Full fight video: Pat Miletich vs. Mike Jackson at Caged Aggression 36

55-year-old UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich dropped Mike Jackson with a punch early – but ultimately endurance got the best of him.

It’s not every day a 55-year-old UFC Hall of Famer comes out of retirement for one more fight.

That’s what [autotag]Pat Miletich[/autotag] did on Oct. 14 at Caged Aggression 36 in Davenport, Iowa, as he took on rival [autotag]Mike Jackson[/autotag] in a politically-charged three-round fight at 175 pounds. The fully-sanctioned professional bout was Miletich’s first MMA contest since December 2008.

Miletich dropped the 38-year-old Jackson early in the fight. He controlled much of the first and second rounds, but ultimately the discrepancy in cardio, endurance, and pacing proved to be the X-factor.

While the bout was initially behind a paywall, Caged Aggression released the full fight for free Thursday. It can be viewed above. Also, check out a full photo gallery from the event here.

Caged Aggression 36 results: Pat Miletich dominates Mike Jackson for two rounds, quits on stool

Mike Jackson now holds a win over a UFC Hall of Famer after Pat Miletich quit on the stool between rounds.

[autotag]Pat Miletich[/autotag] taped up the gloves for an MMA fight for the first time since 2008 for a grudge match against fellow UFC veteran Mike Jackson. The UFC Hall of Famer displayed a veteran savvy, but didn’t have the gas to make it across the finish line.

Miletich (29-7-2) and Jackson (1-2) went from being friends to bitter enemies over political differences. As two fighters do, they decided to settle things inside the cage for a bout that served as the main event of Caged Aggression 36 at River Center in Davenport, Iowa.

Miletich, 55, would dominate most of the fight, but did not make it off the stool to see the third round, crowning the 38-year-old Jackson the winner by TKO between rounds.

Jackson started the action with a pair of leg kicks. Miletich closed the distance, looking for a takedown. Jackson defended well and the fight returned to the center of the cage. But then, just as Jackson looked for another leg kick, Miletich dropped Jackson with a powerful right hand.

Miletich immediately followed to the canvas in side control, and looked to end the fight with an Americana. The submission wasn’t there, but Miletich then advanced to a crucifix position where he began raining down hard elbows. Jackson showed just enough defense to keep the referee from stopping the fight as Miletich maintained the top position for the remainder of the round.

Jackson started the second round putting together a few nice punches as a rapidly-gassing Miletich did his best to evade. The UFC Hall of Famer then completed a takedown and took full mount. Jackson covered up as Miletch opted to work short strikes from side control. With a minute to go, Jackson was able to get back to his feet. Miletich’s gas tank was all but empty as Jackson began marching forward with punches.

The fighters returned to their stools, but this is where the fight would come to an end. Miletich told his corner did could not continue and the fight was waved off.

Jens Pulver, another UFC Hall of Famer who was in Miletich’s corner, walked over to Jackson and exchanged words. According to the commentary team, Pulver told Jackson to be respectful in the aftermath of the fight.

Jackson and Miletich kept things cordial and shook hands after the announcement of the result.

During his post-fight interview, Jackson showed respect to Davenport for their decent food selection and Miletich, who he admitted still packs a powerful punch.

Miletich also offered considerate words for Jackson. He also said it was the first time he was ever so badly gassed in a fight that he couldn’t breathe, which made him feel like a “coward” because he trained so hard. The 55-year-old closed his post-fight interview by stating it was time for Americans to come together, and to realize that the political division in the country is “by design.”

Jackson walks away with his first win since a disqualification against Dean Barry at UFC Fight Night 205 last April. Miletich won his prior MMA outing in 2008 against Thomas Denny, but lost a kickboxing bout by split decision against Michael Nunn in 2020.

UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich to fight Mike Jackson in fully sanctioned pro MMA grudge match

In what’s billed as “a battle of skill, age, and ideology,” UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich, 55, will face Mike Jackson, 38, in an actual MMA bout.

UFC Hall of Famer and former champion [autotag]Pat Miletich[/autotag] plans to make a return to MMA competition – at 55.

In a fight that has a promotional push that revolves around “skill, age and ideology” differences, Miletich (29-7-2) will face 38-year-old former UFC fighter [autotag]Mike Jackson[/autotag] (1-2), according to Caged Aggression promoter Mike Goodwin, at a 175-pound contract weight.

After he announced the booking will take place Oct. 14 in Davenport, Iowa, as part of a special two-night event weekend at RiverCenter, Goodwin told MMA Junkie the bout will be a fully sanctioned pro MMA fight with three five-minute rounds with commission approval already acquired. MMA Junkie has reached out to the Iowa Athletic Commission to confirm and is awaiting response.

Although the two once were on good terms – Miletich cornered Jackson against CM Punk in the UFC in 2018 – the relationship since has dissolved into harsh feelings.

In January 2021, Miletich posted photos on social media from Washington D.C. that showed he was in attendance at the protest, at which supporters of then-president Donald Trump attempted to stop the certification by Congress of legally elected president Joe Biden.

Miletich wrote on Facebook he personally “saw zero violence” when he was in attendance, something he reiterated in an Instagram video when he announced he was relieved from LFA commentary duties.

“I just got a call from the folks at the LFA, and they informed me that they were getting a lot of pressure because I was at the Capitol, and I want you guys to know that the people who I walked with at the Capitol, none of them that I know of were involved in any of the violence,” Miletich said in his now-deleted Instagram video.

Jackson posted a story critical of Miletich, in which he called Miletich a “domestic terrorist,” and seemingly caught Miletich’s eye.

Shortly thereafter, LFA released a statement to MMA Junkie that said while Miletich was removed from the promotion’s next event, the organization was investigating the situation.

Around the same time as LFA’s statement, Miletich deleted the Instagram post. Miletich never returned to LFA commentary duties.

Since then, Miletich and Jackson have been public in their desire to fight one another. In December 2022, Jackson unloaded on Miletich in an interview with MMA Junkie.

“I’ve got people like Pat Miletich, this f*cking Nazi piece of sh*t, he’s texting me talking about, ‘This old man will f*ck you up, blah, blah, blah.’ And he’s talking about boxing, kickboxing and MMA,” Jackson said. “I was like, ‘Pat Miletich, please, let’s kickbox, dude.’ ‘Cause I don’t want the motherf*cker to hold me and sh*t in MMA. I don’t want to deal with all that, even though I still (know) I could wash Pat Miletich in MMA. I want to kickbox him so bad. It’s really because he’s just talking sh*t for no reason.”

In early 2023, Miletich said in an interview he agreed to fight Jackson in a kickboxing match, though it never materialized.

Miletich most recently competed in combat sports in July 2020 when he kickboxed former boxing champion Michael Nunn en route to a split decision loss. Miletich hasn’t competed in MMA since December 2008.

Jackson was released from the UFC in January 2023 after a 1-1 stint with one no contest (due to a failed marijuana test against CM Punk). His lone UFC win was a disqualification against Dean Barry.

LFA fires Pat Miletich after involvement in protest that led to Capitol insurrection

The UFC Hall of Famer said he “saw zero violence” while attending the protest on Capitol Hill that turned into an attempted coup.

UFC Hall of Famer [autotag]Pat Miletich[/autotag] announced Tuesday on Instagram that LFA has released him from his color commentating job after his participation in the Jan. 6 events that led to an attempted coup against the U.S. government.

Several social media posts showed Miletich as a part of the group that marched from a rally outside the White House to the U.S. Capitol building. From there, many in the group breached the Capitol as a joint session of Congress was in the process of certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory over incumbent President Donald Trump.

In the ensuing chaos, five people were killed, including a Capitol police officer, and dozens more were injured. There is no evidence that Miletich was personally involved in the storming of the Capitol; he said on Facebook that he “saw zero violence.”

“I just got a call from the folks at the LFA, and they informed me that they were getting a lot of pressure because I was at the Capitol, and I want you guys to know that the people who I walked with at the Capitol, none of them that I know of were involved in any of the violence,” Miletich said in his Instagram video.

“The LFA was getting a lot of pressure, and they felt they needed to distance themselves from me,” he later added. “I understand their position.”

MMA Junkie reached out to LFA with a request for comment, but it was not immediately returned.

Miletich is regularly name-checked on the list of great fighters from MMA’s early days. He defeated Mikey Burnett to become the first holder of the UFC’s 170-pound championship (then called lightweight, now welterweight) on Oct. 16, 1998, and made four successful title defenses. His last MMA fight was a win over Thomas Denny in 2008, although he participated in a kickboxing bout last summer.

In the interim, his Miletich Fighting Systems camp in Bettendorf, Iowa, was one of the first great MMA gyms, producing UFC champions Matt Hughes, Jens Pulver, and Tim Sylvia. Miletich was named to the UFC Hall of Fame pioneer wing in 2014.

Miletich has become a prominent figure in right-wing libertarian circles in recent years. While espousing limited government, MFS took out a federal loan for $8,700 on May 1, 2020 through the PPP program designed to help small businesses during the coronavirus pandemic

Miletich has twice been arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol in recent years, first in Iowa in 2018 and again in Illinois last year.
