High School Football Rewind: Watch this Virginia team’s goal line stand turned into a pick-six

Watch: The Oscar Smith high school team’s defense scores a 100-yard touchdown vs. Great Bridge.

Nothing gets a defense fired up quite like a goal-line stand. This one by Oscar Smith (Va.) this past weekend is on a different level, though.

Not only did the defense stop what looked like a touchdown for their opponents, but they created a turnover…and took it all the way to the other end for six points.

Watch the Tigers stop Great Bridge (Va.) in the end zone and then run it back 100 yards for a touchdown.

Oscar Smith won the game 47-6. They are now 5-0 this season. Next up, they visit 6-0 King’s Fork (Va.) on Friday night.

Mel Tucker and his staff reiterated today to the Lansing State Journal that they are committed to recruiting at a high level every single day, and they have certainly shown that during this spring. The team has seemingly sent out multiple offers a day to some of the top players in multiple recruiting classes. The latest offer came in on Thursday, when 2022 3-star cornerback Sherrod Covil Jr. announced that he has received an offer to Michigan State.

Covil currently plays for Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia, and is the No. 17 ranked player in Virginia according to the 247sports rankings.

Covil is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound safety who is ranked No. 24 at his position. He currently only has offers from Georgia Tech and Virginia Tech so the Spartans are getting an early offer in for the 2022 defensive back.
