4-star TE/EDGE Collins Archeampong announces visit to Oregon Ducks

4-star TE/EDGE Collins Archeampong, a 6-foot-8 athlete from CA, will be visiting the Oregon Ducks soon.

Not too long ago, 4-star tight end and edge rusher Collins Archeampong announced his top-6 schools in his recruitment, and the Oregon Ducks made the list.

Archeampong is an intriguing athlete, standing at 6-foot-8, 230 pounds, and playing both sides of the ball with Fairmont Prep in California. This past week, Archeampong announced that he would be taking an upcoming recruiting visit to Eugene to see the facilities and meet the new coaching staff.

According to 247Sports, Acheampong is ranked as the No. 16 TE and No. 308 overall player in the nation. It is unclear whether or not he will play on offense or defense in college, but you can guarantee that guys like Dan Lanning, Tosh Lupoi, Tony Tuioti, and Drew Mehringer will all be after him on the visit in Eugene.

Oregon Ducks make strong early impression, jump into ESPN’s top-25 recruiting rankings

Dan Lanning and the Ducks have jumped into the top-25 for ESPN’s 2023 recruiting rankings.

The 2023 recruiting cycle is still young, but Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks have made a nice early impression.

While they only have 3 commitments on the books — 4-star CB Cole Martin, 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey, and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e — the Ducks have been able to jump into the top-25 for ESPN’s 2023 recruiting rankings, sitting at No. 22 on the list. Here is ESPN’s take on Oregon’s current class of commitments:

New head coach Dan Lanning led Georgia’s championship defense last year, but now focuses on trying to build a similar type unit with the Ducks. ESPN 300 CB Martin is a good place to start; he is a player with good feet and upside. They landed two big targets for their passing attack in Dickey and Kyler Kasper, who both check in at more than 6-foot-2 and can win contested matchups.

Of course, ESPN has 4-star WR Kyler Kasper listed as a member of the 2023 class, though he announced after his commitment on Easter that he would be reclassifying and joining the team this summer.

[lawrence-related id=24058]

Regardless, the fact that Oregon is in the top-25 is significant, because it offers a stark contrast from the 247Sports team recruiting rankings, where the Ducks are currently ranked at No. 37 in the nation. It is also worth nothing that according to ESPN, the Ducks are ranked two spots higher than the Miami Hurricanes, but are still the third-ranked team in the Pac-12, trailing USC (9) and Colorado (21).

As we mentioned earlier, there is still a long way to go before the 2023 class is finalized, but Oregon is in a good position early on to make some waves in Lanning’s first full year recruiting in Eugene.

Jahlil Florence lobbies for high school teammate and 4-star RB Roderick Robinson to join him in Eugene

Oregon CB Jahlil Florence is pushing for a Lincoln HS reunion in Eugene, lobbying to Roderick Robinson to commit to Oregon.

It’s normal for high school students to want to go to where the party is, especially when picking a college to spend the next few years at.

For 4-star San Diego running back Roderick Robinson II, the party that a number of his friends are currently at is in Eugene. Robinson recently cut down his recruiting list to 6 schools and included the Oregon Ducks in the mix. He now has former teammate Jahlil Florence lobbying hard for him to come up to Eugene to play alongside him and fellow true freshman, Jalil Tucker, down the road after his final season of high school ball.

Florence, Tucker, and Robinson all played together at Lincoln High School and were considered a dynamic trio together. Florence enrolled early with the Ducks and had an impressive spring showing with one interception in the spring game. While Tucker finishes out his senior year and final high school track season, he is set to come to Eugene this summer and get ready for his freshman season.

It’s clear that Robinson has friends up north in Oregon and ones who are going to push hard for him to join them. He also has a pair of teammates who can answer any questions about the program, and show him how much fun they are having with the Ducks. That may be the inside scoop that Oregon needs to land a player like Robinson.

Top-ranked JUCO WR Malik Benson places Oregon Ducks in top-5, schedules visit to Eugene

The Ducks are the only non-SEC school to be in the running to land top-ranked JUCO WR Malik Benson.

Some of the biggest schools in the nation are all after one junior college player who made waves in his freshman season at Hutchinson Community College last season.

That player is Malik Benson, a 6-foot-1 wide receiver who broke the school’s single-season yardage record and now is looking to make the leap to D1 after another season at Hutch C.C.

Recently Benson released his top-5 and included the Oregon Ducks in the mix, who are the only non-SEC school to be getting a look from the talented offensive weapon. Benson also scheduled a visit to come to Eugene later this month and meet the Oregon coaching staff before making his decision later this summer, according to On3.

Should Benson strongly consider the Ducks, he would join a burgeoning 2023 recruiting class that added 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey earlier this month, and looks to be on the rise in the national recruiting rankings.

Oregon gains ground in recruiting rankings after commitment from 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey

The verbal commitment from 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey boosted Oregon up 11 spots in the recruiting rankings.

On Monday evening, the semi-expected news that 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey was committing to the Oregon Ducks finally came.

Dickey, who stands at 6-foot-2, 210 pounds, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 receiver in the 2023 class, and No. 59 player overall. He has taken multiple visits to Eugene over the past few months, and been predicted by many recruiting experts to land with Oregon for quite a while.

[lawrence-related id=23825]

While his addition to Oregon’s 2023 class is a big one, it still shows how much work needs to be done in this recruiting cycle. Before the verbal commitment from Dickey, the Ducks ranked No. 45 in the national recruiting ranking with commitments from just 4-star CB Cole Martin, and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e. After Monday night’s news, Oregon jumped up to the No. 34 spot in the nation.

After the heroics from Dan Lanning and his staff allowed the Ducks to climb up to the No. 13 spot in the 2022 recruiting rankings, it may seem a bit underwhelming to have only a top-35 class thus far. However, there is still a ton of time for this coaching staff to get after it and land some major prospects this summer and fall.

Breaking: 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey commits to Oregon Ducks

Oregon’s 2023 recruiting class is taking shape. 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey — the No. 8 WR in 2023 — is going to be a Duck.

[jwplayer 6Go4Ut5x]

A blue-chip player has joined the Oregon Ducks 2023 recruiting class.

On Monday evening, 4-star wide receiver Jurrion Dickey announced that he will be committing to the Ducks and heading to Eugene to play his college ball. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound athlete is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 8 WR in the 2023 class, and the No. 59 player overall.

Just last week, Dickey released a top-5 that included Oregon, UCLA, USC, Washington, and Penn State. However, it has been felt that he was strongly leaning towards the Ducks for some time now, with multiple Crystal Ball predictions on 247Sports landing him at Oregon.

The Ducks don’t have a loaded incoming class just yet, but they are still early in the cycle. So far in the 2023 class, Oregon has commitments from 4-star DB Cole Martin, and 3-star DL Tevita Pome’e. With the addition of Dickey, Oregon now jumps up to No. 35 in the national recruiting rankings, just behind Alabama and Arizona.

Elite 4-star S Kodi DeCambra places Oregon Ducks in his top-6

The Ducks are considered heavy favorites to land 4-star Kodi DeCambra, who narrowed his list to 6 on Saturday.

If you were to look at the magic 8-ball, the Oregon Ducks are currently heavy favorites to land a commitment from 4-star safety Kodi DeCambra, who is ranked as the No. 17 safety and No. 226 overall player in the 2023 class.

DeCambra, who has taken multiple visits to Oregon this past year, cut his recruiting list down to six on Saturday, including the Ducks among others on the west coast.

We spoke to DeCambra earlier this year after one of his visits to Eugene, where he said that he had built a nice relationship with Dan Lanning and was impressed with the culture of the Ducks.

We will see how his recruitment continues down the road, but Oregon fans have to feel pretty confident that this blue-chip safety will eventually be coming to Eugene.

Oregon Ducks land commitment from 3-star 2022 DB Zachery Grisham

The Oregon Ducks got an in-state commitment from DB Zachery Grisham, a 3-star player from Central Catholic.

[jwplayer 6Go4Ut5x]

The Oregon Ducks picked up an in-state commitment in the 2022 recruiting class on Friday afternoon, with Central Catholic’s Zachery Grisham announcing that he will be coming down to Eugene this fall.

Grisham, who is a 3-star DB from the Portland area, is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 31 player in the state of Oregon, and the No. 210 athlete in the 2022 class.

At 6-foot-0, 190-pounds, Grisham will add some depth to a secondary that is somewhat depleted after losing guys like Verone McKinley and Mykael Wright this offseason to the NFL draft. On top of that, CB DJ James transferred to Florida State after the 2021 season as well.

Oregon lands in top-5 for WR Jurrion Dickey after becoming favorites for commitment

The Oregon Ducks picked up another prediction to land 4-star WR Jurrion Dickey, who announced his top 5 on Tuesday.

Just over a month ago, the Oregon Ducks were given a leg up on the competition when it came to predicting the eventual landing place for four-star athlete Jurrion Dickey, a native of Palo Alto, California.

According to the 247Sports crystal ball, Dickey was likely to pick the Ducks, whom the sixth-ranked athlete in the nation has visited several times. At the time, there was only one prediction for Dickey’s commitment, but on Tuesday afternoon, Oregon picked up a second prediction to land the blue-chip player.

In the 2023 class, Dickey is ranked as the No. 59 overall player. He is a jack of all trades in high school, but likely will play at the wide receiver position at the next level. Earlier this week, he released his top-5 recruiting destinations, keeping Oregon strongly in the mix.

5-star Richard Young, No. 2 RB in 2023 class, announces upcoming visit to Eugene

5-star RB Richard Young didn’t make it to Eugene for the spring game, but he’s coming to see the Ducks this weekend.

We all thought that the Oregon Ducks were going to play host to 5-star running back Richard Young over the past weekend at the spring game. Despite Young announcing that he would be here for the scrimmage a couple of months ago, things didn’t quite work out, leading to the elite prospect delaying his visit a week.

However, Young is still coming to check out the Ducks, announcing recently that he would be in Eugene this coming week to check out the facilities and meet the coaches. As the No. 2 ranked RB in the 2023 class, and No. 19 player overall, this is a huge visit for the Ducks, who will look to add a blue-chip player to their 2023 haul of players.
