With Darren Till out, ex-UFC fighter Uriah Hall steps in to box Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on July 20

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will box on July 20 after all but against a different former UFC fighter.

[autotag]Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.[/autotag] will box on July 20 after all but against a different former UFC fighter.

Instead of Darren Till, Chavez Jr. now will meet [autotag]Uriah Hall[/autotag] (1-0) in a six-round cruiserweight boxing match, Most Valuable Promotion officials announced Thursday morning. The event airs on DAZN pay-per-view.

Chavez Jr. (53-6-1) was scheduled to face former UFC title challenger Till on Netflix – on the same card as Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson. However, after Paul vs. Tyson was postponed to Nov. 15, Till vented frustration on staying motivated to wait until then following long training camp.

Paul decided to stay busy in the meantime by boxing BKFC star Mike Perry July 20 in Tampa, Fla. It’s unclear why Till isn’t still competing against Chavez Jr.

Former WBC middleweight champion Chavez Jr. hasn’t competed since defeating David Zegarra by unanimous decision in December 2021. Prior to that, he lost a split decision to ex-UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

After parting ways with the UFC in July 2022, Hall made his successful professional boxing debut when he defeated ex-NFL standout Le’Veon Bell by unanimous decision on the main card of Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva in October 2022.

Daniel Cormier: Mike Perry will ‘make this fight just ugly enough’ to beat Jake Paul

Daniel Cormier thinks Mike Perry is capable of overcoming a size disadvantage to hurt Jake Paul in the boxing ring.

[autotag]Daniel Cormier[/autotag] thinks [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] will shock [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] in the boxing ring.

Perry (0-1) faces Paul (9-1) in an eight-round cruiserweight boxing match July 20 in Tampa, Fla. The event airs on DAZN pay-per-view.

Perry has had tremendous success as a bare-knuckle boxer. “Platinum” is 5-0 under the BKFC banner, including stoppages of former UFC champions Luke Rockhold and Eddie Alvarez. He managed to out-brawl all of his opponents in bare-knuckle boxing, and Cormier thinks he can do the same to Paul., despite the bigger gloves and different ruleset.

“Can Mike Perry stalk him in the way that he stalks these guys in bare knuckle? And does the damage make Jake Paul start to question himself like he did to Luke Rockhold, like he did to Thiago Alves?” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “I mean, he hurt Eddie Alvarez bad. These are tough guys. What we’ve learned about Jake is that he possesses enough skills to cause problems for many in the boxing ring.

“He’s going to be bigger than Perry, he’s going to have more boxing experience than Perry, but does that equate (a win)? If I’m being honest with you, I believe that Mike Perry wins this fight. I think he’s going to make this fight just ugly enough to beat Jake. But if he doesn’t, and if his game plan isn’t ideal, he will find himself putting himself in dangerous areas, and Jake Paul can crack.”

Paul, 27, will take on Perry, 32, less than four months before facing Mike Tyson on Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Paul was originally scheduled to face Tyson on July 20 before a medical issue forced the boxing legend out. “The Problem Child” is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of Andre August and Ryan Bourland.

Jake Paul: I’m risking ‘biggest payday of my career’ by facing Mike Perry before Mike Tyson

Jake Paul knows fighting Mike Perry just months before he enters the ring vs. Mike Tyson could cost him big.

[autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] knows fighting [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] just months before he enters the ring vs. [autotag]Mike Tyson[/autotag] could cost him big.

Paul (9-1) will take on ex-UFC fighter turned bare-knuckle boxer Perry (0-1) in an eight-round cruiserweight boxing match July 20 in Tampa, Fla. The event airs on DAZN pay-per-view.

“The Problem Child” was scheduled to face Tyson on that date live on Netflix, but their fight was postponed to Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas after the boxing legend had an ulcer flareup.

“Why Mike Perry? Why now? Why not just wait? What about Mike Tyson? Yes, I am still fighting Mike Tyson Nov. 15,” Paul said on his YouTube channel. “However, Mike Tyson is one of the baddest men on this planet, he has way more experience than me, he’s a killer, and so why not gain more experience against another notorious known killer, Mike Perry? The bare-knuckle legend, the man that can’t be knocked out, the vicious, violent, brawler.

“This guy is a f*cking lunatic. He’s undefeated in bare-knuckle, which is probably the craziest sport in the world. Not to mention, this fight has been brewing for years. …I think this fight is going to have some amazing press conference moments and really entertaining stuff that comes from it, but it is a major risk. I’m literally potentially sacrificing the biggest moment of my career, the biggest payday of my career if I lose to Mike Perry. But for some reason, these are the positions that I like to put myself in.”

Paul, who’s coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of Andre August in December, then Ryan Bourland in March, is predicting a finish of Perry. “Platinum” was knocked out in his lone professional boxing match, but has only been knocked out once in 22 professional MMA fights.

“My official prediction for the fight: Three rounds or less,” Paul said. “Calling it now. These guys can’t hang with me, nobody’s really been able to see my skill from the past year. I’ve had new coaches, development has gone f*cking amazing, and I’m excited to put on a performance July 20.”

Jake Paul vs. Mike Perry boxing match booked for July 20

YouTube star Jake Paul is set to box BKFC star Mike Perry on July 20.

Well, it looks like [autotag]Jake Paul[/autotag] is going to box a Mike after all this summer, but not Mike Tyson.

The YouTube star turned professional boxer is set to compete against former UFC fighter and now bare-knuckle boxer [autotag]Mike Perry[/autotag] in a boxing match on July 20 in Tampa, Fla.

Most Valuable Promotions announced the eight-round cruiserweight bout on Tuesday. It will air on DAZN pay-per-view.

Paul (9-1) was originally scheduled to fight Tyson on July 20 live on Netflix, but the bout was postponed to November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. “The Problem Child” is coming off back-to-back first-round knockouts of Andre August in December, followed by Ryan Bourland in March.

Paul said he intends to beat Perry, then will still fight Tyson on Nov. 15 in Arlington, Texas.

“When Paul vs. Tyson was rescheduled, I knew immediately that I wanted to still fight on Saturday, July 20. Now, as I prepare for my fight against Iron Mike, there’s no better opponent for me than Mike Perry,” said Jake Paul. “He’s a proven knockout artist who has shown to be a maniac in and out of the ring. This is the perfect experience for me to gain in advance of facing Mike Tyson. But getting that experience comes with risk. Those who know me know I’m a risk taker and while ‘Platinum’ Perry might try to end me, I’m Titanium Jake Paul and I fear no man. I’m going to get the W and give everyone a preview of what I’m bringing to the ring against Mike Tyson. Tune in on DAZN PPV as I return to Tampa and send ‘Platinum’ Perry the Platypus back to bare knuckle for good.”

Meanwhile, Perry (0-1), who hold the King of Violence title in BKFC, is undefeated since leaving the UFC in 2021. Most recently, he defended his title against Thiago Alves in April. He’s defeated several notable names in his bareknuckle boxing run, including Michael Page, Luke Rockhold, and Eddie Alvarez.

“Jake Paul claims he fears no man, but on Saturday, July 20, the world will see the truth: he just made the worst mistake of his life in trying to get through me before Iron Mike,” said Mike Perry. “I’m going to make it look easy on Saturday July 20th, and I’m going to teach Jake Paul the most he’s ever learned about fighting.”

Also added to the card is Amanda Serrano vs. Stevie Morgan in a super lightweight bout of 10, two-minute rounds.
