3 Ravens players leave Week 3 vs. Patriots before halftime following injuries, two carted off field

The Ravens had three players leave the game prior to halftime with injuries in Week 3 vs. the Patriots

The Baltimore Ravens were in Foxborough for a Week 3 matchup with the New England Patriots. The team has had multiple health concerns throughout the first few weeks of the 2022 season, and against New England three key contributor left the game with injuries prior to halftime.

Ravens offensive tackle Patrick Mekari was carted off the field with an ankle injury with 9:33 left to play in the first quarter. Mekari could be seen holding his lower left leg. Outside linebacker Justin Houston was also injured, leaving the field with a groin injury and was listed as questionable to return. Not too long after Houston left the field, defensive tackle Michael Pierce was carted off the field and could be seen holding his left arm. Mekari and Pierce were initially ruled as questionable before being ruled out, while Houston wa listed as questionable.

Ravens rookie fourth-round pick offensive tackle Daniel Faalele came in for Mekari. During the first nine quarters of the regular season, Baltimore has used three players at left tackle in Ja’Wuan James, Patrick Mekari and now Faalele. James was placed on season-ending injured reserve with a torn achilles after Week 1. When it comes to outside linebacker, the team is already limited at the position with just Odafe Oweh and Brandon Copeland, aside from Houston, active.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh explains how happy he is for OL Patrick Mekari on extension

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh explained how happy he is for offensive lineman Patrick Mekari, who signed a three-year extension

The Baltimore Ravens have done a great job at retaining their own free agents on deals that make sense for both the player and the team. They’ve recently signed players such as fullback Patrick Ricard, tight end Nick Boyle, safety Chuck Clark and others to extensions that have been well-received.

On Thursday, Baltimore signed versatile offensive lineman Patrick Mekari to a three-year extension worth around $15.4 million. When Ravens head coach John Harbaugh was asked about the extension, he relayed just how happy was for Mekari, saying it was well-deserved.

“It’s just tremendous. You said it so well, that’s exactly what it is right there. He’s the best. He’s one of the best guys you’ll ever come across. He does all the things that if you’re a young player and you want to look at how to be successful in the National Football League, what priorities [to have], how to organize yourself, how to work [and] how to make the most of yourself as a football player, he’s the guy to look at, because he does it perfectly, day-in and day-out. I just have great admiration for him, great respect for him. [I’m] very happy for him; it’s well-deserved.”

Mekari has proven that he can play all five positions on the offensive line, something that is extremely valuable. He has spent time at center, guard and tackle over the course of his NFL career, but has broken out while playing at right tackle over the course of the 2021 season. He will be a depth piece on the Baltimore offensive line for years to come, and is also someone who can play high-quality snaps over a long period of time.

Ravens sign OL Patrick Mekari to three-year contract extension

The Ravens signed offensive lineman Patrick Mekari to a three-year contract extension

The Baltimore Ravens have many talented players on their offensive line. Many think of tackle Ronnie Stanley, center Bradley Bozeman or guard Kevin Zeitler, but one lineman has been a very underrated piece of what the team does on offense throughout his whole career in Patrick Mekari.

On Thursday, Baltimore announced that they had signed Mekari to a three-year contract extension. Ian Rapaport of NFL Network reported the details of the contract, saying the deal is work just over $15 million. By shelling out some money, they were able to retain one of their more versatile players.

This is a good move for the Ravens’ offensive line and the stability of it going forward. Since Mekari has been in Baltimore, he’s shown that he can play and succeed at any of the positions on the line.

The 24-year-old Mekari has stepped in to play center and right tackle due to other injuries and has excelled.  If the Ravens and Mekari didn’t come to an agreement on a deal, he would’ve become a restricted free agent this offseason.

By signing Mekari to this contract extension, it will let the team spend more time focusing on re-signing some of their other players this off season. Hopefully, Stanley will come back healthy next season and Bozeman can continue to be a solid center. However, even with Mekari in Baltimore long-term, general manager Eric DeCosta could still focus on selecting a few offensive lineman in the 2022 draft to continue building protection around quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Ravens announce inactives for Week 15 matchup vs. Packers

The Ravens have released their inactives list for their Week 15 matchup with the Packers

The Baltimore Ravens have had long injury reports all season long that have led to multiple inactives lists looking almost like Pro Bowl rosters for the team. That didn’t change in Week 15, as the Ravens announced their inactives before their matchup with the Green Bay Packers.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson is in fact inactive for the second time this season.  Jackson hadn’t practiced all week with an ankle injury that he suffered in the loss last week against the Cleveland Browns. Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh mentioned that he could still play no matter if he practiced or not, but the fourth-year signal caller will end up sitting out a game due to injury for the first time in his NFL career.

Other players that were deemed inactive include star defensive lineman Calais Campbell as well as fullback Patrick Ricard and starting offensive linemen Patrick Mekari and Ben Powers. The Packers also released their inactives.

This game between the Ravens and Packers is going to be an interesting one. Baltimore has been struggling on offense, and the defensive secondary is injury-riddled and have COVID related absences.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 14 matchup vs. Browns

The Ravens released their final injury report ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the Browns

Injuries have been a key storyline for the Baltimore Ravens during the 2021 season. They have seen their team be decimated by losing many different contributors on both sides of the ball, but still hold an 8-4 record, and lead their division in the AFC North.

On Friday, Baltimore released their final injury report ahead of their Week 14 matchup with the Cleveland Browns. Compared to injury reports of the past for the Ravens this was a breath of fresh air, as the team only had two players that didn’t practice, one of which was because of a rest day.

Only offensive lineman Patrick Mekari will carry the “out” designation into Sunday’s contest with Cleveland. Mekari suffered a hand injury in Baltimore’s Week 13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers and head coach John Harbaugh said that the offensive lineman would be out “for a while” so the fact that he won’t play in Week 14 comes as no surprise.

Cornerback Jimmy Smith missed practice for rest purposes, while fullback Patrick Ricard (back) and tight end Nick Boyle (illness/knee) both returned to the field in a limited fashion after sitting out both Wednesday and Thursday. Wide receiver Miles Boykin doesn’t appear to be in line to play on Sunday after being listed as doubtful with a finger injury.

The Baltimore Ravens are preparing to take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 14 of the 2021 season, marking the second time in three weeks that the two teams have matched up with one another. Baltimore was able to come out on top in Week 12 by the final score of 16-10.

On Wednesday, the Ravens released their first injury report ahead of their Week 14 contest with the Browns. The list once again featured a plethora of players from both sides of the ball, many of which have made key contributions over the course of the season so far.

Baltimore changed how the injury report graphic looks to include all three days instead of just one, seemingly to make it easier to track the practice status of each player across the course of the week. Players also are now listed in alphabetical order instead of by practice status.

The big injury to monitor for the Ravens is that of offensive lineman Patrick Mekari. Baltimore’s right tackle left the team’s Week 13 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers due to a hand injury, and after the game head coach John Harbaugh said that he would be out for “awhile”. He did not practice on Wednesday, and it’s assumed he will miss this game as well as a few more.

Dealing with illnesses seems to still be an issue for the Ravens, as four players are listed as having some type of sickness. The team gave outside linebacker Justin Houston a rest day, while cornerback Chris Westry practiced in full after missing last week’s game with a thigh injury.

Tight end Nick Boyle missed practice on Wednesday with an illness and a knee injury. He was unable to play in Week 13, and might have suffered some type of setback with the ailment he suffered in the middle of the 2020 season. However, the team could just be managing his workload and resting him.

Fullback Patrick Ricard (back), defensive lineman Calais Campbell (illness) and cornerback Anthony Averett (knee) are all among the players who were able to suit up against Pittsburgh that missed practice on Wednesday.

Ravens HC John Harbaugh gives grim injury updates on CB Marlon Humphrey, OL Patrick Mekari

Ravens head coach John Harbaugh gave grim injury updates on both cornerback Marlon Humphrey and offensive lineman Patrick Mekari

The Baltimore Ravens have gone through a massive amount of injuries over the course of the 2021 season. It feels like every week that a key player gets injured for a certain amount of time that keeps them out of meaningful action.

After Baltimore’s crushing 20-19 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh didn’t have good news on the injury front to report, as he said that both offensive lineman Patrick Mekari and cornerback Marlon Humphrey are expected out for multiple weeks.

“…A couple injury notes. Mekari, Pat Mekari has a hand issue. Could be a few weeks. And Marlon Humphrey has an issue. We’ll get an MRI, but it could be a while for Marlon. So, we’ll see.”

It was then reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network that Humphrey is “suspected” to be out for the remainder of the season with a shoulder injury.

If Rapoport’s sources are correct, the loss of Humphrey is yet another brutal blow to a Baltimore defensive unit that has already been decimated at multiple positions, especially in the secondary. They are already without cornerback Marcus Peters and safety DeShon Elliott for the season, and losing Humphrey would be another significant loss.

Mekari has been playing well at right tackle after the team has had to do some shuffling on their offensive line, but missed some time with a high-ankle sprain before his latest hand ailment. It’s likely that Tyre Phillips would fill in at right tackle for however long Mekari is absent for.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 11 matchup vs. Bears

The Ravens released their final injury report ahead of their Week 11 matchup with the Bears

The Baltimore Ravens are set to take on the Chicago Bears in Week 11 of the 2021 season. Baltimore is coming off of a disappointing 22-10 defeat to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10 which dropped their record to 6-3. However, they still hold the top spot in the AFC North.

The Ravens have dealt with a massive amount of injuries over the course of the 2021 season. Friday’s final injury report before Week 11 shows just that, as Baltimore had a whopping 17 players on the list, including some very high profile names such as quarterback Lamar Jackson, as well as wide receivers Marquise Brown and Rashod Bateman.

The injury report looks like a laundry list. However, it does point out that Jackson, Bateman, center Bradley Bozeman and tight end Nick Boyle were all full participants in practice, which bode very well for their availability on Sunday.

Limited participants included running back Latavius Murray, Brown, offensive lineman Patrick Mekari as well as cornerbacks Tavon Young and Jimmy Smith. Each of those players would give the Ravens a very big boost if they are able to play, and would be big losses if they couldn’t.

Cornerback Anthony Averett popped up on the injury report for the first time on Friday, as he did not participate in practice. It would be a crushing blow if Averett is unable to go in Chicago, as the Baltimore secondary is already extremely thin.

The Ravens ruled out wide receiver Miles Boykin, defensive lineman Brandon Williams and outside linebacker Pernell McPhee. Defensive lineman Calais Campbell had a rest day on Friday.

The Ravens released their first injury report ahead of a Week 11 matchup with the Bears

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off of a tough 22-10 Thursday night defeat in Week 10 at the hands of the Miami Dolphins. Despite the loss, the team finds themselves in the drivers seat of the AFC North, boasting a solid record of 6-3.

On Wednesday, the Ravens released their first injury report ahead of a Week 11 matchup with the Chicago Bears. The report features many starters and the return of a few players who has not practiced in weeks with running back Latavius Murray and offensive lineman Patrick Mekari.

Returning to practice with limited participation, Murray (ankle) and Mekari (ankle) could provide big boosts to the Baltimore offense. Murray last suited up in Week 6, and his return would be beneficial, as the team released running back Le’Veon Bell on Tuesday.

Wide receiver Marquise Brown (thigh), cornerback Jimmy Smith (hip), defensive tackle Brandon Williams (shoulder) and cornerback Tavon Young (foot) all missed practice with various ailments.

Quarterback Lamar Jackson and center Bradley Bozeman were not available to practice due to an illness, but it was confirmed to be not COVID-19 related. Closing out the report is outside linebacker Justin Houston who was given a day of rest.

Ravens release final injury report for Week 10 matchup vs. Dolphins

The Ravens released their final injury report on Wednesday ahead of a Thursday night matchup with the Dolphins

The Baltimore Ravens are currently 6-2 and atop the AFC North as they travel to Hard Rock Stadium to take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 10 of the 2021 season. The last time these teams met was two seasons ago, when the Ravens won 59-10 with quarterback Lamar Jackson throwing for five touchdowns.

On Wednesday, the Ravens released their final injury report of the week. The practice was a walk-through, so the injury report is a practice estimation.

Tight end Nick Boyle (knee), who could make his season debut on Thursday, was limited in practice and is questionable. Defensive tackle Brandon Williams (shoulder) did not participate in practice and is also listed as questionable.

Wide receiver Sammy Watkins (thigh), wide receiver Marquise Brown (back) and cornerback Tavon Young (knee) were full participants. Brown and Young don’t have an injury status ahead of the contest, while Watkins is listed as questionable.

Closing out the report is running back Latavius Murray (ankle) and offensive lineman Patrick Mekari (ankle) who did not participate. Both are doubtful after missing a full week’s worth of practice.
