WWE Raw results: Edge learns The Judgment Day isn’t done with him yet

The old adage about try, try again will be in full effect tonight on WWE Raw in Ottawa.

As you may have heard, Sami Zayn did not write the storybook ending to his personal saga at Elimination Chamber in front of his hometown fans in Montreal this weekend. But it’s possible that a Canadian could still end up sporting some gold before WWE heads back to the U.S.

That’s because Edge has answered the open challenge of Austin Theory for the United States Championship. Both men should feel pretty good coming off big victories on Saturday night. But Theory has a way of coming out on top even when things go against him, and Edge can’t be sure he’s left The Judgment Day completely behind him. That makes it look like uphill sledding for the Rated R Superstar.

Speaking of uphill sledding, Mustafa Ali has been doing plenty of that in recent weeks. While he’s more than willing to do whatever it takes to earn more opportunities, he’s about had it with Dolph Ziggler for … well, not having the same attitude, basically. They’ll try to settle their differences in the ring in Ottawa.

And a late addition to tonight’s card should also have plenty of WrestleMania implications as Seth Rollins battles The Miz. Rollins saw his Elimination Chamber moment ruined by Logan Paul, who also has quite a history with the A-Lister. It will be interesting to see if and how that might come into play tonight.

WWE Crown Jewel preview: When and where it’s going down, what to expect

Prepare yourself for WWE Crown Jewel 2022 with our full preview, including the start time, card and predictions for every match.

It’s fight week in WWE, and if you feel like that’s a slightly strange way to phrase things heading into WWE Crown Jewel, that’s only because that’s sort of the way the company is promoting its latest Saudi Arabia show.

Take a look at the image above to see what we mean. The Logan Paul vs. Roman Reigns match that will headline the card is being presented a bit more like a heavyweight boxing match than a traditional WWE wrestling match. Perhaps that should come as no surprise since social media superstar Paul has dabbled in the sweet science before (and his brother Jake even more so).

The “puncher’s chance” concept is also right at the heart of how Paul is being pushed as posing even the slightest threat to the most dominant WWE champion in years. It’s a smart move on the part of the creative team, though whether it will pull in people who wouldn’t otherwise watch Crown Jewel remains to be seen.

Even though Vince McMahon has been gone for months, it feels like he would enjoy the rest of the Crown Jewel card, seeing as it has multiple bouts pitting two large human beings against each other, including Drew McIntyre vs. Karrion Kross, Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley and Braun Strowman vs Omos.

There’s also a bout that feels like it could be the show-stealer as Bianca Belair puts her Raw Women’s Championship on the line against Bayley in a Last Woman Standing match. And The Usos will tempt fate and history by defending their undisputed tag team titles as they approach the longest reign of all time.

If you’re looking forward to Crown Jewel, the most important thing to remember is that because its being held in Saudi Arabia, the time difference means this is a daytime event for fans in North America, beginning at lunch time in the east and at morning coffee time in the west.

WWE Money in the Bank live results: Who will claim the briefcases in Vegas?

There aren’t too many sure wagers in Las Vegas, but some of the best bets for WWE gold await the competitors in the namesake matches at Money in the Bank tonight. As WWE itself has repeatedly pointed out, the contracts in the briefcases have nearly guaranteed the winners they will be champions sometime in the next year: Men’s winners have an 85% cash-in success rate, while the women’s winners have been perfect so far.

That could be bad news for Roman Reigns, who has looked untouchable while holding the WWE Championship and Universal Championship. With a Last Man Standing Match against Brock Lesnar later this month at SummerSlam, the men’s briefcase winner will be licking their chops for a chance to catch him (or Brock) after a grueling affair. Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Sheamus, Omos, Riddle, Sami Zayn and Madcap Moss will all like their chances much better if they can climb the ladder and grab the case to make that a reality.

In the women’s division, the Ladder Match winner may have a different choice of cash-in options by the end of the night, with both Ronda Rousey and Bianca Belair putting their titles on the line. Becky Lynch will attempt to keep writing her own big comeback story, but Asuka, Alexa Bliss, Liv Morgan, Lacey Evans, Raquel Rodriguez and Shotzi will all have their say in how this chapter plays out.

With just four championship matches and the two Ladder Matches, Money in the Bank should be a tightly paced affair. As gimmick matches go, the Money in the Bank Ladder Match has reached the point where it has stood the test of time. It’s long since graduated from a bout at other events to headlining status in its own right, and the latest Money in the Bank premium live event is set for Fourth of July weekend in Las Vegas.

WWE initially had thoughts of holding the show in Allegiant Stadium, the football venue where the Las Vegas Raiders play, hoping it would prove attractive enough to sell 30,000+ tickets. But several factors, including UFC holding a pay-per-view card on the same night in Vegas, caused the company to reconsider, moving it to the smaller MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Does that mean the event itself is less significant? That depends on one’s point of view. On one hand, Roman Reigns, the man with the two most important men’s titles, is not on the card. Nor is Cody Rhodes, probably the hottest performer in WWE the last few months, as he is out long term recovering from surgery.

The counter-argument is that Money in the Bank has no filler; its six matches include four title bouts and the namesake ladder matches for the men and women. The undisputed tag team titles are on the line, as are both women’s singles titles, and the United States Championship. Most other significant, healthy superstars are vying for one of the briefcases.

So while WWE might be saving some of its best stuff this summer for SummerSlam, Money in the Bank is shaping up to be a night that could definitely be a pleasant upside surprise. Scroll down to get details on everything you need to know before watching this holiday weekend.

WWE fans in the Chicago area, get ready to go on lockdown. Hopefully the fun kind, in this case, as the Allstate Arena prepares to host Hell in a Cell on Sunday, June 5.

Similar to Money in the Bank, Hell in a Cell has evolved over the years into an entire event themed around its namesake gimmick match. But that’s where the similarities end; while MITB is now a major show with ramifications that echo far down the road, HIAC feels like something of an afterthought. To wit, this year’s card features only two title matches and just one appearance by the Cell itself.

That said, WWE premium live events that look forgettable on paper sometimes surprise to the upside thanks to the hard work of the talent, and the potential for that in 2022 begins with Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins inside Hell in a Cell. WWE has consistently positioned Rhodes as a top star since his return, and Rollins is as reliable a main event performer as the company has.

The show will also pay off the most entertaining subplot on WWE programming since WrestleMania when Kevin Owens faces Ezekiel. Owens is a gem both in the ring and on the microphone, but he has taken his character to the next level with his paranoia-fueled disbelief over the true identity of Ezekiel. If you needed proof that excellent pro wrestling storytelling can happen at any part of the card, this is it.

It’s possible that WWE could still add a match or two during SmackDown this week, in which case we’ll update our preview with the latest. In the meantime, read on to get up to speed on everything you need to know for Hell in a Cell 2022.

To be the man, you’ve got to beat the man … to get a chance to beat the man. Ahem. We’re not particularly fond of the “Championship Contender’s Match” that’s become so popular as of late, but we’re willing to give the one that’s been promoted for tonight’s episode of WWE Raw from Des Moines the benefit of the doubt.

At least with Riddle and Shinsuke Nakamura, they’re a brand new tag team forced together because both their regular partners are on the shelf, and they need to prove themselves as a credible threat to the undisputed tag team champs, The Usos. We just wish there was another way for them to prove it than by beating the Usos.

Also tonight, Bobby Lashley will sign a contract to face both Omos and MVP at Hell in a Cell, assuming they both sign as well. Bianca Belair will get the measure of one of her two HIAC challengers, Asuka, though Becky Lynch will undoubtedly be an interested observer. And Cody Rhodes should have something to interesting to say after he was attacked mid-match by Seth Rollins last week.

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week ahead.

WWE Raw preview – Monday, May 30, Wells Fargo Arena, Des Moines, IA

Cody Rhodes was just trying to have a normal, competitive match with The Miz when it was unceremoniously ended thanks to an ambush by Seth “Freakin'” Rollins. He’s not going to let that go without addressing it, which he’ll do this week on Raw. When? The Cody Clock will probably let us know on Monday night.

There’s also a contract signing set to take place. Bobby Lashley lost his match with MVP a week ago, meaning his former manager got to pick the stipulation for a third bout with Omos at Hell in a Cell. MVP chose a Handicap Match, so all three men will have to sign on the dotted line this week.

Also on tap for Raw:

AEW Dynamite preview – Wednesday, June 1, Kia Forum, Los Angeles

Double or Nothing was a entertaining but lengthy affair, so it’s good that AEW has some time to catch its breath … but not too long, as the company is set for the first live wrestling event at the Kia Forum since 2015. So far, just one match has been confirmed for L.A., but it’s a big one: Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Christian Cage (who still hasn’t turned heel) will join forces with The Hardys in a 10-man tag team match against the Undisputed Elite (Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, Bobby Fish and Young Bucks).

It would be a surprise if we didn’t hear from new AEW World Champion CM Punk, who needs his first challenger. And we may or may not hear from MJF because … well, you know.

WWE SmackDown preview – Friday, June 3, The Schottenstein Center, Columbus, OH

WWE hasn’t confirmed any matches yet for SmackDown in Columbus, but the venue has been advertising Drew McIntyre, Ronda Rousey, the New Day and The Usos. All of them make sense to appear.

On top of that, The Schottenstein Center is also saying AJ Styles will face The Miz, though that could be a dark match, for sure.

AEW Rampage preview – Friday, June 3, Toyota Arena, Ontario, CA

Last but not least (unless Rampage gets moved up again for the NHL playoffs, in which case SmackDown will air last), Rampage rolls into Ontario (not the Canadian one) to close out the week in televised Big 2 wrestling. Toyota Arena is promoting this as a homecoming for the Young Bucks, so they should be involved in some capacity.

As well, at Double or Nothing, Scorpio Sky promised Dante Martin he could have a shot at the TNT Championship, and given Rampage is on TNT, this feels like the proper place for that bout. Expect it to be officially confirmed during Dynamite.

WWE Raw results: Lashley challenges Omos, Cody vs. Miz

Even though every episode of WWE Raw has the potential to be unpredictable, we’re guessing tonight’s show from Evansville will be … um, somewhat less talked about than last week’s show.

But hey, we’re not here to talk about what won’t happen, but rather what WWE says will take place. Tonight, the previews suggest we’ll see Bobby Lashley challenging Omos to something. What, exactly? Who knows? They’ve already wrestled twice and had an arm wrestling contest. Maybe it’ll be ping pong, though hopefully not for Lashley’s sake because Omos has been practicing.

Cody Rhodes, a.k.a. the man who warrants his own countdown timer, will take on a Superstar who already has tried to corner the market on being must-see TV on Monday nights, The Miz. And Becky Lynch will address her loss to Asuka, the one that meant she isn’t the No. 1 contender for the championship held by Bianca Belair. Thems the breaks.

Opening Bell: AEW hits Vegas, Cody Rhodes in the spotlight on Raw

Welcome to the Opening Bell, where we round up what’s been announced for WWE (Raw and SmackDown) and AEW (Dynamite and Rampage) programming for the week ahead.

WWE Raw preview – Ford Center, Evansville, IN

There’s a big confrontation being advertised for this week’s Raw, and by that we mean large in terms of how it’s being positioned and the physical size of the men involved. Bobby Lashley, who managed to beat Omos in a Steel Cage match even though he was thrown through the cage, has another challenge for the Nigerian Giant that he’ll apparently lay out Monday night.

And Cody Rhodes, who is increasingly being shown off as one of WWE’s biggest fan favorites, will be in action as well, taking on The Miz. But the real question is whether there will be another “Countdown to Cody” timer.

AEW Dynamite preview – Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas

There could be worse things than being in Las Vegas all week for a full week of AEW leading up to Double or Nothing on Sunday night. The slate begins with Dynamite on Wednesday, and even with the pay-per-view just days away, the card is pretty loaded. It’s headlined by a Steel Cage match between Wardlow and Shawn Spears, which the big man must win if he wants to get his hands on MJF (spoiler: he does want that, very much).

From a pure in-ring action standpoint, the bout of the night could (should be?) the Jungle Boy vs. Swerve Strickland vs. Ricky Starks three-way dance. Hard to imagine that one won’t be a lot of fun.

AEW Rampage preview – Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas

When will AEW Rampage air this week? It’s an open question as of the time of this post, due to the uncertainty of the NBA and NHL playoff schedules and what time games might air on TNT. It’s possible it could be headed for the 5:30 p.m. ET/2:30 p.m. PT time slot that got the show its lowest ratings ever a few weeks ago.

Be that as it may, Rampage is set to be live this week as part of the full Las Vegas AEW experience, and we’ll update with more on the matches as they are announced.

WWE SmackDown preview – Simmons Bank Arena, North Little Rock, AR

Though it feels like the New Day has been feuding forever with the group now officially know as the Brawling Brutes, it was only this past week that Xavier Woods said out loud what we all knew: his side is outnumbered.

That being the case, he and Kofi Kingston are recruiting a mystery partner to their cause for a six-man tag team match this Friday. Who will it be, and can Woods pull off the Backwoods in a bout with so many people in it? We’ll find out on SmackDown.

WWE Raw live results: Lashley-Omos Steel Cage match on tap for Norfolk

As Big E might say, get ready for two big, meaty men slapping meat tonight on WWE Raw from Norfolk, Virginia … except in this case, said meaty men will be doing the slapping inside a steel cage. Bobby Lashley put out the challenge, and Omos seemed only too happy to oblige.

We’re also expecting more on the men’s tag team title situation as the unification bout between RK-Bro and The Usos is (finally) later this week on SmackDown. But after Riddle punctuated the finalizing of the match with a knee to the face of Roman Reigns, it would be silly to think it wouldn’t be addressed somehow tonight.
