Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning meet in Game 4 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 1st-round series Thursday. The Panthers lead the series 3-0. Puck drop from Amalie Arena is set for 5 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Lightning odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers dominated the Bolts in Game 3 with a 5-3 win and took a commanding 3-0 lead. LW Matthew Tkachuk netted 2 goals to give him 3 in the series. Florida has now won 7 of the last 8 meetings and put Tampa’s winning window at risk of closing.

The Lightning are just 2 for 12 on the power play in the series. RW Nikita Kucherov was a little more noticeable with 4 shots in Game 3 after just 3 SOG in the first 2 games, but he has no goals and 3 assists in the series. He just hasn’t delivered what the team needs thus far. The Lightning still have a chance to make it interesting as they were 25-11-5 on home ice this season.

  • Over/Under (O/U): 6 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Panthers at Lightning projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (36-17-4, 2.37 GAA, .915 SV%, 6 SO) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (30-20-2, 2.90 GAA, .900 SV%, 2 SO)

Bob has allowed 7 goals on 71 shots in the series to give him a 2.30 GAA and .901 SV%. The 3 goals that were netted in Game 3 were the most he has allowed in the last 5 games. The defense in front of him has been smothering, and they’ve kept the league-best power play (28.6%) to just 16.7%.

Vassy has regressed as the series has gone along, allowing 2, 3 and 4 goals, respectively. He stopped 26 of 30 shots in Game 3. He hasn’t looked the same all season, and that’s likely due to missing the early part due to back surgery. He’s still just 29 and has the ability to shut down a team at any point.

Panthers at Lightning picks and predictions

Prediction

Panthers 4, Lightning 2

Moneyline

This series ended in Game 3 as the Panthers are just too much for this Lightning squad. Kucherov just hasn’t been the game-breaking player he was during the regular season.

Take the PANTHERS -125 to complete the sweep.

Puck line/Against the spread

I don’t like either side of the puck line here.

We’re targeting MATTHEW TKACHUK OVER 3.5 SHOTS (-105) here, as he has 4+ shots in all 3 games in the series and in 5 straight overall. He sniffs blood and will continue applying pressure.

Over/Under

We’ve had 3-2, 3-2 and 5-3 finishes in the series, and I’m pegging this one to push. If it comes down to 5.5, I plan to hit the Over. Until then, though, the books have this one mapped out well.

PASS.

Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning meet in Game 3 of a best-of-7 Eastern Conference, 1st-round series Thursday. The Panthers lead the series 2-0. Puck drop from Amalie Arena is set for 7 p.m. ET (TBS). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Panthers vs. Lightning odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers endured the Lightning with a 3-2 overtime win in Game 2. It came at a cost, though, as C Sam Bennett is out with an upper body injury in this one. Bennett, who had 20 goals in the regular season, scored a goal in the 1st of Game 2.

The Lightning were just 1 for 6 on the power play in Game 2, and that will need to be improved upon in order to climb back in it. RW Nikita Kucherov has been kept off the score sheet with just 3 SOG in 2 games, but he has 2 assists. The Lightning were 25-11-5 on home ice this season.

Panthers at Lightning projected goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (36-17-4, 2.37 GAA, .915 SV%, 6 SO) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (30-20-2, 2.90 GAA, .900 SV%, 2 SO)

Bob has been solid, allowing just 2 goals in each game of the series. He really hasn’t been tested too much, though, stopping 17 in Game 1 and 21 in Game 2. He was 2-1-0 with a 2.71 GAA and .892 SV% in 3 games against Tampa during the regular season.

Vassy has been solid as well, despite being in an 0-2 hole. He stopped 25 of 27 in Game 1 and 34 of 37 in Game 2 as Florida has just turned up the decibels to ear-popping levels. He was 1-2-0 with a 4.50 GAA and .883 SV% in 3 regular season games against Florida.

Panthers at Lightning picks and predictions

Prediction

Lightning 3, Panthers 2

Moneyline

The Panthers have won 6 of the last 7 meetings — including 3 in this building. This really is the Lightning’s last stand, though, because if they lose this one, they’re likely getting swept. They have considerable questions to answer during the offseason as well with C Steven Stamkos becoming a free agent.

The Panthers are down a man, and I look for the Lightning to put up more than the handful of shots they’ve taken thus far.

Take the LIGHTNING -115 at a solid price.

Puck line/Against the spread

I’m going to pass on the puck line, but I will take a chance on something that will correlate with a Lightning win. Kucherov has to get going. Three shots on goal in 2 playoff losses looks bad, and I look for him to come out firing.

Take NIKITA KUCHEROV ANYTIME GOAL +140 for a good return.

Over/Under

At most, I see a push here. The Over is just 3-7 in the last 10 meetings between the clubs. We have had a 3-2 final in each game, and maybe an empty netter pushes it here.

LEAN UNDER 6 (-120).

Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 6 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 6 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Florida Panthers in Game 6 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Wednesday. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Amalie Arena. Below, we analyze the Panthers-Lightning odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers fought off elimination in Game 5 with an impressive 4-1 victory at BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla., to live another day. Rookie G Spencer Knight was given his first NHL postseason start, and he earned the win in the toughest of spots.

The Lightning frittered away their first of three chances to put away their Sunshine State rivals, but they’re still in very good shape. Tampa Bay lost Game 3 in its home arena by a 6-5 score in overtime but routed Florida 6-2 in Game 4 at Amalie.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:40 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers +125 (bet $100 to win $125) | Lightning -150 (bet $150 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Panthers +1.5 (-200) | Lightning -1.5 (+165)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Panthers at Lightning: Projected starting goalies

Spencer Knight (4-0-0, 2.32 GAA, .919 SV%) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (31-10-1, 2.21 GAA, .925 SV%, 5 SO)

Panthers head coach Joel Quenneville rolled the dice on the rookie Knight, and he looked like a genius. Knight turned aside 36 of the 37 shots he faced to pick up his first NHL postseason victory in Game 5.

Vasilevskiy wasn’t terrible Monday, as he allowed just 3 goals on 37 shots, but Knight was just a little better. The veteran is 3-2-0 with a 3.16 GAA and .919 SV% in five starts in this series.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lightning 3, Panthers 2

Money line (ML)

The LIGHTNING (-150) blew their chance to send the Panthers to the handshake line in Game 5. That won’t the case here, as Vasilevskiy should help the defending champs move along to the second round to face the winner of the Carolina-Nashville series in the Central Division Final.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Panthers +1.5 (-200) will cost you twice as much as your potential return, and that’s a little more than I am comfortable risking. The Lightning -1.5 (+165) are tempting at this price, but this one should be super close, and might even require overtime to hash out a winner.

AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-120) is the best play on the board. The later you get into a series, the more the goals are at a premium. It won’t be any different in this Game 6, unless Knight completely falls apart. It certainly won’t be the battle-tested Vasilevskiy who is dinged for a ton of goals.

Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 4 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers Game 4 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET at Amalie Arena. Below, we analyze the Panthers-Lightning odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers survived in overtime in Game 3, winning 6-5 as slight underdogs. After taking a 2-0 lead, the Lightning outscored the Panthers 5-1 in the second period. However, Florida scratched back to force overtime and won it on a Ryan Lomberg goal.

The Lightning have allowed 11 goals in the first three games, so the Panthers’ offense has plenty of confidence against Andrei Vasilevskiy. Tampa has scored 13 goals in the three games, however, and they still maintain home-ice advantage despite the Game 3 loss.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 6:05 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Lightning -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Panthers +1.5 (-200) | Lightning -1.5 (+170)
  • Over/Under: 6 (O: +100 | U: -120)

Panthers at Lightning: Projected starting goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (19-8-2, 2.91 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (31-10-1, 2.21 GAA, .925 SV%, 5 SO)

The Panthers went with Chris Driedger in Game 3 to start, but he was smacked around for five goals on 22 shots. Bobrovsky came on to start the third period and he turned aside all nine shots he faced to earn the OT win.

Vasilevskiy was tested early and often in Game 3, as he made 41 saves. But he also was beaten six times, including two times on the power play. The Lightning led 5-3 after 40 minutes, but Vasilevskiy allowed three goals in the final 25:56.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lightning 3, Panthers 2

Money line (ML)

The LIGHTNING (-145) were 20 minutes away from taking a commanding 3-0 series lead, but a third-period hiccup and overtime goal got the Panthers (+120) back in the series.

Still, Tampa has the home-ice advantage, and they should be able to push past the pesky Cats.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The Panthers +1.5 (-200) will cost you two times your potential return, and that’s risky business. Still, I think this is going to be a close game decided by one goal, something we’ve seen in two of the first three in the series. The juice is just too high to take Florida here.

AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 6 (-120) is the lean here. We have seen an explosion of offense in Games 1 and 3. However, we saw a rather defensive battle in Game 2, and we should see a tighter game in this one, too.

Florida Panthers at Tampa Bay Lightning Game 3 odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Thursday’s Tampa Bay Lightning at Florida Panthers Game 3 odds and lines, with hockey picks, tips and predictions.

The Tampa Bay Lightning host the Florida Panthers in Game 3 of their Stanley Cup Playoffs first-round series Thursday. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. ET at Amalie Arena in Tampa. Below, we analyze the Panthers-Lightning odds and lines, with NHL picks and predictions.

The Panthers are looking to find the win column for the first time in this series. They had home-ice advantage, but lost it in a seesaw battle in Game 1. After that 5-4 loss, they were dropped 3-1 in a better effort in Game 2.

The Lightning have won six of their past seven games as a favorite in the playoffs, and they’re 42-16 in the previous 58 games at home overall. It’s a tough spot for the Panthers, as they look to climb back into the series.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 7:20 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Panthers +120 (bet $100 to win $120) | Lightning -145 (bet $145 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Panthers +1.5 (-200) | Lightning -1.5 (+170)
  • Over/Under: 5.5 (O: -120 | U: +100)

Panthers at Lightning: Projected starting goalies

Sergei Bobrovsky (19-8-2, 2.91 GAA, .906 SV%) vs. Andrei Vasilevskiy (31-10-1, 2.21 GAA, .925 SV%, 5 SO)

Bobrovsky was bounced around for five goals on 40 shots in Game 1. The Panthers are paying him a lot of money, and they figure to lean upon him. However, if he struggles again, look for him to have a rather short leash.

Vasilevskiy has had no such issues in this series, especially in Game 2 when he turned aside 32 of 33 shots. He was 18-2-0 with a stellar 1.75 GAA and .936 SV% with three shutouts in 20 starts at home.

Panthers at Lightning: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Lightning 4, Panthers 2

Money line (ML)

The LIGHTNING (-145) are looking to take a commanding 3-0 series lead, and there is no reason to bet against them. Tampa Bay has Vasilevskiy in the pipes, and he has been untouchable in the crease at home. Florida looks a tad inexperienced and uneven, while the champs look like the champs.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The LIGHTNING -1.5 (+170) are worth a roll of the dice on the puck line at home – but go lightly. The Panthers +1.5 (-200) are sure to play with desperation, but in the end in the Lightning will prevail. A late empty-net goal is likely to be the difference.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 5.5 (-120) is the lean here. The Over/Under split in the first two games, but there is a lot of offensive firepower on both sides, and we should see an uptick in goals similar to Game 1.
