Bulls at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Magic 118, Bulls 114

Money line (ML)

The MAGIC (-105) are the play as short ‘dogs after topping the Bulls (-115) in the front end of the double dip Friday. Orlando entered Friday’s game on a four-game skid, but they suddenly look attractive after tripping up Chicago in the opener.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The MAGIC +1.5 (-115) won as an underdog on Friday, and the Bulls -1.5 (-105) slipped to 2-6 ATS in the past eight as a favorite, including 1-5 ATS in the past six as a favorite on the road. Neither of these teams have been very consistent lately, so you have to go with what you saw lately, and that’s an Orlando win.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 223.5 (-110) is the play for Saturday’s second end of the twin bill. We had a total of 242 points in Friday’s game, and we should see a slight decrease in scoring with both teams experiencing some tired legs after playing less than 24 hours prior. However, this won’t be confused with a defensive slog. The scoring will pick up in the second half, and we’ll still see the Over cash with about two minutes remaining in regulation.

Bulls at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bulls 111, Magic 103

Money line (ML)

The BULLS (-130) aren’t a bad play on the money line, although my preference would be to play the spread for less risk. The Bulls have won just once in the past five outings, but they have won two straight on the road. And the Magic (+105) are just too banged up to rely upon.

Against the spread (ATS)

The BULLS -2.5 (-110) are coming off a disappointing 107-103 loss on their home hardwood against the Knicks. Still, they’re a good play in O-Town, as the Magic +2.5 (-110) are a dismal 0-4 SU/ATS across the past four overall, with three of those games at home. Chicago is 6-1 ATS across the past seven on the road, while going 10-2 ATS in their past 12 playing on a day of rest.

Orlando is 1-5 ATS in the past six at home, and 5-19-2 ATS in the previous 26 as a home ‘dog.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 222.5 (-110) is the best play on the board here. The Under has cashed in four of the past five for Chicago, while hitting in 21 of the past 28 for the Bulls against losing sides. The Under has also hit in seven of the past 10 at home for Orlando. In addition, the Under is 19-7 in the past 26 meetings in Orlando between these two sides, while hitting in 20 of the past 26 overall.

Previewing Tuesday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic NBA odds and lines, with basketball betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Toronto Raptors (8-12) and Orlando Magic (8-13) have flipped locations and will play for the second time in three days, this time at Amway Center in Orlando. The Raptors earned a 115-102 victory in Tampa, Fla., Sunday. Tuesday’s tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Raptors-Magic NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Raptors at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 120, Magic 108

Money line (ML)

The Raptors (-250) should make it two straight wins against the injury-ravaged Magic with a win Tuesday, but we can’t justify the chalky price for a team that has won two or more games in a row just twice this season. There’s also just no reason to chase the upset by a Magic squad with three straight L’s, all by 10-plus points.

PASS on the money line in favor of the more profitable spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

The RAPTORS -6.5 (-110) easily disposed of the Magic Sunday and should again while making the short trip to Orlando for the second half of the home-and-home set.

Toronto shot just 30.8% from 3-point range in the 13-point win, so there’s plenty of room for improvement if the Raps get back to their season average.

The Raptors won the rebound battle with C Aron Baynes grabbing 16 boards. PF Pascal Siakam had a game-high 30 points in one of his best outings of the 2020-21 season.

The Toronto bigs will have an easier time Tuesday with Gordon now on the sidelines, as well. The Raps bench had one of its best games of the season and should continue to have an edge against the short-handed Magic.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 214.5 (-110) and expect some better 3-point shooting from Toronto. Sunday’s game squeaked past a projected total of 216 points by a single point.

Progression toward a season average of 37.5% shooting from beyond the arc for the Raptors should allow the Over to connect with relative ease Tuesday.

The Toronto Raptors (7-12) host the Orlando Magic (8-12) Sunday for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. The Raptors have lost three in a row while the Magic dropped each of their past two. Below, we analyze the Magic-Raptors NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Magic at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Raptors 114, Magic 106

Money line (ML)

The RAPTORS (-225) will snap their three-game losing skid and add to the troubles of the injury-ravaged Magic. Orlando has lost 10 of its last 12 games coming into this two-game set against Toronto. The Raptors won each of the last eight games in this head-to-head series going back to the 2018-19 postseason.

There are few things Orlando is doing well on offense. The Magic are last in the NBA in effective field-goal percentage, and they’re 28th in offensive rating.

Orlando is seventh in the Association with 13.8 turnovers committed per game, but the Raptors are second with 17.1 turnovers forced per game. The Magic have a big advantage on the glass, especially at the offensive end, but those extra looks haven’t turned into points.

Against the spread (ATS)

Take the RAPTORS -5.5 (-110) to win by at least 5 points. Just two of the Magic’s last eight losses were played within a 5-point margin. Toronto’s strength this season has been the play of guards Kyle LowryFred VanVleet and Norman Powell. The backcourt is where Orlando is most hurt by injuries and the Raptors have the personnel to exploit the weakness.

Over/Under (O/U)

Bet the OVER 216.5 (-110). Both teams allow more than 110 points per game. Orlando ranks 22nd in pace (possessions per game), but it still ranks fifth in field-goal attempts per game. Toronto attempts a league-high 42.6 3-pointers per game and Orlando is just 15th in opponent’s 3-point percentage while allowing opponents to hit at a 36.7% clip from beyond the arc.

Clippers at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 108, Magic 103

Money line (ML)

CLIPPERS (+135) are slight underdogs in this game despite beating the Miami Heat 109-105 without Leonard and George Thursday. Both All-Stars will be out again, but the Magic will be missing several key starters, as well.

Orlando has lost nine of its last 11 games with the only wins coming against the Charlotte Hornets and Minnesota Timberwolves. Expect this game to be close, but for the Clippers to find a way to win as they are the better coached and more defensively sound team.

Against the spread (ATS)

If the money line is too risky of a bet, consider taking the CLIPPERS +3.5 (-110) as two-basket underdogs.

Los Angeles has been great against the spread of late, covering in five of its last seven games. Meanwhile, Orlando is just 3-7 ATS in its last eight games and doesn’t perform well as a favorite. Take the value of the Clippers and the points in this game.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 214.5 (-105) is the right play here as both of these offenses have been struggling. For the Clippers, their lack of offensive success is easy to explain as Leonard and George have missed the last few games. For the Magic, they’ve been depleted by injuries all season long. They are currently the third-worst offense in the NBA and could struggle to get over 100 points in this game.

Take the Under and expect some sloppy offense in this game.

Kings at Magic: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Magic 110, Kings 105

Money line (ML)

Neither team is playing particularly well right now, with the Magic going 2-8 in their last 10 and the Kings 3-7. Orlando has found somewhat of a rhythm offensively lately, scoring at least 104 points in each of its last three outings.

Both teams won their last game by 9 points, with the Kings beating the New York Knicks 103-94 and Orlando knocking off the Charlotte Hornets 117-108 but it’ll be the MAGIC (-120) getting this win at home where they are 4-4 straight up.

Against the spread (ATS)

The Magic are favored by 1.5 points over the Kings and although they’re just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games, the Kings are just 2-8. The Magic must find ways to score because currently, they’re just 28th in the NBA in points per game and 29th in field-goal percentage.

They’ll build off their recent win over Charlotte Monday and begin a two-game winning streak. Take the MAGIC -1.5 (-110) to win by at least 2 points.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Magic score an average of 105.5 points per game, while the Kings average 112.4. It’ll come close to the total tonight but ultimately, they won’t hit 222.5. The total has gone Over in seven of Sacramento’s last 10 games, but just four of the last 10 for Orlando.

Take the UNDER 222.5 (-110) tonight.

Hornets at Magic: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hornets 103, Magic 99

Money line (ML)

The HORNETS (-120) and the Magic (+100) run it back just 24 hours after Sunday’s 107-104 by Charlotte. Orlando is skidding hard, losing eight of their past nine games. As such, the Hornets are the play on the money line as they look for the two-game sweep in O-Town.

Against the spread (ATS)

The HORNETS -1.5 (-110) are worth a light play, although I like them better on the money line for a slightly higher price, not having to worry about the points. Orlando is just 2-7 ATS across the past nine, however, and Charlotte is 7-2 ATS during the same span.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 213.5 (-110) is the play in nearly any second end of a back-to-back set. We’ll have plenty of tired legs as the team’s should be quite a bit sluggish, at least to start. The Under is also 6-0 in Orlando’s past six games at home, too, and 10-2 in Charlotte’s past 12 following a straight-up win, so there’s that.

Charlotte Hornets at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Charlotte Hornets at Orlando Magic NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Charlotte Hornets (6-9) clash with the Orlando Magic (7-9) Sunday in the Amway Center at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Hornets-Magic NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Charlotte got routed by the Chicago Bulls 123-110 Friday as 3-point home favorites to lose its fourth consecutive game. The Hornets were out of sync in their first game in six days vs. the Bulls partly because their scheduled game with the Washington Wizards on Jan. 20 was postponed due to COVID-19 issues.

Chicago out-scored Charlotte in each quarter by moving the ball well (33-22 edge in assists for the Bulls) and generating quality looks, shooting 51.6% from the field vs. the Hornets.

The Magic wrapped up a five-game road swing with a 120-118 overtime loss to the Indiana Pacers but covered as 4-point underdogs. Orlando was 1-4 on the road trip (2-3 against the spread) and has lost seven of its last eight games (2-6 ATS).

It has been rough sledding for the Magic who are without a couple of starters with season-ending injuries already (PG Markelle Fultz and PF Jonathan Isaac).

Orlando won and covered both games against Charlotte last season and has beaten the Hornets in four straight (4-0 ATS).

Hornets at Magic: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Magic 107, Hornets 103

Money line (ML)

The biggest factor in this game and in the Hornets-Magic recent history has been Orlando’s advantage on the glass. The Magic have out-rebounded the Hornets in each of their four meetings—all Orlando wins—and the Magic are seventh offensive rebounding rate and third in defensive rebounding rate while Charlotte is dead last in defensive rebounding rate and is a net negative in rebounds per game.

Also, the return of SG Evan Fournier is major for the Magic. Fournier missed seven games with a back injury but returned to score 24 points in the Magic’s 97-96 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves and a season-high 26 points in the Magic’s 120-118 loss to the Indiana Pacers this week.

Fournier is fourth on the Magic in on-off court net rating and he torched the Hornets last season, averaging 21.5 points on 60.7% field-goal shooting (64.3% from behind the arc) in their two meetings.

Furthermore, inserting him back into the rotation allows Orlando wing Terrence Ross to play the more optimal role of microwaved offense off the bench. Charlotte has struggled when going to its bench, which ranks 24th in points per game.

GIMME MAGIC (-120) for 1 unit.

Against the spread (ATS)

PASS ON THE SPREAD.

Over/Under (O/U)

It’s a lean on UNDER 214.5 (-110) for a quarter-unit for me since both teams are bottom-10 in offensive rating and below-average in pace of play. Lastly, the sharp side of the market is betting the Under while the average joe is betting the Over, according to Pregame.com’s market analysis.

Magic at Pacers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 115, Magic 109

Money line (ML)

The PACERS (-165) are worth a small-unit play if you don’t want to lay the points. Indiana is on a two-game slide, including 0-2 SU/ATS in their past two at home. But they’re a better team than the Magic (+140) overall, and they’ll snap their skid in this one.

Against the spread (ATS)

The PACERS -3.5 (-110) can be trusted, even though they enter 2-4 SU/ATS across the past six. The Magic +3.5 (-110) are a bit dinged up, and they’re even worse against the number lately, entering on a 1-6 ATS slide across the past seven. Traditionally the Magic have had difficulties against the Pacers, especially against the spread, going 6-16 ATS in the previous 22 meetings overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 217.5 (-110) is the best play on the board, cashing in each of the past five meetings overall in this series, and seven straight battles at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The Over is also 5-0 in Orlando’s past five against teams with a winning overall record, and 5-0 in Indiana’s past five against losing sides.

Magic at Knicks: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Knicks 103, Magic 99

Money line (ML)

The KNICKS (+100) are a nice play on Martin Luther King Day opener in at even money. New York upset the Boston Celtics 105-75 Sunday. The Magic lost at the Brooklyn Nets 122-115 Saturday.

Look to the home side to win in a defensive battle Monday.

Against the spread (ATS)

The KNICKS +1.5 (-110) are the way to go, although they’re a little more expensive and you’re not really getting that much insurance going with the point and a half. It’s better to just bet the money line in this instance.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 206.5 (-110) is worth a look, even though in this day and age it is an extremely low total. However, New York’s defense is nasty. Just ask the Celtics, who only were able to muster a pre-shot clock era-like 75 points Sunday against the Knicks. New York ranks second in the NBA with just 104.1 PPG allowed, and it’s first in defensive 3-pointer percentage at 31.2%, and fourth in opponent field-goal percentage at just 44.0%. New York is very deliberate on offense, going for just 101.3 PPG to rank 29th.
