Top-5 2024 WR Ryan Pellum lists Ducks among target schools

4-star WR Ryan Pellum is rated as the No. 48 overall player in 2024, and No. 5 WR in the class.

The recruiting train is rolling into the new year with a full head of steam for the Oregon Ducks, this time with the news that 4-star WR Ryan Pellum, one of the best receivers in the 2024 class, is high on the Ducks as his recruitment narrows down.

On Saturday, Pellum released his top 10 schools, with Oregon in the mix alongside schools like Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Michigan. Pellum is rated by 247Sports as the No. 5 WR in the 2024 class, and No. 50 overall player in the nation.

According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Ducks currently lead in Pellum’s recruitment, holding a 20% chance to land him. After the success that Junior Adams has had in bringing elite WRs to Oregon — the Ducks got 5-star Jurrion Dickey, 4-star Ashton Cozart, 4-star Kyler Kasper, and 4-star Justius Lowe along with a handful of transfers at the WR position — it doesn’t come as a major surprise to see Oregon in the mix to land one of the top pass-catchers in next year’s recruiting class as well.

Over the coming months, we’ll see how the recruitment plays out for Pellum.

5-star Oregon target Nyckoles Harbor is turning heads at Under Armour All-American Game

5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor is turning heads at the UA All-American game. Harbor will be taking a visit to Eugene at the end of January.

A new 5-star prospect has emerged for Oregon Duck fans to turn their eyes towards, with jumbo-athlete Nyckoles Harbor recently announcing that he will be taking a visit to Eugene in the coming month ahead of his official commitment later this year.

Harbor is one of the top remaining uncommitted players in the 2023 class, standing at 6-foot-5, 225 pounds and ranking as the No. 16 overall player in the class. He has made waves throughout the past year with viral videos of his track speed, where he has clocked a 10.28 100-meter dash at that size. He plays both tight end and defensive end in high school but is hoping to play on the offensive side of the ball at the next level.

This past week at the Under Armour All-American Game, Harbor has once again turned heads going through drills both as a DE and pass-catcher, while also making a case as one of the fastest players in attendance. Here are some of the best videos and social media reactions from his performance thus far:

Introducing the 5-star recruits in the class of 2024

A look at who the 5-star prospects are in the 2024 recruiting class as we enter the new year.

While the 2023 recruiting cycle won’t officially come to a close until February, the Oregon Ducks have largely put a stamp on their 2023 class, signing a total of 30 prospects this past week in what was one of the most eventful signing days in school history.

With a handful of prospects still on the board who could end up signing with the Ducks in the coming months, we will certainly keep an eye on things in the near future. However, with much of the action behind us, we wanted to take this opportunity to look ahead to the 2024 class and see who is available, and what could be in store.

Let’s take a look at the 5-star prospects on the board. According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, there are currently 27 players who are rated as 5-star prospects, many of whom are uncommitted at this point.

After the recent doings of the Ducks, signing a pair of 5-stars on Wednesday, there’s a good chance that a couple of these guys commit to Oregon down the road in the 2024 class as well.

Here are your 5-stars in 2024 in descending order by 247Sports composite national ranking:

Report: 5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor locks in official visit to Eugene

Dan Lanning and the Ducks aren’t done in the 2023 recruiting cycle.

We knew that the Oregon Ducks’ 2023 recruiting class had a chance to get better over the coming couple of months as we head into the late signing day, but we didn’t quite know how much better it could get.

Guys like 4-star Ashton Porter, 4-star Jamari Johnson, and 4-star CB Rodrick Pleasant are all yet to commit, and we know that they are all at least considering the Ducks to varying degrees. There is also 5-star TE Duce Robinson who is expected to take a visit to Eugene in January as well.

Now we can reportedly add another big-time target to Oregon’s winter recruiting list, with a report from Rivals saying that 5-star ATH Nyckoles Harbor has locked in an official visit to Eugene.

Harbors is the No. 1 ATH in the 2023 class, and No. 16 player overall. He has yet to commit, and has one Crystal Ball prediction on 247Sports to go to South Carolina from back in August. At 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, Harbor is an elite athlete, and he has made waves this past year with videos of his track speed, running a 10.28 in the 100 meters in high school.

Projected to play either TE or DE in college, it’s clear that Harbors would be a huge get for Dan Lanning and the Ducks should they be able to get him on campus and ultimately land him, giving them a third 5-star in the 2023 class.

Who are the top-rated recruiters in the Pac-12 for 2023 cycle?

We talk a lot about top-ranked recruits in college football, but rarely about top-ranked recruiters. Let’s change that.

A major allotment of time in college football is spent on recruiting, especially in the offseason. While teams work hard to break down film and build relationships with players, attempting to get them to join their teams, fans spend a vast amount of time diving deep into the ranks of high school prospects, imagining what life could be like if some of those 5-star and 4-star prospects chose to move to their city and play football.

I’d say a majority of fans’ time spent thinking about recruiting is directed toward the players, and not nearly enough time is spent thinking about the actual recruiters.

We wanted to change that.

While we’ve dove into the top players in the class, and where the top teams stand in the national rankings, today we wanted to look at the top recruiters; the guys who are the best at selling their school and building the relationships necessary to create winning football programs and develop upcoming talent.

The 2023 recruiting cycle is not done yet, of course. We just watched the early signing period come and go, where the Oregon Ducks were among the most entertaining teams in the nation, flipping three players and signing a pair of 5-stars. There are likely to be more commitments down the road in the late signing period as well. How did the Ducks find such success? It may be because they have elite recruiters on the staff.

Here are the Pac-12 recruiter rankings after the early 2023 signing period:

Elite 2024 TE Christian Bentancur lists Oregon as a finalist in recruitment

One of the top tight ends in the 2024 class has the Ducks among his finalists in the latest recruiting cut-down.

Tight End has been an important position for the Oregon Ducks over the past few years, and it looks like new TE coach Drew Mehringer is doing a great job of keeping the level of play up over the past 12 months. He’s also keeping the level of recruiting up as well.

In the 2023 class, the Ducks signed TE Kenyon Sadiq, the No. 1 ranked player in the state of Idaho, and they are also in good position to potentially flip TE Jamari Johnson from Louisville, while 5-star TE Duce Robinson, the No. 1 TE in the nation, is considering a visit to Eugene in the coming month.

Now, if you look ahead to 2024, the Ducks are once again in a great position to add to the position, landing in the top 3 for 4-star TE Christian Bentancur. As a 6-foot-5, 240-pound pass-catcher, Bentancur is ranked as the No. 4 TE in the 2024 class, and No. 102 overall player in the nation.

We will see in the coming months how the Ducks are able to close out his recruitment.

2024 4-star QB Demond Williams announces commitment date, lists Ducks as finalist

2024 4-star QB Demond Williams will be announcing his commitment in the coming days, with the Ducks among his final schools.

The subject of quarterback recruiting has been a familiar topic of conversation lately for Oregon Duck fans.

With the return of Bo Nix for 2023, the Ducks went out and got 4-star QB Austin Novosad this past week, flipping him from the Baylor Bears. Now, another QB will soon be coming off the board, this time in 2024 4-star QB Demond Williams.

Earlier this week, Williams, the No. 14 QB and No. 182 overall player in the 2024 class, announced that he would be making his commitment on December 30, choosing between the Oregon Ducks, Ole Miss Rebels, Michigan State Spartans, and several others.

Williams plays at Basha High School in Chandler, Arizona, where he was teammates with Oregon CB Cole Martin this past season. He is currently projected to Ole Miss.

Intriguing Jackson State WR with ties to Oregon enters transfer portal

Former Jackson State WR with strong ties to the Ducks has entered the transfer portal.

The Oregon Ducks already grabbed a readymade wide receiver from the transfer portal this offseason, but that doesn’t mean they’re done adding players to that position on the roster.

If they do wish to add another pass-catcher to the mix, an intriguing option just became available, with former Jackson State wide receiver Kevin Coleman entering the transfer portal.

Coleman, a former 4-star recruit in the 2022 cycle, was heavily pursued by Oregon and had the Ducks in his final 5 schools and took an official visit to Eugene last November before making a surprise commitment to Jackson State, joining Deion Sanders. Now that Sanders has moved on to Colorado, Coleman is another one of the many former Tigers’ players who is looking for a new school.

Might Dan Lanning and the Ducks choose to pursue Coleman in the portal, trying to convince him to join Alabama WR Traeshon Holden in his transfer to Eugene?

It’s certainly an option.

2024 5-star DL David Stone has Oregon among top schools

The momentum for Oregon is continuing on to the 2024 class, with 5-star DL David Stone in the mix.

The Oregon Ducks are coming off of one of the most impressive signing days in school history, and they’ve already gotten a jump start on the 2024 recruiting cycle, landing a commitment from 4-star WR Jordan Anderson on Thursday morning.

The Ducks also got some good news in the 2024 class on Friday, with 5-star defensive lineman David Stone narrowing his recruitment down to 10 schools, with Oregon in the mix.

Stone is one of the premier players in the 2024 class, ranked by 247Sports as the No. 4 overall player and No. 2 DL in the nation. He took a visit to Eugene earlier this year and will likely find his way out west again in the future as he continues his recruiting process.

5 recruits for Oregon fans to keep an eye on as Ducks head into 2023

The Ducks signed 30 players this week. There’s a chance they could sign a few more before the 2023 recruiting cycle is over.

The Oregon Ducks put the finishing touches on the bulk of their 2023 recruiting class on Thursday night, signing a total of 27 players that will be joining the team, many of whom will come in the spring.

While for the most part, this is the final class that we can expect, there is a good chance that Dan Lanning and his staff are able to add a few more players to the roster down the stretch from the prep ranks.

There are some players who have predictions floating out there to land with Oregon and others who have contemplated taking a visit to Eugene down the stretch. Here’s a look at some recruits that Duck fans should keep an eye on over the next month.
