Paramount Plus announces Christian Pulisic documentary series

The behind-the-scenes series will debut this fall

Paramount Plus has announced a multi-part documentary series on Christian Pulisic that will debut this fall.

The show, which will take place over multiple seasons, promises an “in-depth, behind-the-scenes look” at one of American soccer’s biggest stars.

“Christian Pulisic is the most high-profile men’s player to ever come out of America but very little is known about his personal life,” said Pete Radovich, CBS Sports senior creative director.

“We’re thrilled to be working with Christian to tell his life story, show the world who he really is, and highlight the tremendous impact he’s had on American soccer leading into the most demanding moments of his career.”

The show will begin filming this summer, and will follow Pulisic through the Copa América with the U.S. men’s national team. The series will then shift to Italy, where Pulisic will be embarking on his second season with AC Milan after a hugely successful debut campaign.

“I think it’s the perfect opportunity for me to show people a little bit of what it’s like being an American out in Europe, the struggles I go through, all these things,” Pulisic said in an interview on Paramount Plus.

“So for me, I think it’s a great time leading up to the World Cup in the U.S., so I’m just really excited about it.”

Patrick Stewart confuses Tua Tagovailoa, throws Hey Arnold like a football in latest Paramount+ ad

Wait … what?

Paramount found an incredibly strange, wholly delightful way of advertising its streaming service ahead of the 2024 Super Bowl.

As part of its long-running marketing for Paramount+ featuring various of the company’s characters, the latest promo featured an unlikely pairing of folks trying to scale the Paramount mountain.

The advertisement features, go with us here, Sir Patrick Stewart, Drew Barrymore, Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Survivor host Jeff Probst, Arnold from Hey Arnold!, Thomas Lennon’s Lt. Jim Dangle from Reno 911, Dora the Explorer, Knuckles from the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, Master Chief from Halo, Peppa Pig and two members of the band Creed.

We cannot fully spoil what’s about to happen because it is beyond description.

Okay, that was incredible, but we are also so, so confused as to what just happened. Maybe they’ll get up Paramount Mountain one of these days?

Until then, we’ll take a sequel with this exact group sooner than later.

Merger talks between Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery took fans by surprise

A possible merger between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount would change the entertainment landscape forever.

The entertainment landscape would again undergo a massive change if a possible merger between Warner Bros. Discovery and Paramount Global comes to fruition.

Axios reporter Sarah Fischer shared on Wednesday that Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and Paramount Global Bob Bakish met in New York City on Tuesday to discuss the potential for a merger.

“The duo discussed ways their companies could compliment one another. For example, each company’s main streaming service — Paramount+ and Max — could merge to better rival Netflix and Disney+,” Fischer reported.

The move would see two of the biggest film and television studios combine, as well as two major news branches (CNN and CBS News) and sports entertainment brands (Turner Sports and CBS Sports), if it were to actually go through, which is not a certainty in these early stages.

It would be the biggest move of its kind since Disney officially merged with Fox back in 2019.

Fischer adds that antitrust laws might not hold a Warner Bros. Discovery/Paramount deal back because of WBD’s lack of a broadcast network.

“Executives are confident that the deal would receive regulatory approval, despite D.C.’s active antitrust climate,” Fischer wrote. “Notably, Warner Bros. Discovery doesn’t own a broadcast network, which would clear an easier path than would a combination with a company like NBC owner Comcast.”

However, Puck shared recently that other entities like Skydance Media and RedBird Capital Partners have been reported as looking at buying a majority stake in Paramount’s parent company, National Amusements Inc.

A possible merger could involve Warner Bros. Discovery merging with just Paramount Global or NAI on a whole, per Axios.

For media fans, the news of another major corporate merger between two legacy media companies drew plenty of surprise and some reservation.

How to watch Inter Miami vs. FC Cincinnati: Messi starts hunt for second title

Just a month after his arrival, Messi is already close to a second trophy in North America

Just days after winning his first trophy with Inter Miami, Lionel Messi is already just two wins away from a second.

Messi, who helped Inter Miami win the Leagues Cup via a penalty shootout victory over Nashville SC in Saturday’s final, now moves onto another cup competition. FC Cincinnati awaits Inter Miami on Wednesday in the U.S. Open Cup semifinal.

Messi, along with ex-Barcelona teammates Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, will jump into Open Cup play after Inter Miami reached the last four prior to the trio’s arrival.

In FC Cincinnati, Inter Miami will face a strong, but wounded opponent.

FC Cincinnati has the best record in MLS, but their return to league play over the weekend did not go to plan.

The Columbus Crew are no slouch, but thrashing their “Hell Is Real” derby rivals 3-0 was not expected on Sunday. Not to mention, the Orange and Blue were knocked out by Nashville SC in the Leagues Cup round of 32 prior to that.

A betting man would guess FC Cincinnati regroups and brings a better game against Inter Miami. But enough to hand Messi & Co. their first defeat? That may be a hard wager to place.

Here is everything you need to know to catch all the action:
