Updated recruiting rankings after 4-star Oregon WR Kyler Kasper’s reclassification to 2022

With the addition of Kyler Kasper to the Ducks’ 2022 recruiting class, Oregon jumped up a few spots in the national rankings.

The Oregon Ducks got a big recruiting win on Sunday morning when 4-star wide receiver Kyler Kasper announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks, choosing to come to Eugene instead of going across the country to the Tennessee Volunteers or Iowa Hawkeyes.

After the initial commitment news came out, an even bigger shoe dropped, with the word being reported that Kasper was reclassifying to the class of 2022 and choosing to join the Ducks this summer.

This news doesn’t change the magnitude of the win for Oregon, but alters which recruiting class we are celebrating. No longer do fans have to temper that excitement to see the 6-foot-5 Kasper in Autzen Stadium for another year, but they can anticipate seeing him in the green and yellow this fall.

It also changes Oregon’s standing when it comes to the 2022 recruiting rankings a bit as well. The Ducks already held the No. 1 spot in the Pac-12 after the addition of Josh Conerly, but with Kasper reclassifying to 2022, this bumps Oregon up in the national rankings a bit as well, notably putting them ahead of Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes.

Here are the projected rankings after Kasper’s reclassification:

Big-time commitment for the Ducks. Kyler Kasper, a 6-foot-5, 4-star WR is coming to Eugene in 2023.

[jwplayer oXmJcGLx]

The receiver talent in Eugene just got a major boost for the class of 2023.

On Sunday morning, 4-star wide receiver Kyler Kasper announced that he will be committing to the Oregon Ducks and joining the 2023 class of commits. Kasper is a 6-foot-5, 195-pound WR from Gilbert, AZ. He is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 20 WR in the 2023 class, and No. 125 player overall.

Kasper made a number of trips to Eugene over the past several months with his father, Kevin Kasper, who was an 8-year NFL veteran. In the end, Kasper chose the Ducks over teams like the Tennessee Volunteers and Iowa Hawkeyes.

Kasper now joins an Oregon 2023 recruiting class that includes 4-star CB Cole Martin and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e. With the addition of Kasper, the Ducks now have the third-best class in the Pac-12, trailing the Colorado Buffaloes and USC Trojans.

4-star WR Kyle Kasper, a big Oregon target, sets date and time to announce commitment

The Oregon Ducks have been recruiting Kyler Kasper heavily. He will announce his decision on Sunday.

[jwplayer rKN7sz1K]

By the time you go to bed on Sunday night, you will know whether or not the Oregon Ducks were able to add a big-time wide receiver prospect to their 2023 recruiting class or not.

4-star wide receiver Kyler Kasper announced on Saturday that he will be making his commitment on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. Pacific time.

Kasper, who is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 20 WR in the 2023 class, and No. 125 player overall, has visited Eugene multiple times, and currently holds a Crystal Ball projection from 247Sports to land with the Ducks.

At 6-foot-5, 195 pounds, the Gilbert, AZ product would certainly be a field stretcher for Oregon down the road, should he come to Eugene.

Kasper recently listed Oregon inside his top schools, along with Ohio State, Iowa, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Georgia, USC, Arizona State, UCLA, and Miami.

The Oregon Ducks added a nice piece to their 2022 recruiting class on Monday morning, with 3-star wide receiver Cole Prusia announcing that he would be staying home and attending the University of Oregon in the fall.

Prusia, who stands at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, played high school ball in Tualatin.

According to 247Sports, Prusia is ranked as the 6th-best player in the state of Oregon for the 2022 class. He is currently the No. 152 WR in the nation, and the No. 1082 player overall.

As a junior in high school, Prusia was named Oregon Gatorade Player of the Year, hauling in 31 receptions for 554 yards and nine touchdowns with an additional nine pass break-ups and three interceptions on defense.

He will now join the Ducks this year and be the second in-state receiver in this recruiting class, joining Lake Oswego native Justius Lowe.

Early look at 2023 recruiting class rankings in the Pac-12 conference

The Oregon Ducks are currently riding high after a successful 2022 recruiting period. Turning to 2023, though, they’ve got work to do to catch the USC Trojans.

When it comes to the recruiting world of college football, Oregon Duck fans are feeling pretty high and mighty right about now. After landing 5-star OT Josh Conerly Jr. over USC on Friday night, fans in green and yellow are currently enjoying a victory lap that is taking place a lot sooner than expected. With a change in coaching staff over the offseason and an uphill climb to get back into recruiting relevance, Dan Lanning has done wonders over the past couple of months and landed the No. 1 recruiting class in the conference for the 2022 period, and No. 16 in the nation.

Nothing wrong with celebrating that fact in Eugene, but soon it will be time to look ahead to 2023.

In 2023, the USC Trojans deserve a lot of credit.

While most of their work in the 2022 period was done via the transfer portal under new head coach Lincoln Riley, the Trojans have gotten a jump-start on the 2023 class, where they currently dominate in the Pac-12 rankings after landing a trio of 5-star prospects for next year, including one of the top quarterbacks in the nation, Malachi Nelson.

None of this is to say that USC has built an insurmountable lead in the conference rankings. If we’ve learned anything from Lanning and Co. over the past few months, it’s that they take big swings at highly-rated prospects and have shown a propensity to be able to land them.

At the moment, though, they have a lot of ground to make up. How much? You be the judge, according to these Pac-12 recruiting rankings from 247Sports:

5-star Richard Young, No. 2 RB in 2023, class includes Oregon Ducks in top-7

Richard Young is the No. 2 RB in the 2023 class. He will be in Eugene for the Ducks’ spring game on April 23rd.

[jwplayer aKMTk5CG]

The Oregon Ducks are in a good position to potentially land a commitment from 5-star running back Richard Young, who is among the best players at his position in the 2023 class.

Young, who is ranked as the No. 2 RB in the nation, and No. 19 player overall according to 247Sports, announced his top-7 on Sunday afternoon, including the Ducks alongside schools like Texas A&M, Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Florida.

[lawrence-related id=20708]

While Young is obviously impressed with Oregon early in his recruitment, that love for the Ducks has a chance to grow even stronger, as the 5-foot-11, 200-pound Florida product is scheduled to be in Eugene for Oregon’s Spring Game on April 23rd. If he experiences the atmosphere at Autzen Stadium, something Dan Lanning has stressed is of the utmost importance for prospective recruits, we could see the Ducks become one of the front-runners to land this elite recruit.

WATCH: Dan Lanning, coaching staff celebrate Josh Conerly commitment

The celebration says it all. You can see how excited Oregon’s coaching staff was to land Josh Conerly on Friday.

[jwplayer AbRbziH1]

Sometimes it’s nice to know that your team’s head coach has similar reactions to the fan base.

On Friday night after 5-star OT Josh Conerly announced his commitment to the Oregon Ducks, which came as a surprise to many, the Ducks’ fan base went wild with jubilation and celebration. A new video that is circulating on social media shows that the Oregon coaching staff, with Lanning and OL coach Adrian Klemm front and center, also had a passionate celebration after the announcement as well.

[lawrence-related id=22358]

Once Conerly put on the Oregon hat and committed to the Ducks, all of the coaches let it be known how big a deal it was.

For fans, a lot of the excitement was due to the fact that there didn’t seem to be a great chance Conerly would choose the Ducks, with the belief being that he would land with the USC Trojans. Looking at the coaches’ reactions, it seems as if they were finding out for the first time as Conerly announced as well.

Whether Lanning knew before the announcement on TV or not doesn’t matter. What matters is that the Ducks just got the highest-rated OL commit in program history, and you can see how much the coaching staff cares about the victory in the recruiting game.

Hopefully there are many more to come down the road.
