Orlando Magic at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Orlando Magic at Memphis Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (16-48) visit FedExForum Saturday to take on the Memphis Grizzlies (43-21). Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Grizzlies odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Grizzlies are the best covering team in the league at 42-22 ATS. Despite a 120-107 road loss to the Boston Celtics Thursday in their last outing, the Grizzlies have been playing well lately and have covered seven of their last 10 games.

Memphis has also gone over the projected total in seven of those 10 outings. The Grizzlies rank third in points per game (113.8).

Orlando has struggled offensively this season and ranks 28th in true shooting percentage (53.8).

The Magic are just 29-35 ATS and have an Eastern Conference-low 16 wins. Orlando is coming off a 103-97 road win over the Toronto Raptors as a 7.5-point underdog. It has covered four of its last six games.

Magic at Grizzlies odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 118, Magic 100

Money line

PASS.

Memphis should win. It is 21-10 straight up at home and playing the worst team in the Eastern Conference, there’s no value in betting the Grizzlies (-2000) to win outright.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the GRIZZLIES -15.5 (-120).

I don’t typically advise betting an NBA spread this large, but the Grizzlies have been profitable at covering double-digit spreads this season. They’re 4-1 on the season when spotted 10 or more.

They won by 20 or more points in each of the four covers, with two wins coming by well over 30 points. Memphis is 14-10 ATS as a home favorite.

The Magic will be without a key big man in Carter Jr., who averages the third-most minutes and points per game for then. Orlando is just 9-13 ATS against Western Conference teams this season.

Over/Under

BET on the UNDER 229.5 (-115).

I do not see the Magic, a team averaging just 104 points per game, 28th in the league, to have enough firepower to help cover this total. They are just 4-6 O/U in their last 10 games.

Memphis is just 11-12-1 O/U as a home favorite yet is 34-29-1 O/U on the season, so covering the total against weaker teams at home has been difficult for them this season.

Orlando also isn’t that bad on the defensive glass, ranking 15th in defensive rebounding rate which will be important against Memphis’ No. 1 ranked offensive rebounding.

Limiting those second chances will be important, and with Carter Jr. out, veteran 7-foot C Robin Lopez may get more run which should only bode well for their ability to own the paint.

Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Indiana Pacers (21-41) visit Amway Center Monday to take on the Orlando Magic (14-47). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Pacers vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Pacers pushed their home record to 15-18 with an impressive 128-107 win over the Boston Celtics Sunday. On the road is a different story as they’re just 6-23 with an against the spread (ATS) record of 13-15-1.

The Pacers are led by G Tyrese Haliburton. They sit 13th in the Eastern Conference.

The Magic are 15th in the East and hold the NBA’s worst record at 14-47. They’re just 6-21 at home. Orlando is 4-6 ATS over its last 10 games and is coming off a 119-111 win over the Houston Rockets as a 3.5-point home favorite Friday.

The Magic are led by G Cole Anthony and C Wendell Carter Jr. Former No. 1 overall pick G Markelle Fultz is expected to make his season debut Monday.

Pacers at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 118, Magic 115

Money line

BET on the PACERS (+100).

The Pacers are actually entering this matchup with as many road wins as Orlando has home wins. Orlando rarely defends home court so Indiana is a good play despite its poor road record.

Indiana has also played far better as of late and has covered the spread in three of its last four games.

The trio of G Malcolm Brogdon, G Buddy Hield and Haliburton combined for 63 points against the Celtics, a team that sits second in the league in defensive rating. They should be able to find success against a weaker defensive team.

Orlando is 2-3 ATS since the trade deadline and is just 2-6 straight up over its last eight games, only defeating the Portland Trail Blazers and Houston Rockets. The Pacers are playing better basketball and have the more talented team.

I’d bet that they came out on top in this one.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

PASS.

I’d prefer to play the money line here. The Pacers’ last matchup with Orlando was a 1-point home loss and their season-opening match against the Charlotte Hornets was their only other 1-point game.

Considering the rarity (twice in 62 games), I’d prefer the better odds on the money line.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 232.5 (-110).

If there’s one thing that neither team can do well, it’s defend.

The Pacers rank 27th in defensive rating and the Magic rank 24th. Orlando has given up over 110 points per game in five straight matchups and allowed over 120 in three of its last four outings.

Orlando is 32-28-1 O/U while Indiana is 34-27-1 O/U on the year. The Pacers are 8-2 O/U over their last 10 and have scored 125 or more points in consecutive games.

This has all the makings of a high-scoring battle.

Houston Rockets at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Friday’s Houston Rockets at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Houston Rockets (15-43) and Orlando Magic (13-47) begin the second half of their seasons Friday night. Tip-off is 7 p.m. ET at Amway Center. Below, we look at the Rockets vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Rockets, in last place in the Western Conference, lost their final seven games and 11 of their final 12 before the All-Star Break. At 7-25, only two teams in the league have a worse record on the road.

The Magic, in last place in the Eastern Conference, lost four straight games and six of seven games before the break. They have the league’s worst home record at 5-21.

Rockets at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Rockets 118, Magic 114

Money line

The Rockets won the first matchup between the two teams in Houston 118-116 Dec. 3. They have lost six straight road games. They are 8-15 against the Eastern Conference this season.

The Magic have five of their 13 wins this season in their last 13 games but have not won a game at home since Jan. 30, but have only had three home games since then.

Neither team is a reliable play, so I look for the potential value here, leaning ROCKETS (+145).

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

The Rockets, while they are 23-34-1 ATS on the season, they are 15-16-1 on the road. They have covered the spread in only two of their last 10 games.

The Magic are, in contrast, only 7-19 ATS at home this season, compared to 26-34 ATS overall. They have covered the spread four times in their last 10 contests. This is only the third game all season the Magic have been favored in a game. They are 1-1 ATS in the previous two games.

The matter play is to go with the ROCKETS +4.5 (-112).

Over/Under

This will be an interesting pick because the Rockets allowed the most points in the league, but the Magic score the fewest.

In their first matchup this season, they combined for 234 points.

The Rockets’ final four games before the break, and the Magic’s final three, all finished with totals higher than tonight’s projection.

Take OVER 228.5 (-107).

Orlando Magic at Denver Nuggets odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Orlando Magic at Denver Nuggets odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (13-45) visit Pepsi Center Monday to take on the Denver Nuggets (31-25). Tip-off is scheduled for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Nuggets odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Nuggets return home after a 110-109 win over the Raptors Saturday in Toronto as 5.5-point underdogs.

Denver has covered 4 straight and is 7-2-1 against the spread (ATS) over their last 10 games. Led by C Nikola Jokic, the Nuggets are 25-30-1 ATS overall but just 11-14 ATS as the home team.

As for Orlando, it has covered just 4 of its last 10. The Magic are playing their fourth straight road game. They failed to cover most recently against the Suns in a 132-105 loss as 16.5-point underdogs.

This will be Orlando’s 3rd game in 4 days. The Magic are 25-33 ATS, including 18-15 ATS on the road.

Magic at Nuggets odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 120, Magic 106

Money line

PASS.

The Magic have the second-worst record in the NBA, but even in a matchup like this, betting the Nuggets at -850 has no value and shouldn’t be considered.

Against the spread

BET NUGGETS -11.5 (-107). They are simply playing better basketball right now.

The Magic should be exhausted on the last leg of a 4-game road trip. The Nuggets shoot the 3rd-best percentage from the field, whereas the Magic rank 18th in opponents’ shooting.

Orlando’s real struggles come offensively, where it averages the 28th-most points per game and ranks within the bottom five teams in turnover rate and true-shooting rate, which factors in 3-point shooting.

The Magic are just 7-13 ATS in non-conference games as well. Their struggles offensively, on the road and against the Western Conference make the Nuggets the better way to play this game.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 224.5 (-112).

The Nuggets are 29-26-1 O/U, while the Magic are 30-27-1.

Considering Orlando’s struggles to score, I wouldn’t wager a full unit, but their defense has been atrocious lately, allowing 114 points or more points in 6 of their last 7.

Orlando has missed 100 in 3 of its last 4 though, failing to top the Over in each. Each of Denver’s last 10 opponents have hit triple digits, and the Nuggets allow 107.6 points per game.

Denver is 14-10-1 O/U at home.

The Magic opened their road trip with a 113-95 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers Tuesday. Five of their 13 wins have come in their last nine games. Orlando has a modest two-game win streak on the road.

The Jazz last played Wednesday when they picked up their fourth straight win with a 111-85 beatdown of the Golden State Warriors. They are 4-0 so far during their six-game homestand and are the fourth place in the Western Conference.

Magic at Jazz odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 114, Magic 103

Money line

PASS on the money line.

The Magic are 8-23 on the road this season while the Jazz are 19-10 at home. Projecting a Magic win would be just a shot in the dark. Meanwhile, it is not worth wagering 12 times your potential return on this regular-season game.

Against the spread

The two teams are vastly different in terms of wins and losses but are very similar in their performance against the spread this season.

The Magic are 25-31 ATS overall this season. Utah is 24-29-2 ATS.

Orlando has covered the spread in five of their last nine games, although they have not covered the spread in any of their last five losses.

The Jazz have covered the spread in their last three games but are 3-2 ATS in their last five victories.

Utah struggles to cover the spread at home with an 11-17 ATS record, while the Magic are 18-13 ATS on the road despite winning just eight road games all season.

Take the MAGIC +13.5 (-112).

Over/Under

The Magic are one of the league’s lowest-scoring teams with 103.1 points per contest (28th). However, they have scored 110 points or more in six of their last seven games and 115 or more four times.

They face a Jazz squad that has allowed an average of 98.8 points per game in their four-game win streak and haven’t allowed more than 104 points in that span.

Take UNDER 221.5 (-108).

Memphis Grizzlies at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Memphis Grizzlies at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Memphis Grizzlies (36-18) travel to Amway Center Saturday to take on the Orlando Magic (12-41). Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Grizzlies vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Grizzlies are one of the best road teams in the league at 17-9. They’ve also been playing at a high level lately, 6-4 against the spread (ATS). At 35-19 ATS, Memphis is the second-best covering team in the Association.

They’re also 6-4 straight up over their last 10, only losing and failing to cover against playoff-bound opponents. Memphis is the best offensive rebounding team in the NBA behind big man C Steven Adams.

The Magic are just 5-18 at home but have been playing much better lately, winning 3 of their last 4. Orlando is a league-worst 6-15 ATS as home underdogs, though. The Magic are 24-29 ATS on the season.

Grizzlies at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 117, Magic 108

Money line

PASS on the money line. On the road, potentially without Morant or with him potentially not 100%, I’d pass on playing Memphis at -320. Their side has been falling in real-time, though. Morant could be a real question mark.

The Magic have also won 4 of their last 6. Nonetheless, the Grizzlies are far better and deeper, so banking on an upset isn’t quite the +250 value.

Against the spread

BET on the GRIZZLIES -7.5 (-102).

The Magic don’t cover at home against good teams. While they have played well lately, 2 of their last 3 victories have been against Indiana and Detroit, two bottom-tier Eastern Conference opponents.

Memphis is a league-best 5-2 ATS as road favorites as well. The Magic rank 14th in defensive rebounding rate, so their mid-tier rebounding may struggle to keep Memphis off the offensive glass.

Lastly, Memphis is 5-0 ATS over its last 10 when favored by 4 or more points.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 223.5 (-115).

Both teams have been more prone to covering the Over this season. The Magic are 28-24-1 O/U this season while the Grizzlies are 27-26-1 O/U.

Memphis is 5-2 O/U as road favorites while Orlando is 11-10 O/U as home underdogs. Orlando has hit 4 straight Overs and have topped 110 points in 4 straight games.

Orlando Magic at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Indiana Pacers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (11-41) visit Gainbridge Fieldhouse Wednesday to take on the Indiana Pacers (19-33). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Pacers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

This will be the Pacers’ 4th game in 6 days. Having disappointed to this point in the season, the Pacers are coming off a 122-116 home win Monday against the Clippers, covering the spread as 6-point underdogs.

The Pacers are 5-4-1 against the spread (ATS) over their past 10 and are 25-24-3 ATS on the season. They’ll be without several key starters, including leading scorer, PF Domantas Sabonis (19.1 points, 12.1 rebounds, 5.0 assists per game).

As for the Magic, they’ll be road underdogs, a position they’ve been many times this season. They are 4-6 ATS over its last 10, coming off an 126-115 road loss at Chicago.

Orlando is 16-13 ATS as a road underdog despite just a 6-23 straight-up road record.

Magic at Pacers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 118, Magic 110

Money line

PASS.

The Pacers’ -170 price is too expensive despite their 13-13 home record (compared to 6-20 on the road). Banking on the upset with the Magic’s poor 6-23 road record isn’t wise either.

Against the spread

BET PACERS -3.5 (-115).

Indiana has been far better at home this season, and while many of its key players will be sidelined, standout rookie SG Chris Duarte and experienced scorer SG Caris LeVert are expected to start.

The Pacers have been on fire offensively, scoring over 110 in 4 of their last 5 games. That will bode well taking on one of the worst defenses in the NBA.

Orlando allows 110.7 points per game (PPG). This will be Orlando’s second night of a back-to-back, a scenario it is just 4-6 ATS. The Magic are 5-7 ATS with a rest disadvantage.

The Pacers’ strength at home, 14-11-1 ATS this season, makes this the best play of the game.

Over/Under

LEAN to the OVER 226.5 (-115).

Considering Orlando’s 102.8 PPG ranks 28th in the league, I’m hesitant to fully give it out as a strong play, but the Magic have scored 110 or more in 3 straight and in 4 of their last 5.

Their offense is starting to click. Rookie SF Franz Wagner is averaging 20.6 PPG over his last 5 games, shooting 59.4% from the field.

As for the Pacers, their offense has been dynamic even without Sabonis, and their defense hasn’t been the same without Turner, ranking 22nd in opponents’ PPG (110.8).

The Magic are 27-24-1 O/U this season. The Pacers are 26-25-1 O/U, so both teams are over .500 on the Over.

Orlando Magic at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Tuesday’s Orlando Magic at Chicago Bulls odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (11-40) bring their league-worst record into Tuesday’s road contest against the Chicago Bulls (31-18), trying to win their 12th game of the season and actually their third straight. Tip-off from United Center is at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Magic vs. Bulls odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic are 3-1 in their last four games, beating the Bulls, Pistons and Mavericks in the last 10 days. Their loss in that stretch came to the Clippers, who claimed a 111-102 victory in Orlando. The Magic rank 28th in scoring (102.5 points per game) and 28th in field-goal percentage (43.2%), shooting an unimpressive 32.7% from 3-point range. PG Cole Anthony leads the team in scoring with 17.8 PPG, while C Wendell Carter Jr. is averaging a double-double (13.3 PPG, 10.1 RPG).

The Bulls are coming off a 130-116 win over the Trail Blazers Sunday, tying their fifth-most points scored in a game this season. Like the Magic, the Bulls are also 3-1 in their last four games, beating the Raptors and Thunder in addition to the Blazers, but losing to the Spurs 131-122 Friday. The Bulls are led by SF DeMar DeRozan, who’s averaging 26.4 PPG. SG Zach LaVine is putting up 24.9 PPG and sinks 2.9 3-pointers per game.

Magic at Bulls odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 117, Magic 107

Money line

PASS.

The Magic have won their last two games, but it might be time to sell high on them against a solid, but injured Bulls team. Chicago should win this game at home despite their recent rash of injuries as it shoots for a fourth win in the last five games.

I’m not going to lay a bet on the money line, though, because -410 is too rich to warrant a wager.

Against the spread

BET BULLS -8.5 (-115) to cover the spread and win comfortably.

The 8.5 points is the most Chicago has been favored by in any of its last 10 games. In the Bulls’ last four home games, they covered the spread three times, while Orlando is just 2-2 ATS on the road in its last four games.

Over/Under

OVER 221.5 (-120) is the way to go.

There hasn’t been an obvious trend on the Over/Under for the Bulls or Magic this season, but in their last 10 games, the Over is 6-3-1 for each team.

The total went Over in each of their last two games, including four of the last six for the Magic.

Dallas Mavericks at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Sunday’s Dallas Mavericks at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Mavericks (29-21) are on the road for one game before opening a six-game homestand when they take on the Orlando Magic (10-40) Sunday. Tip-off from Amway Center is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Mavericks vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Mavericks are rolling right now. They have won two games in a row and are 13-3 in their last 16 games. Dallas is coming off a 132-105 home win over the Indiana Pacers Saturday.

Orland is wrapping up a five-game homestand Sunday. The Magic are coming off a 119-103 home win over the Detroit Pistons Friday and have won two of their last three games. They had gone 1-14 in the 15 games prior to the first of those two wins. Orlando has the fewest wins in the league, the fewest home wins and the second-fewest road wins.

Mavericks at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Mavericks 108, Magic 100

Money line

The money line isn’t too bad here, even though the Mavericks are a much better team. Dallas has done its damage at home, where it is 16-9. It is just a single game over .500 on the road at 13-12.

The Mavericks beat the Magic on their home court 108-92 Jan. 15

Despite two wins for the Magic in the first four games of their homestand, they only have four home wins all season.

Take the MAVERICKS (-230).

Against the spread

The Mavericks are 10-6 ATS during their 13-3 run, which includes their 16-point win over the Magic. Dallas is 14-11 ATS on the road.

The Magic have failed to cover the spread in their last five losses. They are 22-28 ATS overall but only 6-16 ATS at home, the second-worst home ATS record in the league.

Take the MAVERICKS -5.5 (-110).

Over/Under

The first meeting of these two teams finished with a total of 200. The Mavs scored 132 in each of their last two games, but they averaged just 103.2 in the previous seven games.

The Magic have the third-lowest scoring offense in the league with 102.4 points per game.

The Mavs have had three straight games hit the Over, but only one of the 14 prior games went Over the projected total.

Take UNDER 211.5 (-112).

Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Detroit Pistons at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons (11-36) travel to Amway Center Friday to take on the Orlando Magic (9-40). Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Pistons vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Magic have the worst record in the Association and have covered the spread in just one of their last six games. Orlando is 2-8 in its last 10 outings, one of which was a 97-92 loss to the Pistons in the Motor City Jan. 8. Orlando is 21-28 against the spread (ATS). The Magic’s 3-18 home record is actually worse than their road record (6-22).

The Pistons have covered four straight spreads and are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 outings.

While three of those seven covers have come as double-digit underdogs, they’re nonetheless keeping games close. Detroit is 24-23 ATS overall and 4-21 straight up (SU) on the road.

Pistons at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 107, Magic 104

Money line

SPRINKLE on the PISTONS (+133).

They’re the better team and have been a covering machine as of late. These teams rank within a few spots in turnover rate, true shooting percentage and defensive rating, all near the bottom of the league.

However, this game may be decided by a few points, so the Pistons’ significantly better free throw rate could give them the edge. Detroit is also the much hotter team and hasn’t played since Tuesday so should be well-rested.

Against the spread

BET on the PISTONS +3.5 (-110).

They say home-court advantage counts for around 3 points, so these teams would be about even on a neutral court.

With both teams missing key star players, it’ll be youth and role players that must step up. I trust players like F Saddiq Bey, who is averaging 15.9 points per game, more than guards Cole Anthony and Jalen Suggs.

Over/Under

PASS with a slight lean to the Under 212.5 (-112).

Both of these teams are .500 on the total. The Pistons are 23-23-1 O/U this season, and the Magic are 24-24-1 O/U.

That said, it’s two bad offenses and two bad defenses, so anything can happen. I’d stay away with Pistons as the best play in this game.
