Dave Gettleman may be gone, but the Panthers still can’t seem to pass on defensive tackles in the first round. Even though Clemson star Isaiah Simmons still on the board, the team chose Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown with their No. 7 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft.
Brown is a disruptive prospect who gives Phil Snow a solid starter to pair next to Kawann Short. While his athletic testing raises questions, if nothing else, he should help turn around what was the worst run defense in the league last year.

Panthers fans should be happy about the Derrick Brown pick. He's the best player in the draft at his position and fills a position of need. He and KK immediately pair up to be a dynamic interior duo and if both are healthy should be able to get after the passer and stop the run.
