Raiders, Panthers final Week 3 injury report: Maxx Crosby, Christian Wilkins both Questionable

Maxx Crosby, Christian Wilkins are both officially Questionable for Week 3 vs the Panthers

A couple of Raiders star defenders showed up on the injury report this week. The team’s biggest stars as it happens.

Both Maxx Crosby and Christian Wilkins were limited in practice all week. Crosby is dealing with an ankle injury while Wilkins has a knee injury. Both players are officially questionable for the game.

Antonio Pierce seemed very confident that Maxx Crosby will play in the game.

“He hasn’t missed any practice,” Pierce said of Crosby. “So, regardless of what I want to do, I’ve got to fight 98 and everything that he does. But the ultimate warrior. I mean, you see it with the stats this year, he hasn’t missed a snap, and I don’t expect him missing Sunday, either. I don’t expect him missing Sunday.”

Crosby’s play doesn’t usually suffer much from nagging injuries, though it’s certainly worth watching Sunday.

Tyree Wilson is also expected to play after missing last week with a sprained knee.

The status of Wilkins’s knee injury is less certain. He and Crosby have worked very well together on the line through two games, so it would be a big loss to not have Wilkins. Especially considering the lack of depth on the interior defensive line.

For sure not playing in this game is starting linebacker Divine Deablo. Luke Masterson will start in his place alongside Robert Spillane.

Raiders, Panthers Week 3 injury report: G Dylan Parham suffers foot injury

Raiders G Dylan Parham suffers foot injury

Thursday, the Raiders injury report just got longer. No one was removed from it, while a few names were added to it. Most notably starting guard Dylan Parham was limited Thursday by a foot injury.

Also added to the injury report were safety Chris Smith (knee) and DE Janarius Robinson. Though both were full participants. Rookie LB Tommy Eichenberg was upgraded to full as well.

Still missing from practice were LB Divine Deablo (oblique/concussion) and CB DeCamerion Richardson (hamstring).

The Ravens got several players back Thursday, including A’Shawn Robinson who missed Wednesday’s practice with a knee injury. The only player missing Thursday with injury was DT Shy Tuttle.

Raiders, Panthers Week 3 injury report: DE Tyree Wilson, G Jackson Powers-Johnson return to practice

DE Tyree Wilson, G Jackson Powers-Johnson return to practice for Raiders

It’s take three for Raiders rookie guard Jackson Powers-Johnson. The second round guard didn’t show up on the injury report for the first time this season. Giving the round two pick a shot to see his first game action this week.

Powers-Johnson missed the first two games with an unknown illness after missing all of camp and preseason with an undisclosed injury.

Also returning to practice for the Raiders was DE Tyree Wilson who suffered a sprained knee early in the season opener against the Chargers. Wilson was limited in practice, so it remains to be seen if his return to practice will mean he is ready to play Sunday when the Panthers come to town.

Missing from practice was Divine Deablo (oblique/concussion) and DeCamerion Richardson (hamstring). Several others were limited, which means their status will be something to monitor as the week goes on.

The Panthers had two players missing with injury Wednesday including DE A’Shawn Robinson (knee) and DT Sky Tuttle (foot).

Brian Burns sits out in Panthers’ 1st practice of Week 10

Take a look at the Panthers’ first injury report of the week.

The Carolina Panthers kicked off their week of practice Wednesday and released their first injury report. It was nothing like the Cardinals’ report of 17 players, but there are notable players listed.

Four players did not participate in Wednesday’s practice and another one was limited.

Coach Matt Rhule has already said he doesn’t expect McCaffrey to play against the Saints. Ordinarily that would mean another start for Davis, but Rhule says he’ll likely be out, as well. So, Trenton Cannon or Rodney Smith might wind up being RB1 this week. However, wide receiver Curtis Samuel was the team’s most effective rusher in Sunday’s win over Washington.

It was probably not a great idea to play Burns in Week 16 given how important he is for this franchise. After being listed as questionable right up until the laste minute, he played a relatively limited snap count and suffered a couple of shoulder stingers. It might be wise to sit him this last game and let Marquis Haynes go again.

If Okung is ruled out again (again) we may see Matt Kaskey get some time at left tackle given how much Michael Schofield struggled.

It certainly looks like all four of the DNPs are on their way to sitting out this week. Defensive coordinator Phil Snow told reporters today that Brian Burns won’t play. Also, coach Matt Rhule says Christian McCaffrey is dying to, but he’s just not ready yet.

As for their opponents, Washington has some uncertainty going on at quarterback. Alex Smith says he expects to play but Dwayne Haskins took first-team reps at practice today and looks on track to start Sunday.

Panthers Week 16 injury report: Brian Burns, Christian McCaffrey among DNPs

Both defensive end Brian Burns and running back Christian McCaffrey did not participate in today’s practice.

The Panthers may have to face their former coach Ron Rivera this week without the top two players on their roster. Both defensive end Brian Burns and running back Christian McCaffrey did not participate in today’s practice.

Assuming McCaffrey is once again unavailable, Mike Davis will continue to start at running back. If Burns has to sit out, the team may turn to Efe Obada to start opposite Yetur Gross-Matos.

As for Okung, Trent Scott is the only other left tackle remaining on the active roster. Both Greg Little and Dennis Daley have been placed on season-ending injured reserve.

At cornerback, seventh-round pick Stantley Thomas-Oliver is the best candidate to replace Pride, who is considered doubtful to play.

On the bright side, wide receiver D.J. Moore was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Rhule expects him to play.
