Prediction

Raptors 121, Pacers 112

Moneyline (ML)

The Raptors (-228) entered the All-Star break off of a 101-91 loss to the Brooklyn Nets which snapped a franchise-record 15-game winning streak. They were able to rebound Friday, as they handed the visiting Phoenix Suns a 118-101 loss in their first game out of the break. The Pacers (+185) beat the New York Knicks 106-98 Friday for a second straight win. They had previously lost six in a row, including a home-and-home with the Raptors Feb. 5 and 7.

The Raptors now lead the season series 2-1 as the two teams wrap up their regular season set Sunday. Toronto enters the day second in the Eastern Conference and Indiana is sixth. A first-round playoff matchup could be in the future.

While the Raptors should win rather easily at home due to a significant depth advantage, especially if Oladipo sits, there just isn’t enough value in the chalky odds to warrant a wager. PASS and look to the spread.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Raps to win returns a profit of just $4.41.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Back the RAPTORS (-5.5, -110) to win by at least 6 points on home court. The season’s first head-to-head meeting went to overtime before the Pacers pulled out a 120-115 win and the Raps needed a final-possession 3-pointer to secure a 119-118 victory Feb. 5 before winning 115-106 two days later.

The Raps are 32-24 against the spread overall and 18-11 at home, while the Pacers are 30-25-1 ATS overall and 16-11 on the road.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the OVER 219.5 (-106) as the more profitable side of the total bet. All three head-to-head meetings thus far have topped Sunday’s projection. Both teams are 30-25-1 against the Over/Under for the season and 17 of 29 Raptors home games have gone Over the projected line.

Esten’s NBA betting record: 193-165

Prediction

Raptors 112, Pacers 108

Moneyline (ML)

The Pacers (+200) have been slipping of late despite having SG Victor Oladipo back in the lineup. They’re 6-4 across their last 10 games and enter Wednesday on a two-game slide with home losses against the Dallas Mavericks (112-103) and New York Knicks (92-85). The RAPTORS (-250) are laying a fair amount of chalk, but they’re a safe play on an 11-game winning streak. Their most recent conquest was by a 129-102 count over the Chicago Bulls Sunday.

Toronto also hosts the first half of this home-and-home where it is 18-7 for the season. Indiana is also 18-7 at home but just 13-12 on the road. The Pacers claimed a 120-115 overtime win Dec. 23 in the first head-to-head meeting of the season, but the Raptors were without All-Star starter PF Pascal Siakam, Gasol and Powell. They’re worth a play on the ML, but the spread will be more profitable.

Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The RAPTORS (-5.5, -115) should be backed to win by at least 6 points for a greater profit margin. The Pacers’ last two losses came by greater margins against inferior teams; nine of the Raptors’ last 11 wins were by margins of 6 or more points.

Toronto is 29-21 against the spread overall and 16-9 at home, while Indiana is 27-22-1 ATS overall and 14-11 on the road. The Pacers are just 4-7 ATS with the rest disadvantage and the Raps are 15-7 ATS as home favorites.

Over/Under (O/U)

Back the OVER 215.5 (-121). Both teams are 26-23-1 against the Over/Under for the season. The first meeting played to a combined total of 235 points, including the overtime session, and both sides were at less than full health. Toronto is 19-13-1 against the O/U in games against Eastern Conference opponents.

Esten’s NBA betting record: 179-146
