Pac-12 baseball standings for April 25

The #Pac12 baseball standings look different after #USC took 2 of 3 games from UCLA and won the weekend series vs the Bruins

If you missed it over the weekend, the USC baseball program did something very special. The Trojans won a home-field series against UCLA for the first time since 2005. That’s insane.

The point is not to emphasize how incredible it is that USC won a series from UCLA. That was surely impressive, but not extraordinary.

The crazy part is that it took 18 whole years for the Trojans to do it.

“The USC Trojans waited 18 long years for this moment, the moment when they could say they beat UCLA in a home-field baseball series. Has it been that long? Yes it has. It underscores how dark and difficult life has been for the USC baseball program. Now the clouds are beginning to part and the sunshine is flowing in,” we wrote on Monday.

Now the Pac-12 baseball standings look different. USC is in the top tier of the conference after huge wins on Saturday and Sunday.

Chancellor Phil DiStefano says Colorado remains ‘committed to the Pac-12’

Chancellor Phil DiStefano was asked about the Big 12 being a potential backup plan for Colorado

Will the Colorado Buffaloes end up leaving the Pac-12 Conference? With USC and UCLA headed out, questions remain about what the future of the conference looks like.

University of Colorado chancellor Phil DiStefano answered some questions regarding this with Brent Schrotenboer of USA TODAY Sports, and DiStefano once again pledged his allegiance to the Pac-12.

Without a new media deal in place for the Pac-12, rumors have swirled that Colorado might go back to its old league, the Big 12, for the sake of stability.

Is that a backup plan for Colorado?

“Nobody’s asked us – I shouldn’t even say that. We’re committed to the Pac-12,” he said. “What I’ve said along with the other presidents and chancellors is we’re not going to even think about going anywhere, none of us, until we see what kind of offer we get, and that’s still being worked out. And I’m confident it’s going to be fine.”

As of now, nothing is on the horizon.

Pac-12 baseball standings: April 17

#USC had a tough weekend, getting swept at Oregon State. See how the Pac-12 baseball standings have changed.

The Pac-12 baseball season has plenty of attention now that basketball and football are not in the focus.

The Stanford Cardinal were on top of the conference last week in the standings, and this week the Arizona State Sun Devils have edged the Cardinal for the top spot.

There have been quite a bit of changes from a week ago, and four teams are under the .500 mark in Pac-12 play, with three teams winning 10 or more games so far.

There is a lot of baseball left, so a lot can change, but here are the latest standings for the Pac-12 Conference on the diamond.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel gives update on timeline for Pac-12 media rights deal

The Pac-12 media rights deal may not be completed until late this spring or summer, according to the latest report

The Pac-12 Conference still has not landed a new media deal despite ongoing conversations and rumors. With UCLA and USC leaving after one more year in the Pac-12, it is important that they lock in a deal quickly and focus on which programs they will bring over next.

Now, it looks like a new media rights deal won’t be struck until late spring or even the summer, according to Pete Thamel of ESPN.

The timeline for the Pac-12’s upcoming television deal is coming into focus, and sources told ESPN on Thursday that no deal is expected for a few more months.

With Pac-12 CEOs set to meet next week, sources told ESPN to not expect a deal to be announced. The timeline for a Pac-12 television deal, according to sources, is sometime later this spring or this summer.

The current deal ends after the 2023-2024 season and the departures of USC and UCLA for the Big Ten aren’t helping with two major programs leaving. But, reports from the past few months signaled a deal would be completed soon.

San Diego State just helped its case with a stunning run to the national title game and a Final Four trip, but who knows which programs the Pac-12 is targeting for expansion.

For now, we continue to wait for a deal to get done.

USC could be part of new power structure in Pac-12 basketball

.@BuffaloesWire might have a top-15 team in Boulder. USC is rated above UCLA. This could be a new-look #Pac12 in 2024.

The college basketball season has ended, and the Pac-12 disappointed in March Madness again. Yes, Arizona State won after getting a First Four game, but USC lost in the first round, Arizona was stunned by Princeton in the first round, and UCLA did not make the Elite Eight despite high expectations.

The future of the Pac-12 is up in the air with USC and UCLA leaving in 2024, although San Diego State’s stunning run to the national title game should be a big factor if they want to get into the conference. However, the 2023-2024 basketball season looks pretty good, especially after ESPN’s way-too-early top 25 rankings had the Colorado Buffaloes and USC Trojans ahead of the UCLA Bruins.

Here’s what ESPN analyst Jeff Brozello wrote about Colorado:

“We are all the way in on the Buffs’ bandwagon. They would have been in the top 25 even before Sunday’s commitment from TCU transfer Eddie Lampkin Jr. KJ Simpson and Tristan da Silva, if both return, give Tad Boyle two All-Pac-12 players to lead the way, and he’s adding potential lottery pick Cody Williams, a top-10 recruit. There’s a slew of role players also heading back to Boulder.”

The Buffs landed at No. 13 and the Trojans at No. 16, but the biggest surprise is UCLA outside of the top 20 and listed at No. 25 with a slew of departures expect. The Arizona Wildcats are No. 8 in the rankings, but the Buffs being a big-time program would be a huge step in the right direction for the Pac-12, especially with the L.A. schools leaving soon.

Pac-12 athletic department ratings from conference analyst are on the mark

How would you evaluate the 12 #Pac12 athletic directors based on football and basketball performance?

With the college basketball season now over, it’s a good time to step back and evaluate the performance of each Pac-12 athletic director. Just how well have the various Pac-12 athletic departments managed their resources? It’s a topic which will elicit various opinions, if only because each athletic department is not operating with the same budget, the same amount of resources, the same level of publicity, and the same degree of leverage within the Pac-12.

When combining football with men’s and women’s basketball, just how well are athletic departments doing in the Pac-12? Oregon State was amazing in football, not so much in hoops. UCLA was great in men’s basketball, good in women’s hoops and football. Oregon and Washington were strong in football, not that strong in basketball. How should one assess performance? Jon Wilner of the Wilner Hotline has his rankings and his explanations of said rankings. It’s worth a read, just like anything else Wilner produces.

Pac-12 expansion: March Madness run helping San Diego State’s case

The Aztecs’ March Madness run makes San Diego State an even more intriguing school for the Pac-12 to consider

Pac-12 expansion has been a popular discussion for the past year. With USC and UCLA beginning their final year in the conference before moving to the Big Ten, more changes are likely coming.

As the college basketball season wraps up, the Pac-12 should seriously consider adding the San Diego State Aztecs, and there are plenty of reasons why.

Yes, the Aztecs men’s basketball team caught everybody’s attention with a thrilling run to the Final Four and the national championship, but there’s more to it than that.

The location is perfect for the Pac-12, and the Southern California market is blossoming with opportunities for the conference once UCLA and USC leave.

The community backs SDSU a ton. Just watch the reaction from the fans at the Padres game when Lamont Butler hit the game-winner over Florida Atlantic:

SDSU’s football program is on the rise as well and just opened a brand new stadium in 2022.

On the basketball court, the Pac-12 struggled in the NCAA Tournament except for UCLA, and Arizona’s loss to Princeton was a shocker. But, the Aztecs aren’t exactly a Cinderella story. Rather, this is a program that has a history of sustained winning in the Mountain West.

After all is said and done, it would be surprising to see the Pac-12 not offer San Diego State a spot in the conference.

Important questions for each Pac-12 football team, per 247Sports

Each Pac-12 team enters spring camp with a few questions that need addressing

The Pac-12 has a ton of football teams that can make a run at the conference title next season in what will be the last year before USC and UCLA go to the Big Ten.

The Colorado Buffaloes made the biggest splash of the offseason by bringing in Deion Sanders and a ton of talent. On the other hand, Cam Rising is back in Utah, Bo Nix returned to Oregon and Michael Penix Jr. is at Washington again.

Oh, and Heisman Trophy winner Caleb Williams is back with a talented USC team.

Here are a few burning questions for each Pac-12 team, according to Chris Hummer of 247 Sports:

Pac-12 Men’s Basketball Tournament: Day 1 Results

Day 1 of the #Pac12 Tournament is over. Here are the results plus the schedule for Day 2, which features four quarterfinals.

The first day of the Pac-12 Tournament came to an end right before midnight Pacific time. Thursday’s quarterfinal slate features a number of meaningful games for teams on the bubble.

The top-seed UCLA Bruins lost Jaylen Clark for the rest of the season in a crucial blow, and there’s a chance the Pac-12 sees just three teams in the Field of 68, although the next few days will decide that.

With Day 1 officially over, here are the results for the first round, followed by the schedule for Day 2 in Las Vegas. The first quarterfinal game tips off at noon Pacific between UCLA and Colorado. The final game takes place near 8:30 between USC and Arizona State.

Pac-12 men’s basketball standings: end of regular season

Here are the final regular-season men’s basketball standings for the #Pac12 Conference. The Pac-12 tourney starts Wednesday.

The Pac-12 Conference regular season has officially come to a close. The best time of the year is here: March Madness.

This week will be full of conference tournaments in college basketball, and the Pac-12 is looking like a three-bid league after a rather disappointing ending for a few bubble teams.

The USC Trojans survived a close call against Arizona State on Saturday night to finish out the regular season, and UCLA and Arizona remain at 1-2 respectively entering Las Vegas.

Here are the final standings at the end of the Pac-12 regular season.
