Panthers vs. Colts: 7 key matchups to watch in Week 16

The Panthers carry a six-game losing streak into this week’s contest against the Colts. On the bright side, Indianapolis isn’t playing much better. Losers of four straight and six of seven, these Colts might just represent the last realistic chance for Carolina to win a game in 2019.

The odds aren’t good, though. The Panthers are underdogs by more than a touchdown, according to BetMGM. In order to pull off an upset, they’ll need to win some key individual matchups. Here are seven to watch on Sunday.

Will Grier vs. Will Grier

A third-round draft pick, Grier will be under the microscope as he makes his first start against a Colts defense that has allowed just under 250 passing yards per game (No. 21 in the league) and ranks No. 18 in defensive DVOA. During the preseason, Grier committed too many turnovers and was the lowest-graded rookie QB by Pro Football Focus. He’ll have to take better care of the ball, especially getting it out faster than he did in August.
