Redshirt freshman S Trejon Williams, former 4-star recruit, no longer with Oregon program

Redshirt freshman Trejon Williams is no longer with the Oregon program. He was a 4-star recruit but played 0 snaps in 2022.

The Oregon Ducks saw more roster turnover this week as a former member of the 2023 recruiting class was deemed no longer with the program, a UO spokesperson confirmed.

Trejon Williams, a former 4-star safety, has been removed from the team’s roster online, and was not seen with the team at Oregon’s 10th spring practice on Thursday inside the Moshofsky Center. After redshirting as a freshman in 2022, Williams leaves the Ducks having played zero snaps.

Williams was an Oregon native, playing his high school ball at Jefferson High School in Portland. He came to the Ducks rated as the No. 30 safety in the 2022 class, and No. 363 overall player in the nation.

He is the fourth player to leave the Ducks since the transfer portal opened on Saturday, joining Keith Brown, Jalil Tucker, and Treven Ma’ae.

Several new Ducks join Oregon roster for remainder of spring season

There are a handful of new faces on the Ducks’ roster that joined the team over spring break.

Back in March, we got a good look at which new players, be it transfers or incoming freshmen, would be joining the Oregon Ducks for the spring football season and working with the team leading up to the spring game. We got ideas on positions and found out what numbers everyone would be wearing. It wasn’t the entire 2023 new-player crop, but over half of the new additions were on the ground in Eugene.

After a two-week break for finals and spring break, the Ducks now have more new players with them as they resume practices on Tuesday, growing the roster even more. This won’t be the last time the roster changes, either, though we may be able to feel comfortable with this group of guys until after the spring game. Once May comes around, the transfer portal will open back up, and there are a handful of guys that will surely come and go during that period.

For now, though, here are the newest Ducks to land in Eugene and join the team:

Jersey numbers announced for new Oregon Ducks players this spring

There’s a flock of new Ducks in Eugene. Here’s what jersey numbers they will be wearing this season.

One of the underrated parts of spring football starting around the country is that it gives fans a chance to see what jersey numbers some of their favorite players will be wearing this season.

For incoming players, whether it be high school recruits or players who landed in Eugene via the transfer portal, we now get to see what they will look like in their new jerseys. On top of that, there are a handful of other Oregon players who decided to change numbers over the course of the offseason and will be sporting a new jersey going forward.

With the first Oregon spring practice taking place on Thursday morning, we got a chance to see everyone in their new threads. Here are some of the notable jersey numbers and number changes for new and returning Oregon players.

Projecting Oregon Ducks’ defensive depth chart heading into spring football

Oregon’s defense has the talent to be much-improved in 2023. Here’s our projection for the depth chart once spring ball starts.

We are currently in the midst of one of the slowest periods of the college football calendar. Signing day is behind us, a recruiting dead period is soon to come to a close, and the transfer portal is on hold until the start of May.

Fortunately, spring football is only a few weeks away for the Oregon Ducks.

It’s been announced that the annual Oregon Spring Game will take place on April 29. Dan Lanning said that the team expects to have a couple of practices before spring break starts for the students on March 25, so it’s likely that within the next few weeks, we start to see some players take the field in Eugene.

Earlier in the week, we went through our offensive depth chart projections, looking at who will be working alongside Bo Nix and filling out the remade offensive line. Now we want to go to the other side of the ball and look at the defense.

Who fills out the defensive line alongside Brandon Dorlus and Jordan Burch? Which cornerbacks do we expect to step up and fill out the starting lineup? How many of the incoming transfers will be able to come in and crack the starting lineup?

Welcome to spring football season. Yes, it’s a bit early, but we were too excited not to get started.

Spring football is only a couple of weeks away in Eugene. What type of lineups should we expect offensively for the Ducks?

To start our preview of the spring season, we wanted to kick things off with an early projection of what the two-deep depth chart might look like, beginning with the offense. While QB Bo Nix is returning, the Ducks are dealing with a major overhaul of the offensive line, and there are also some questions to answer at the wide receiver position.
