Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

On Wednesday evening, the Boston Celtics (2-5) will take a trip down south to take on the Orlando Magic (2-6). The game will be held at Amway Center with a 7 p.m. ET tip. Below, we look at the Celtics at Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Led by SF Jayson Tatum and SG Jaylen Brown, the Celtics have kicked off the season losing five of seven.

For a team with playoff aspirations, having dropped games consecutive games to the Wizards and then also losing to the Knicks, Raptors and Bulls is unacceptable. They’ll look to bounce back on track on the road.

As for the Magic, they’ve started to turn some heads behind the play of PG Cole Anthony and rookie SF Franz Wagner.

Along with several other high-potential prospects, the Magic are coming off a come-from-behind win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Orlando won’t be a favorite in many games, but the Magic do put up a fight.

Celtics at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 112, Magic 108

Money line

PASS on the money line with a slight lean to the Magic.

At home and starting to find their rhythm, I think a +220 underdog is worth a look. Given that I don’t envision them winning, I’m not going to suggest betting this side, but it does hold more value than the -280 given to Boston.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the MAGIC +6.5 (-112) as they’re actually impressed so far this season.

The only problem here is that their youth doesn’t aid efficiency on some nights. However, Anthony is starting to blossom like Orlando hoped he would’ve when drafting him in the top ten last year.

As a team, the Magic rank in the top half in true shooting percentage and bottom five in pace. At a 6.5-point spread, all they need to do is stay competitive, and with the way they’ve been playing, I think they’ll at least hang with Boston.

The Celtics are bottom ten in net rating and defensive rating. Expect a big night from Anthony and C Mo Bamba.

Over/Under

BET on the OVER 216.5 (-110) as Orlando is starting to surge, and both teams have forgotten how to play defense.

In Orlando’s defense, they’re crippled from injuries and opt to start two smaller guards and a rookie. For Boston, there’s really no excuse, however, they do push the pace and force teams to keep up with them.

Boston ranks 27th in defensive rating and then 15th in pace. They’ve topped 105 points in all but one game. With Tatum a full-blown superstar, expect him to score quite a bit against an undersized Magic.

The Magic are dead last in defensive rating as well. Two horrible defensive teams should make for a high-scoring game.

New York Knicks at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s New York Knicks at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Knicks (1-0) head south to take on the Orlando Magic (0-1) Friday.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET from Amway Center. Below, we look at the Knicks vs. Magic odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

The Knicks, who were one of the best Against The Spread teams in the NBA last season, are coming off a thrilling double-overtime win over the Boston Celtics and look to continue their dominance in their second game. New York is led by F Julius Randle and enters as a heavy favorite despite being on the road.

Center Mohamed Bamba and G Cole Anthony lead the Magic with F Jonathan Isaac sidelined. Orlando started the season with a brutal 26-point road loss to the San Antonio Spurs. The Magic started two rookies — Guards Franz Wagner and Jalen Suggs — along with Anthony in the defeat as they remain at the beginning of a lengthy rebuild.

Knicks at Magic odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 106, Magic 97

Money line

PASS on the money line.

There’s just not much value in Knicks -320. They should win this game against a heavily injured Magic team that started two rookies in a blowout loss to the Spurs.

However, odds this steep on the money line shouldn’t be considered as upsets run rampant in the NBA.

Against the spread

BET on the KNICKS -7.5 (-110) as the best value. After covering a 2.5-point spread in double overtime at home against the Celtics, New York hits the road for the first time.

While I do love the Knicks, PF Julius Randle, PG Derrick Rose, and others like SG Alec Burks and SG Evan Fournier don’t quite get it done against elite competition, as was shown in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs.

However, the Magic aren’t elite competition, and the Knicks did have the fourth-best defensive rating in the NBA last season. That’s really all you need to know.

The Magic will again start two rookies against a mighty defense. That’s a recipe for disaster as no player reached 20 points as the team failed to score 100 in their season opener at San Antonio.

Did you see the above injury report? That’s just disastrous for the home team.

I’m siding with the team that has actual expectations this season against one with multiple rookies that relies on Mo Bamba for scoring.

It’s just the better bet in this instance. The line opened at -6, and is up as -8 in some places, so bettors are going heavy on New York.

Over/Under

“LEAN” on the UNDER 212.5 (-110).

The Magic only mustered 97 points in their opener, and while the Knicks did put up 138 against the Celtics, they also did have the 22nd-best offensive rating last year and the game went to double overtime.

Randle, Rose, Burks, and Fournier are all certainly capable of having an off night which is why money line wagers aren’t ideal. Randle and Fournier combining for 67 a second game is unlikely.

However, the Knicks’ defense and the Magic’s injuries to go with their youth point all things to the Under for a comfortable half unit bet.

The Magic have lost three games in a row and 10 of their last 13 contests. They have been eliminated from postseason contention and finish the season with four games on the road against three Eastern Conference teams who will be in the playoffs. They are 0-2 against the Bucks this season.

The Bucks lost 146-125 Monday night to the San Antonio Spurs, snapping a five-game winning streak. They have clinched a playoff berth and are in third place in the East, one game behind the Brooklyn Nets for second place.

Magic at Bucks: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bucks 120, Magic 111

Money line (ML)

Betting the money line doesn’t make sense in this game unless you think the Magic can pull off the straight-up upset win.

Considering they only have three wins in their last 13 games and two of them came against teams below them in the standings, it seems highly unlikely.

PASS on the money line and go with the spread and total.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Despite one of the best records in the NBA, the Bucks are not good against the spread. They are 31-37 ATS this season. Orlando is 31-35-2.

The Bucks have not covered a double-digit spread since March 11. However, the Magic have lost by at least 10 points in each of their last three games.

Still, with that large a spread, LEAN MAGIC +14 (-110).

Over/Under (O/U)

This feels like a lock. The Bucks are No. 2 in the league in Over percentage at 58.2%. Orlando is No. 6 at 55.2%.

Twelve of the last 15 games for the Magic have gone Over. They have allowed 122 or more points in their last three games. The Bucks have put up 124 or more in their last four.

Take OVER 229.5 POINTS (-110).

Minnesota Timberwolves at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Minnesota Timberwolves at Orlando Magic NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Minnesota Timberwolves (20-47) travel to meet the Orlando Magic (21-46) Sunday at Amway Center. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Timberwolves vs. Magic odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Timberwolves fell 121-112 in Miami on Friday, failing to cover as an eight-point underdog. Minnesota has lost three in a row, while also failing to cover each outing. The Over is 4-0 in the past four for the Timberwolves.

The Magic have dropped the past two outings, outscored by an average of 23.0 PPG. Like the Timberwolves, the Over has connected in each of the previous four outings for the Magic.

Timberwolves at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Timberwolves 121, Magic 112

Money line (ML)

The Timberwolves (-275) will cost you nearly three times your potential return, and that’s just a little too costly despite the fact the Magic (+220) are skidding quite hard.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The TIMBERWOLVES -6.5 (-110) are 3-1-1 ATS across the past five games on the road, and they’re 3-1-2 ATS in the past six against teams with a losing overall record.

The Magic +6.5 (-110) have dropped the past two by an average of 23.0 PPG, and Orlando screams stay away.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 229.5 (-110) is the lean here, as neither side has seemed particularly interested in defense lately.

The Over is 7-0 in Orlando’s past seven at home while seeing the Over cash in 16 of the last 21 games overall. The Over is 4-0 in the past four overall for Minnesota while going 4-1 in the past five against losing teams.

Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

Having won their last two games, the Orlando Magic (21-44) will try to make it three straight on Wednesday night at home against the Boston Celtics (34-31). They’re big underdogs, but they’re used to it; Orlando hasn’t been favored since February. Tip-off from Amway Center will be at 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Celtics-Magic odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Celtics have once again hit a rough patch, losing four of their last six games. They’ve had the last two days off, but on Sunday, they lost by 10 points to the Trail Blazers as 1-point underdogs.

Boston’s stars have been in and out of the lineup due to injury, which has certainly played into the team’s struggles.

The Magic have surprisingly won two straight games and three of their last four, with those victories coming against the Detroit Pistons, Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers – admittedly, not the toughest competition.

They too have been banged up and will be missing several key players on Wednesday night against the Celtics.

Celtics at Magic: Odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 9:28 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Celtics -550 (bet $550 to win $100) | Magic +400 (bet $100 to win $400)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Celtics -10.5 (-110) | Magic +10.5 (-110)

Celtics at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Celtics 119, Magic 107

Money line (ML)

The Celtics have looked shaky as of late, while the Magic have suddenly won three of their last four.

But, there’s no chance I’m picking the Magic to continue their winning streak and beat the Celtics – not even at home.

I’m not willing to make a bet on the Celtics money line, either, at -550. So I would PASS here.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

In their last six games, the Celtics have covered the spread only once: a 120-111 win over the Hornets last week. They’ve struggled to beat teams convincingly, even when heavily favored.

But the Magic are extremely short-handed and the Celtics are expected to have Walker and Tatum on the floor.

I like the CELTICS -10.5 (-110) to cover the spread tonight.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Celtics’ recent games have been fairly high-scoring affairs, including a 143-140 win over the Spurs with Jayson Tatum contributing 60 points to that total.

The total has gone Over in each of the Celtics’ last five games, as well as in six of the Magic’s last seven.

Despite Orlando missing some of its top players, bet the OVER 218.5 (-110) tonight.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Orlando Magic (18-43) travel to meet the Cleveland Cavaliers (21-40) Tuesday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Tip-off is set for a 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Magic-Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Magic have dropped six straight since a 115-106 win in Chicago April 14, and they’re 0-5-1 ATS across the six-game skid. The Over has connected in three in a row while going 7-1 across the past eight contests overall.

The Cavaliers suffered a 112-96 loss at Toronto as 11.5-point underdogs in Tampa, losing and failing to cover for the third straight outing. Cleveland is also 1-6 SU/ATS across the past seven outings. The last time these teams met was in a back-to-back set in Orlando Jan. 4-6, with the Cavs losing 103-83 in the first game and 105-94 in the second contest.

Magic at Cavaliers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Cavaliers 107, Magic 103

Money line (ML)

The CAVALIERS (-140) are worth a look at home against the skidding Magic (+115). Cleveland isn’t exactly lighting the world afire, but Orlando is also struggling and the Cavs are at home.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The CAVALIERS -2 (-110) are a decent play, as the Magic +2 (-110) are 0-5-1 ATS across the past six outings. Rather than playing the Cavs straight up, simply lay the bucket and enjoy.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 211.5 (-110) is a strong play in this battle between the dregs of the Eastern Conference. The Under has cashed in nine of the past 10 meetings in this series, while going 4-1 in the past five battles in Cleveland.

The Under is also 6-1 in Orlando’s past seven against teams with a losing record, while the Under is 5-2-1 in Cleveland’s past eight.

Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Indiana Pacers at Orlando Magic NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (28-31) travel to meet the Orlando Magic (18-41) Sunday at Amway Center. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Pacers-Magic odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

The Pacers picked up a 115-109 win against the visiting Detroit Pistons on Saturday. Indiana has won two in a row for the first time since a three-game win streak from April 7-11, which includes its last trip to Orlando.

The Magic was dusted 135-100 by the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night, losing for the fourth straight outing.

Orlando has also failed to cover in each of the past four, and is 1-6 ATS across the past seven. The Magic did cover April 9 in a 111-106 loss to the Pacers, barely, as six-point dogs.

Pacers at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Pacers 118, Magic 108

Money line (ML)

The Pacers (-225) will cost you more than two times your potential return, and that’s a risky proposition since they’re on the road. It’s just a little past my personal limit of -180 for a money line play.

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The PACERS -5.5 (-110) is the way to go, and a much better value than just playing the money line.

Indiana is 16-7-1 ATS across the past 24 games as a road favorite and 16-5-1 ATS in the past 22 on the road against teams with a losing home mark.

On the flip side, the Magic +5.5 (-110) are skidding hard, failing to cash in each of the past four, while going 0-4 ATS in the past four at home, too, and 0-4 ATS in the previous four as an underdog.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 224.5 (-115) is the play according to the trends and don’t worry about Indiana having just played Saturday night.

The Pacers have hit the Over in 15 of their past 20 games on the road while going 5-2 in the past seven overall. And the Over is 5-1 in their past six when playing on no rest.

The Magic has hit the Over in five of the past six, and five of the previous six as an underdog, too.

The Over is also 6-2 in Orlando’s past eight at home, and 6-1 in the past seven meetings with Indiana, too.

Toronto has won back-to-back games just once in its last 25 games while going 6-19 since Feb. 23.

The Raptors won and covered the spread in each of the first two head-to-head meetings this season. Toronto won 123-108 Feb. 2, behind a 54-point effort from SG Fred VanVleet.

Magic at Raptors: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Magic 107, Raptors 102

Money line (ML)

The MAGIC (+115) are worth a shot as modest road underdogs. VanVleet returns from a seven-game absence Friday, but the Raptors are opting to rest three key starters and Trent is likely to sit due to injury.

There can’t be any stock put into the season’s first two meetings. Both clubs have turned their attention toward the draft lottery after selling at the trade deadline.

With all the injuries and missing bodies, the Magic lead the NBA with 48.7 bench points per game across their last 10 outings. The Raptors are just 29th with 26.7 points off the bench per game over their last 10.

Against the spread (ATS)

Get some insurance with the MAGIC +2.5 (-110) on the spread. They’re last for the season in field-goal percentage and are just 25th from 3-point range. Toronto has the edge in efficiency from beyond the arc and from the free-throw line.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 212.5 (-110) is the play with the talent missing Friday night in Tampa.

The Raptors and Magic rank 27th and 22nd, respectively, in 3-point percentage over their last 10 games.

Magic at Bulls: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Bulls 110, Magic 103

Money line (ML)

Laying four-and-a-half times your potential return on Bulls (-450) is a rather risky proposition, as Chicago is on a three-game slide. Regardless of their  streak, you can’t play money lines this high and expect to make money over the long haul.

AVOID.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The MAGIC +9.5 (-110) have dropped six in a row, but they have covered seven of the past 10 as an underdog of five or more points. The Magic have also covered four of the past five games on the road.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 218.5 (-105) is worth a look, and if you are a trend bettor, you’ll like this info. The Under is 21-6 in the past 27 meetings, including 7-0 in the past seven meetings in Chicago.

The Under is also 7-0 in Chicago’s past seven at home and 6-2 in their past eight as a favorite.

Spurs at Magic: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Spurs 117, Magic 108

Money line (ML)

The Spurs (-250) will cost you two-and-a-half times your potential, but that’s risky business on a team that has won just once in the past six outings, including a 125-101 loss at the hands of the lowly Cavaliers April 5. Don’t do it!

PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The SPURS -6 (-110) have struggled lately, but it pales in comparison to the stumbling Magic +6 (-110). Orlando was blasted by 37 points on its home floor Sunday, and they have covered just twice in the past five outings after a solid 5-0 ATS run from March 24-April 1.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 220.5 (-110) is the play, cashing in five of the past six games overall for the Spurs while going 5-1 in their past six as a favorite, too.

The Under hit in the most-recent meeting against the Magic, and Orlando is averaging just 96.5 PPG in the past two outings. However, the Over is still 4-1 in their past five overall and 7-3 in the past 10 at home.
