2024 wide receiver Braylon Burnside recaps Tennessee visit

Four-star wide receiver Braylon Burnside recaps his visit to Tennessee for the Orange & White Game.

Four-star wide receiver Braylon Burnside unofficially visited Tennessee on April 15 for the Orange & White Game.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound wide receiver is from Starkville High School in Starkville, Mississippi.

Burnside discussed visiting Tennessee and updated his recruitment with Vols Wire.

“It was definitely a great time being there for the weekend,” Burnside said. “I plan on coming back to Knoxville. Tennessee has a great program. There are so many fans that just come up and tell you to come to Tennessee.”

Burnside does not currently hold an offer from Tennessee, but is building a relationship with wide receivers coach Kelsey Pope.

“I think me and coach Pope are building a relationship,” he said. “He’s been talking to me for some time and it’s building more and more.”

Burnside is the No. 204 overall prospect and No. 37 wide receiver in the class of 2024. He ranks as the No. 8 player and No. 2 wide receiver in Mississippi, according to the On3 Sports industry rankings.

He earned first-team All-State honors last season. Burnside finished his junior season with 1,158 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

Tennessee’s recent success with wide receivers has Burnside’s attention. The 2024 prospect believes his skillset would translate well into Josh Heupel’s offense.

“I’m not the fastest guy, but my body frame in Tennessee’s offense would fit,” Burnside said.

Burnside holds offers from multiple Power Five programs. He plans to make a commitment decision during his senior season.

“I’m winding it down along the months,” Burnside said. “Me and my mom have been talking, and I’m going to decide in the season where I want to take my talent to the next level.”

Jaylen Mosley recaps Orange & White Game visit, includes Vols in top three

2025 safety Jaylen Mosley recaps Orange & White Game visit and includes Tennessee in his top three.

Four-star safety Jaylen Mosley unofficially visited Tennessee April 15 for the Orange & White Game.

The 6-foot, 185-pound safety is from Jackson Christian High School in Jackson, Tennessee.

Mosley discussed visiting Tennessee and updated his recruitment with Vols Wire.

“My biggest takeaway was definitely how involved the coaches were with everything and how they interacted with us,” Mosley said. “They made sure we were okay and they could talk to me about other things outside of football.”

58,473 were in attendance for the Orange & White Game at Neyland Stadium.

“Something that stands out about Tennessee compared to other programs is the fans,” Mosley said. “The fans are amazing, even when I went to the bathroom there were people telling me all about Tennessee, talking to me and asking for autographs.”

The Vols have emerged as a leader in Mosley’s recruitment.

“Tennessee is definitely top three in my recruitment right now,” he said.

Defensive coordinator Tim Banks and analyst Danny O’Rourke have made strong impressions on Mosley.

“My relationship with the Vols’ staff is great and it’s getting better,” Mosley said. “Those are the two people who stay in contact with me. Even after I left, coach Banks texted me letting me know how he enjoyed me and things like that.”

Mosley is the No. 150 overall prospect and No. 11 safety in the class of 2025. He ranks as the No. 4 player and No. 1 safety in Tennessee, according to On3.

During the last two seasons, Mosley played multiple positions on offense and defense. The 2025 prospect has not decided where he will play at the next level, but is ready to contribute wherever needed.

“I see myself playing any position,” he said. “I don’t really care about where I play. I just want to play football in college, so wherever they see me best that’s where I’m playing.”

As a 2025 prospect, Mosley’s recruitment is still early in the process. Mosley plans to enjoy his recruitment process before making a decision.

“Right now I’m taking it slow,” he said. “Just trying to see everything I can and experiencing all I can before I make a decision as to where I’m spending three to four years at.”

Tennessee looks to replace starting quarterback Hendon Hooker in 2023.

Redshirt senior Joe Milton III, early enrollee freshman Nico Iamaleava Jr. and redshirt junior Gaston Moore appeared in the Orange & White Game as quarterbacks for the Vols.

Third-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel discussed the Vols’ quarterback play after the game.

“For the quarterbacks today, I thought there was a lot of game management that was really good,” Heupel said. “You know, all in all, their eyes and decision making were pretty sound. There are some things accuracy wise that we have to continue to get better at. There are some things in situational football that you can’t do that they’ll learn from.

“That group has been really good with the way they compete and help each other in the meeting room, out on the grass. There’s a lot of development that’s left inside of that room. I love what they’ve done this spring, but we’ve got to continue to grow. That’s the reality of where you’re at when you end spring ball. You have a long way to go before you’re ready to play a football game. We have time; we’re going to be urgent in the way that we prepare. That starts when we get rolling next week.”

“A lot of fun seeing a lot of our guys compete today,” third-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said after the game. “We obviously held some guys out that would’ve had an opportunity to go if it was during the course of the season. It was a great opportunity to see a lot of our young guys show up in front of a crowd like this for the first time and get a chance to see what it’s like inside of Neyland Stadium and the landscape of college football.

“There are a ton of things we’re going to learn from, but I’m really proud of the effort and energy they showed today and throughout the course of spring ball. These guys have been very intentional the way that they’ve worked since January. They have great comaraderie energy and connection. They care about one another. They compete extremely hard with each other, and that’s showing during 14 days of spring ball that we’ve had up to this point.”

Everything Heupel said after the Orange & White Game is listed below from a transcript provided by the University of Tennessee.

Nico Iamaleava discusses first performance at Neyland Stadium

Freshman quarterback Nico Iamaleava Jr. discusses first performance at Neyland Stadium in the Orange & White Game.

Freshman early enrollee quarterback Nico Iamaleava Jr. took part in his first Orange & White Game on Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

He completed 8-of-16 passing attempts for 112 yards.

Iamaleava Jr. met with media following the White’s 17-14 victory against the Orange team.

“I was not nervous,” he said. “At the end of the day, it’s just football. You go out there, play and have fun. It was because I messed up that first play in spring practice this week that I was like, ‘I’m not messing this play up again.’

“I played OK. I thought we could have scored more when we got to the red zone and finished drives off. We are working. We will get to that point where it is green when we get down in the red zone. I thought, overall as an offense, we did OK.”

Tennessee concluded spring practices with its annual Orange & White Game Saturday at Neyland Stadium.

The White defeated the Orange, 17-14.

Following the contest, third-year Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel met with media.

“What a beautiful day inside Neyland Stadium for the future of our program,” Heupel said. “Obviously, what we were doing on the field with a lot of things going on this weekend, beautiful day, over 58,000 people showing up here on Rocky Top. Unbelievable turnout from our fan base, absolute best in the country. I thank them for the energy they created outside the stadium with everything we had going on this week. That was hugely important. To our VFLs that showed up, I think we had over 300 former players that were here this week. A great weekend to celebrate what they have done, what they have meant to our program and do mean to our program, and celebrate what’s going on here currently and what we’re going to continue to build together with them. Just a great weekend.

“A lot of fun seeing a lot of our guys compete today. We obviously held some guys out that would’ve had an opportunity to go if it was during the course of the season.
