Throughout the college football season, it’s always fun to see which weekends end up being the biggest attractions for potential top-end high school prospects who are going on recruiting visits to check out their potential future homes.
During the offseason, the recruiting ramps up, though.
While there is no signing day, and very little transfer portal activity in the month of June, this is the time when official visits become prevalent. Some of the best recruits in the nation get out and make their rounds across the country to top schools. What makes these visits more important than most of the visits we see throughout the season is that they fall under the category of “official” visits rather than “unofficial” visits. In layman’s terms, that means that a school fronts all of the costs for the visit — travel, room and board, food, etc. — while those expenses fall on an athlete and his family for an unofficial visit. In other words, it allows schools to pull out all of the stops and really wine and dine a player, so to speak.
At the moment, a high school athlete only gets five official visits to go on, so they use them for schools they are seriously considered often times.
Over the past couple of weeks, a long list of official visits has been announced for some of the top players in the 2024 class. Here is an updated list of players who will be taking OV’s to Eugene in the coming month.
