Here is your first look at the team’s Week 14 injury report.

The Panthers may or may not be getting their star running back Christian McCaffrey back this week when they face his hometown Broncos. McCaffrey was limited at practice today, as were two others.

Here is your first look at the team’s Week 14 injury report.

Coach Matt Rhule told the media after practice that McCaffrey tweaked his thigh during the bye and is unsure if he’ll play this week. He did sound positive that Jackson will return to the lineup, though.

In addition to these names, the following players did not practice as they are on the reserve/COVID-19 list: wide receivers Curtis Samuel and D.J. Moore, linebacker Shaq Thompson and defensive linemen Zach Kerr, Derrick Brown and Yetur Gross-Matos.

Panthers G Dennis Daley, CB Donte Jackson DNP for Thanksgiving practice

Here is the updated Week 12 injury report.

The Panthers appear to be getting a full week of practice from Teddy Bridgewater after he missed last week’s matchup with the Lions. He was not limited at practice for the second straight day.

Here is the updated Week 12 injury report.

Player Injury Wed Thu Fri Status
QB Teddy Bridgewater Knee Full Full

It appears cornerback Donte Jackson and offensive lineman Dennis Daley are on their way to sitting out this week. Jackson has a lingering toe injury and Daley suffered a concussion against Detroit.

While McCaffrey hasn’t been ruled out yet, all indications are that he won’t play again this week. Most likely, he’ll return to the lineup after the bye.

Happy Thanksgiving from everyone here at Panthers Wire.

Panthers Week 12 injury report: Bridgewater expected to play, McCaffrey not

After practice, coach Matt Rhule told the media that he expects Bridgewater to play Sunday against the Vikings.

The Panthers should be getting their starting QB back in the lineup this week against the Vikings. Their superstar running back will likely remain on the sidelines for now, though.

Here is your first look at the team’s Week 12 injury report.

After practice, coach Matt Rhule told the media that he expects Bridgewater to play Sunday against Minnesota. He’s not expecting McCaffrey to, though.

Bridgewater is recovering from a right knee injury that has been reported as a mild MCL sprain, but Rhule has said there’s more than one thing going on with the knee. He was close to starting against the Lions. However, Bridgewater was placed on the inactives list at the last minute.

Meanwhile, McCaffrey has an AC joint injury in his shoulder. Assuming he is ruled out, the Panthers will again look to Mike Davis at running back. He has filled in well for No. 22 this season, totaling 754 yards and five touchdowns from scrimmage.

Donte Jackson has had a lingering toe injury since Week 1 which has slowed him down. The team finally rested him last week. Rookies Troy Pride Jr. and Stantley Thomas-Oliver split his snaps.

Panthers list 7 players as questionable, 3 doubtful to play vs. Lions

Panthers list 7 players as questionable, 3 doubtful to play vs. Lions this weekend.

At this rate, the Carolina Panthers may need to ask some fans to come down out of the stands and suit up on Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Starting quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is listed as questionable, as are six other players. Three key starters are doubtful to play, as well.

Here is the complete Carolina Week 11 injury report.

We may not find out who will start at QB until 90 minutes before kickoff when the inactives list comes out. Our best guess is that Bridgewater’s limited partcipation this week is a smokescreen and we will be seeing either P.J. Walker or Will Grier under center. Grier is our gut feeling, though. Walker probably has an equal chance to start. However, the team invested a third-round pick in Grier and may want to see where he’s at in his development in a live game setting.

At left tackle, the Panthers have tried Dennis Daley, Greg Little and Trent Scott, who’s flashed the most recently. It will be interesting to see who replaces Okung this time and how long they stay on the field.

If Miller can’t go, coach Matt Rhule will likely look to either Daley or Michael Schofield at right guard.

At cornerback, rookie Troy Pride Jr. will start in place of Jackson, which will likely be a problem as he attempts to cover the likes of Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay outside. Pride has been the team’s most disappointing draft pick this year and Matt Stafford will probably test him more than Rasul Douglas, even if he’s not 100%. In any case, resting Jackson is the right decision and it’s also a month overdue.

Coach Matt Rhule told the media today that Bridgewater is “extremely limited” right now. Also, there’s apparently more than one thing wrong with his knee. However, if No. 5 can play, he will.

If Bridgewater can’t go against Detroit, Rhule says he will likely wait until Saturday or Sunday to name a starter between backups Will Grier and P.J. Walker.

Aside from those two, players who should see larger roles this week include rookie corner Troy Pride Jr., slated to start for Donte Jackson so he can finally rest and fully recover from his lingering toe injury. Mike Davis will also naturally take Christian McCaffrey’s place in the lineup. If right guard John Miller is ruled out, Michael Schofield or Dennis Daley could take his spot. As for left tackle, it’s anybody’s guess.

Panthers injury updates: DE Brian Burns limited on Thursday

Here is the updated Week 10 injury report.

The Panthers’ injury report is mostly unchanged from yesterday. There are a couple of new names on it, though. Defensive end Brian Burns (groin) was limited at practice and running back Mike Davis was listed as a full participant with a toe issue.

Christian McCaffrey is expected to be ruled out, but there’s a chance he can play next week against Detroit.

Panthers Week 10 injury report: 4 players out, 4 limited on Wednesday

The Carolina Panthers have been playing banged up most of the season. Why should Week 10 be any different?

The Carolina Panthers have been playing banged up most of the season. Why should Week 10 be any different? Star running back Christian McCaffrey and three other players did not participate in today’s practice, while four others were limited.

McCaffrey hasn’t officially been ruled out yet, but all signs point to that being the case this week. Coach Matt Rhule told reporters he has an AC joint issue and probably won’t play. He said that he considers McCaffrey week-to-week.

Russell Okung and Jeremy Chinn are the other critical names to watch.

While Okung has blocked at a high level when he’s been out there, the left tackle situation has been a revolving door all year due to his ongoing injury problems. Okung has now missed four of the team’s nine games. Greg Little, Trent Scott and Dennis Daley have all tried their hand and nobody has performed well consistently as of yet.

Chinn is of course the team’s most versatile and important defensive playmaker. He lines up all over the field and covers a ton of ground. The Panthers missed him sorely in Sunday’s loss to the Chiefs, especially when they were having trouble covering tight end Travis Kelce – who could not be contained and posted a game-high 159 receiving yards.

Panthers injury updates: Jeremy Chinn, 2 others questionable vs. Chiefs

Even though he was upgraded on Thursday, Chinn is one of three players who have been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

The big question for the Panthers this week is whether or not the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Month Jeremy Chinn will be able to play against the Chiefs. It sounds like we may have to wait until 90 minutes before kickoff to find out. Even though he was upgraded on Thursday, Chinn is one of three players who have been listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Here is the team’s complete Week 9 injury report.

If starter Russell Okung is ruled out again, the Panthers will likely rely on a rotation of Trent Scott and Greg Little at left tackle. Neither has proven consistent enough to lock down the job as of yet.

As for Zach Kerr, last week rookie Bravvion Roy started in his place next to Derrick Brown. That would likely continue if Kerr is unavailable.

Replacing Chinn is far more difficult, though. Defensive coordinator Phil Snow told reporters that it will be a committee approach if Chinn can’t play.

Panthers injury updates: Jeremy Chinn upgraded on Thursday

The Panthers need every bit of help they can get against the Chiefs this week.

The Panthers need every bit of help they can get against the Chiefs this week. That’s why Jeremy Chinn’s presence on the injury report is so concerning. Chinn sat out Wednesday’s practice, but he was upgraded to a limited participant today.

If Chinn can’t play, the Panthers will take a by-committee approach to replacing the multiple roles he fills defensively.

Starting left tackle Russell Okung remains a limited participant due to his calf injury. Carolina will also need him in the lineup to help contain Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark.
