out to (Arizona), worked with me for a few days. The dude’s got crazy talent. He’s a prospect.

“He’s definitely like a high-profile prospect that’s kind of going under the radar, man. Really good striking, has takedowns, has submissions. We’re talking about a guy who’s well rounded, yet he is still growing, and I think there’s a reason why the UFC is putting him on this card.”

Talbott put on a clinic when he was matched up against fellow unbeaten prospect Cameron Saaiman at UFC on ESPN 53 in March, finishing him by Round 2 TKO. His dominant performance led oddsmakers to peg him as a whopping -1600 favorite over Ghemmouri.

Cejudo thinks the hype is warranted.

“That being said, this guy is a threat for any of us in the top 10,” Cejudo said. “I mean, that dude going to come up, and the dude’s going to make a statement.”

Payton Talbott suggests Dominick Cruz as next opponent following TKO win at UFC on ESPN 53

UFC prospect Payton Talbott would like to fight former champion Dominick Cruz next.

LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Payton Talbott[/autotag] hopes his latest win in the octagon gets him some big opportunities.

The undefeated bantamweight made a big statement Saturday when he viciously stopped fellow prospect Cameron Saaiman on the main card of UFC on ESPN 53 at the UFC Apex. Talbott (8-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is hoping this gets him a fight in an arena and in front of a crowd next, as well as maybe even a big-name opponent.

“I don’t really know too many people in my division, but maybe Dominick Cruz,” Talbott said at the UFC on ESPN 53 post-fight press conference when asked about whom he’d like to face next.

Talbott thinks the win over Saaiman (9-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) should show the MMA world he’s primed for big things.

“I’m exponentially passing up the rankings, and I’m going to try to get into the top 15 hopefully pretty soon,” Talbott said.

Talbott’s ultimate goal is to fight for the UFC bantamweight title. He knows there’s work to be done, but has no problem putting in the miles.

“I just need to keep having performances like that, do my dirty work and just keep beating dogs like that,” Talbott said. “Now I need to put my time in and solidify myself against game opponents, and I’m more than willing to do that.”
