Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Toronto Raptors at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Toronto Raptors (13-13) battle the Orlando Magic (7-20) Sunday with tip from Amway Center in Orlando set for 6 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Raptors vs. Magic odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Raptors lost to the Magic 113-109 on the road Friday, failing to cover as 8-point favorites. Orlando used a 37-point 1st quarter to bounce ahead and never looked back.

Toronto is 14-12 against the spread (ATS) on the season but is just 3-10 straight up on the road and 2-4 ATS over its last 6 games. The Raptors are led by F Pascal Siakam, who is averaging 25.3 points per game.

The Magic are 12-14-1 ATS on the season but have covered 3 straight games, all of which they were underdogs by at least 7 points. Orlando is 6-9 straight up at home. It is led by No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 21.9 per game.

Raptors at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Raptors 118, Magic 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Raptors should bounce back here, but they aren’t great on the road. The Magic are 6-9 at home, so at (+235), there is some value. Ultimately, I would pass as I don’t see Orlando beating a better Toronto team twice in 3 days.

Against the spread

BET RAPTORS -6.5 (-120).

The Raptors are the better team and should be able to bounce back.

Winning multiple games against the same opponent is not easy. That said, while the Magic covered Friday, they are just 4-6 ATS in their last 10 games and are just 3-3 ATS at home over that span.

Toronto lost the battle on the glass Friday, and with the 3rd-best offensive rebounding rate, that should be a big-time factor that isn’t repeated. Orlando sits 16th in defensive rebounding.

Orlando also hit 59% from the field which is unlikely to happen again. Outside of that first quarter, Toronto won the remaining 3 by 8 as well, so it is the better side and should play like it Sunday.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 222.5 (-110).

Having gone Under the projected 223.0 total Friday, this matchup is likely to be 1 in which Toronto shoots better than 42% from the field.

Also, the Raptors have traded off going Over and Under in their last 7, primed for the Over to cash. The Magic have traded off going Over and Under in their last 9, also set to help cash the Over.

Orlando is 13-14 O/U this season while Toronto is 13-13 O/U. The trends suggest this one will go OVER 222.5 (-110).

Milwaukee Bucks at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Milwaukee Bucks at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Milwaukee Bucks (16-6) face the Orlando Magic (5-19) Monday at Amway Center in Orlando. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Bucks vs. Magic odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Bucks have won 4 of the past 5 games overall, going 3-1-1 against the spread (ATS). F Giannis Antetokounmpo missed Saturday’s game at Charlotte due to a knee ailment but isn’t on the injury report for Monday’s game.

The Magic have dropped 8 consecutive games dating back to a Nov. 18 victory at the Chicago Bulls. Orlando is also 1-6 ATS across the past 7 games overall, while alternating the Over and Under in the past 6 games. Orlando has also lost 5 straight games at home dating back to a 114-97 win over the Phoenix Suns on Nov. 11.

Bucks at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Bucks 121, Magic 107

Moneyline

The Bucks (-425) will cost you more 4 times your potential return, and that’s a little on the costly side, even with the Magic struggling as much as they are.

PASS.

Against the spread

The BUCKS -9.5 (-110) have enough talent to win by double digits against this bad team from O-Town despite some key injuries.

The good news is that Antetokounmpo and G Jrue Holiday (knee) are off the injury report, and Middleton is probable to play. The bad news is that Allen, a starter, is questionable to play due to right plantar fascia soreness, while depth players Beauchamp and Ibaka are sidelined due to a non-COVID illness.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 224.5 (-110), but go lightly with a half-unit play only.

The Under is 12-2 in the past 14 games on the road, but the Over is 5-2 in the past 7 games overall for the Bucks. The Over is also 7-3-1 in the past 11 meetings in this series in Orlando.

With “The Greek Freak” and Holiday back on the floor, and Middleton likely to suit up, Milwaukee should be all systems go and ready to roll up some strong offensive numbers against a bad Magic side.

Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Orlando Magic at Cleveland Cavaliers odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (5-17) visit Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse Friday to take on the Cleveland Cavaliers (14-8). Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Cavaliers odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Cavaliers destroyed Philadelphia 113-85 Wednesday, covering as 3.5-point home favorites. Cleveland was 0-2-1 against the spread (ATS) in its last 3 games before Wednesday’s victory and is 12-8-2 ATS on the season.

They’re led by offseason addition, G Donovan Mitchell. He is averaging 28.4 points per game and shooting 49.0% from the field. C Jarrett Allen, their 4th-leading scorer (13.5), is expected to miss Friday’s action.

Orlando has been decimated by injuries and is 9-12-1 ATS on the season. It is just 1-9 straight up on the road as well and is coming off a brutal 125-108 road loss to the Atlanta Hawks Wednesday.

The Magic are 1-0 ATS in the lone game in which they were double-figure underdogs (11.5), a 109-102 road loss to the Brooklyn Nets Monday. Orlando is led by 2022 No. 1 overall pick F Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 22.7 points per game.

Magic at Cavaliers picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 113, Magic 102

Moneyline

PASS.

The Magic are 1-9 straight up on the road, and Cleveland is 9-1 straight up at home. While these values are fair, they are unplayable. Look to the spread for value.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -10.5 (-105).

While the spread seems large, the Magic are on the road and coming off a game in which they allowed a combined 57 points to Atlanta guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray.

The combination of Mitchell and G Darius Garland is just as lethal. Combine F Evan Mobley, who should be able to defend Banchero as well as anyone in the NBA, and the Cavaliers are a strong play.

Orlando is just 1-4 ATS over its last 5 games and Cleveland is 4-2-1 over its last 7. The Cavs are also 8-1-1 ATS at home.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 216.5 (-105).

The Cavaliers have gone Under in 6 of their last 7 games. They rank 29th in terms of pace while Orlando is 23rd.

Couple that with the Magic’s offense which has the 6th-worst offensive rating, and scoring may be difficult for the road squad. Neither team ranks in the top 15 in offensive rebounding either, so extra opportunities may be rare.

Put it all together with the fact that both teams rank in the bottom 10 in turnover rate yet neither will want to run, and the UNDER 216.5 (-110) is a strong play here.

Dallas Mavericks at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Dallas Mavericks at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (2-9) welcome the Dallas Mavericks (6-3) to the Amway Center Wednesday. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Mavericks vs. Magic odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

With the league taking Election Day off after every team played Monday, action picks back up with 13 Wednesday games including this non-conference battle. The Magic are riding a 2-game losing streak following an improbable home win Nov. 3 over the Golden State Warriors.

Their star and No. 1 overall pick F Paolo Banchero (23.5 PPG, 8.3 RPG) is questionable with an ankle injury. That could mean more opportunity for F Franz Wagner, who is averaging 18.1 points per game. Seven Magic players average double figures.

For the Mavericks, superstar G Luka Doncic could be the league MVP to this point in the season. He’s averaging 36 points, 8.4 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game.

The Mavs sit in 5th place in the Western Conference. After a slow start to the season, they have now won 4 straight games, the last 3 by a combined 6 points.

Mavericks at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Mavericks 110, Magic 102

Moneyline

PASS.

The Mavs have been playing close games, and at -300, they are not worth a look. Similarly, neither are the Magic if Banchero is anything other than 100%.

Against the spread

BET MAVERICKS -7.5 (-101).

In this situation, I’m more prone to trust Doncic. The Mavs last few games have been close, but they have also been against the Utah Jazz, Brooklyn Nets and Toronto Raptors — all playoff-caliber teams. The Magic aren’t that.

The Mavs have the 2nd-best offensive rating while the Magic rank 25th in defensive rating. The Mavs also have the 5th-best net rating which could imply they are better than their record indicates.

They rank 3rd in effective field goal rate while Orlando is 24th in opponents shooting. Neither team has been great at covering, but Dallas is 2-1 ATS as the road team.

I’d back the Mavericks -7.5 (-101) here.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 215.5 (-110).

The Mavericks have had their last 2 opponents to 110 or fewer points.

I would wait to see the status of Banchero as he is the Magic’s leading scorer. If he’s sidelined, this line shouldn’t be drastically impacted, but Orlando’s ability to score, already with an inefficient offense, takes a hit.

What Dallas does well — get to the free throw line — Orlando actually may take away, sitting 17th in opponent free throw attempt rate. With the Magic being the slowest team in the league, back the Under 215.5 (-110).

Orlando Magic at Dallas Mavericks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Orlando Magic at Dallas Mavericks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Mavericks (2-3) welcome the Orlando Magic (1-5) to the American Airlines Center Sunday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Mavericks odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Mavericks are coming into this game having alternated wins and losses this entire season, starting off the year with a 107-105 loss on the road to the Phoenix Suns. They have beaten the Brooklyn Nets and Memphis Grizzlies and lost to the New Orleans Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder.

Dallas made the Western Conference finals last season behind the play of MVP candidate G Luka Doncic, who is averaging 35.2 points, 10.8 rebounds and 9.4 assists per game this season.

The Magic are coming off their 1st win of the season over the short-handed Charlotte Hornets. This will be the 1st of a 2-game road trip with it being capped off against the Thunder on Tuesday.

Orlando is led by No. 1 overall pick F Paolo Banchero. The 19-year-old has scored 20 or more points in all 6 games, with his career-high 29 points coming in a Wednesday loss at the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Magic at Mavericks picks and predictions

Prediction

Mavericks 116, Magic 102

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s just no value here, especially given Dallas’ struggles this season.

Against the spread

BET MAVERICKS -9.5 (-108).

This should be a good bounce-back spot for Dallas. It is at home and playing against an inexperienced team.

Outside of the Dallas loss to OKC, one in which the Thunder shot 49.4% from deep, its losses have been to tough, championship-contending sides.

The Mavs are legit and have the 2nd-best net rating. They were 7th in defensive rating last season, with an errily similar roster, while Orlando sits 28th in offensive rating.

The Mavs also sit 3rd in true shooting percentage, so their aptitude defensively and efficiency offensively should carry them to cover. Dallas was 20-12-2 ATS as a home favorite last season.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 211.5 (-112).

The Dallas offensive efficiency should be key in this battle.

With the Magic 20th and the Mavs 27th in pace, it should be a slow game, but this is a low total. Neither team ranks in the league’s top 10 in defensive rating either, so good looks could be plentiful.

The Mavs have gone over 110 in all but 1 game, and to add to that, the Magic have gone under 100 in just 2 of 6. Combine the 2, and the Over 211.5 (-112) seems like the better play.

Charlotte Hornets at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Charlotte Hornets at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charlotte Hornets (2-2) visit the Amway Center Friday to take on the winless Orlando Magic (0-5). Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Hornets vs. Magic odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Hornets are coming into this game off a disappointing 134-131 road loss to the New York Knicks. They’ve defeated the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks and also lost to the  New Orleans Pelicans.

Charlotte is led by G Terry Rozier, who is averaging 23.5 points per game but is battling an ankle injury. G LaMelo Ball and F Miles Bridges, who captained the team last season, have both yet to play this year.

The Magic lost as 8.5-point underdogs on the road Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, failing to cover in the 103-92 defeat. They’ve lost just 2 of their last 5 games by single digits.

Orlando has been led by F Paolo Banchero, the 2022 NBA Draft’s No. 1 overall pick. He is averaging 24 points per game and is shooting 44.8% from the field.

Hornets at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Magic 114, Hornets 110

Moneyline

BET MAGIC (+110).

Despite losing to the Pistons and being worse than the Brooklyn Nets, the Magic sit 28th in net rating. They’ve been able to keep games close against top competition, covering as 8.5-point home underdogs against Boston.

With C Wendell Carter Jr. and F Franz Wagner, they have the size and shooting, and Banchero adds the playmaking. With Charlotte down its top-3 scorers from last season in this game, expect Orlando to be able to rally at home.

The Magic also rank 19th in offensive rebounding rate which is solid for a team sitting bottom 10 in most stats, and with the Hornets bottom 5 in defensive rebounding, I’d back the home side to win.

Against the spread

PASS.

I would prefer the plus-money moneyline odds here. With late-game fouling, betting any spreads until 3.5 could give way to some serious bad beats.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 221.5 (-108).

I just don’t see Charlotte being able to stay competitive offensively in this game without Bridges, Rozier and Ball.

With F Gordon Hayward as its main scoring threat and G Dennis Smith Jr. having been inefficient throughout his NBA career, the Hornets could have a tough game.

With the 28th-best offensive rating, the Magic haven’t been anything special offensively either. The Hornets do push the pace often, but the presence of Rozier has aided their 7th-best pace.

Without Rozier, I’d prefer the Under 221.5 (-108) here.

Orlando Magic at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Orlando Magic at New York Knicks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The New York Knicks (1-1) welcome the Orlando Magic (0-3) to Madison Square Garden Monday. Tip is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (NBATV). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Knicks odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Magic might not have a win yet this season, but they have been a fun team to watch behind the impressive play of No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero, who is averaging 23.3 points and 8.7 rebounds per game.

Orlando is coming off a 126-120 loss Friday to the Boston Celtics, covering as 8.5-point home underdogs. The Magic are 1-2 against the spread (ATS) this season.

The Knicks are 1 of the 5 teams undefeated ATS. New York beat the Pistons 130-106 in its last game on Thursday and opened the season with a 115-112 road overtime loss to Memphis.

The Knicks are led in scoring by F Julius Randle, who is averaging 19.5 points per game. New York has 7 players averaging in double figures through 2 games.

Magic at Knicks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 113, Magic 108

Moneyline

PASS.

The Magic have a good roster, and they may pose a threat to New York. Nonetheless, I’ll pass on predicting Orlando to get its 1st win of the season on the road.

Against the spread

BET MAGIC +7.5 (-112).

Compared to where they were a season ago, the Magic have played well despite being winless. They sit 16th in the league in effective field goal percentage, 1 spot above the Knicks. They also sit 21st in offensive rating.

The main struggles for the Magic have been defensively, and while the Knicks sit 7th in offensive rating, they don’t have an MVP-caliber scorer, so this seems a tad inflated, especially considering they were 23rd a season ago.

Orlando has a few young guns who have impressed. Couple that with a spread this large, and I’d back the Magic to cover.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 218.5 (-112).

The Knicks sit 6th in the NBA in offensive rebounding rate and added G Jalen Brunson in the offense, which has tremendously aided their halfcourt attack.

With Banchero adding a spark offensively for the Magic and G Franz Wagner having stepped up as well, points should come in bunches for both sides.

Also, the Magic have a defensive rating of 112.1, so defending is not a strength for the road side.

Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Boston Celtics at Orlando Magic odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The defending Eastern Conference Champion Boston Celtics (2-0) travel down south to visit the rebuilding Orlando Magic (0-2) in Saturday night NBA action. Tipoff from Amway Center is set for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Celtics vs. Magic odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Celtics come into this game looking to continue their undefeated start to the season. With stars F Jayson Tatum and G Jaylen Brown both playing like MVPs to start the season, the Celtics are looking like the favorites to win the East as of right now. The Celtics were able to keep the majority of their team together that went to the Finals last year while also adding major players like G Malcolm Brogdon, F Danilo Gallinari and F Blake Griffin.

The Magic are coming into this game looking to beat a powerhouse team in the East. The Magic are in full rebuild mode as they have been one of the worst teams in the NBA for the last few years. They have been drafting well and have many young pieces, including rookie F Paolo Banchero, who is proving why he was the No. 1 pick in the draft. He is averaging 23.5 points and 10.5 boards per game, which lead the team.

Celtics at Magic picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 114, Magic 94

Moneyline

AVOID

The Celtics should win this one with ease, but the risk here is far too great for me to advise you to bet in either direction for this game. Avoid the moneyline here.

Against the spread

BET CELTICS -8.5 (-117)

This is your best bet for this game. The Magic are severely undermanned for this game due to all the injuries they have. They are missing key pieces in both the frontcourt and backcourt and all those pieces could help both offensively and defensively in this tough matchup. The injury to Isaac is especially painful as he would likely be the primary defender on Tatum. With Brown and Tatum both playing at an extremely high level to start the season off I expect this one to be a blowout win for the Celtics in Orlando.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 216.5 (-115)

If both teams were fully healthy I would likely tell you to bet the Over, but they aren’t. With the Celtics still being without their starting center, they are going to continue to miss both his interior defense and rebounding, which hurts them on both ends. And with Orlando missing most of its scoring potential due to injury, I expect the under to be a fairly safe bet for this game. I expect Banchero, Tatum and Brown to all shine in this game, but I do not think that will be enough to carry this game past the Over.

Orlando Magic at Atlanta Hawks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Orlando Magic at Atlanta Hawks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Orlando Magic (0-1) visit State Farm Arena Friday to take on the Atlanta Hawks (1-0). Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Hawks odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Magic come into this game following a 113-109 loss at the Detroit Pistons as 3.5-point underdogs and have yet to play a game at home. Orlando got out to a quick double-digit lead but couldn’t withstand a second- and third-quarter push from Detroit.

No. 1 overall pick F Paolo Banchero is already the Magic’s best player, having scored 27 points in his debut. He chipped in 9 rebounds and 5 assists in 35 minutes as well.

The Hawks enter fresh off a 117-107 home win over the Houston Rockets as 10.5-point favorites. Atlanta had 4 players score 20 or more points with G Trae Young having a game-high 13 assists to go along with his 23 points.

G Dejounte Murray had 20 points and 11 assists in his Hawks debut. Also notable, big man F/C Onyeka Okongwu chipped in 13 points and 9 rebounds in 21 minutes off the bench.

Magic at Hawks picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 115, Magic 105

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no real value here with the Hawks (-500) as the clear favorite and the better team — the risk isn’t worth the reward.

Against the spread

LEAN HAWKS -9.5 (-105).

Atlanta is simply the better team. Murray helps cover many of its defensive flaws which were so often the destructive point a season ago. He appears to be the perfect fit with Young.

Banchero and the Magic are still a young team, and although they showed promise in spurts against Detroit, they couldn’t put it together for a full 48 despite shooting more efficiently and winning the rebounding battle.

Young and the Hawks have a much higher offensive ceiling. While the sample size is small, Orlando is 0-1 ATS as a road dog.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 225.5 (-112).

The Magic shot 48.8% from the field Wednesday and still only put up 109 points. They’ll be taking on a team with more size and quickness Friday.

The Hawks sit 7th in the league in defensive rating after 1 game. Their pace is high, but that’s the style of play Houston wanted to play at. The Magic will slow it down as they sit 18th in pace.

Orlando doesn’t have the scoring to consistently dominate offensively, and that will loom large on the total in this game. The Magic got just 17 points from their bench in their opener.

Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Orlando Magic at Detroit Pistons odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Detroit Pistons welcome the Orlando Magic to Little Caesars Arena Wednesday as both squads open their seasons. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Magic vs. Pistons odds, and our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Both the Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons have been doing their best to rebuild through the draft. The Magic were awarded the No. 1 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft and added Duke F Paolo Banchero, who is expected to start Wednesday.

Orlando finished last in the Eastern Conference last season with just 22 wins. The 5th overall pick from 2021, G Jalen Suggs, is expected to have a larger role on this roster as well.

Detroit is expecting to have a much better season this year with 2021 No. 1 pick G Cade Cunningham entering his 2nd season. G Jaden Ivey was the team’s 1st-round pick, the 5th overall selection in 2022.

Sharpshooter F Saddiq Bey should have a large role offensively along with hustle-minded big man C Isaiah Stewart, who is expected to start at the 5. Detroit finished 14th in the Eastern Conference last season.

Magic at Pistons picks and predictions

Prediction

Pistons 110, Magic 104

Moneyline

PASS.

I like Detroit here, but I wouldn’t play the moneyline value with the juice on it. Take the points.

Against the spread

BET PISTONS -3.5 (-110).

The Pistons should have the best player on the court in Cunningham with Isaac out for the Magic. Orlando doesn’t have much efficient playmaking, and its size could be a problem against Stewart as well.

The next generation of Detroit players is more primed for instant success with Cunningham averaging 21 points per game on 45.2% shooting over his final 21 games last season.

Orlando has Suggs, G Cole Anthony and F Franz Wagner who are solid options, but the size and skill along with the home-court edge should give value to Detroit.

Detroit was 22-18-1 against the spread (ATS) at home last season.

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 217.5 (-110).

There are going to be many young players in this game, and while that could result in extra opportunities, there’s a good chance inefficient offense is also the result.

These teams ranked in the bottom 3 in offensive rating last season, and there wasn’t much improvement to either roster outside of rookies who will be making their first NBA start.

Expect inefficient basketball here.
