Saints linked to a polarizing quarterback prospect in latest 2025 mock draft

The New Orleans Saints would be lucky to walk out of the 2025 NFL draft with this class, including a polarizing quarterback talent.

The New Orleans Saints are seemingly finally approaching rebuild mode following the 2024 season, which has many fans already preparing for the NFL draft with a couple of games left on the schedule.

There are plenty of different directions that the Saints could go and their decision may be solely based around how the board falls. Pro Football Focus‘ Gordon McGuinness recently took a look at a great scenario for New Orleans in his latest 2025 three-round mock draft.

With the No. 10 overall selection, he gave the Saints star Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders. Securing Sanders at any spot of the draft would be a massive win. He could fight for the starting spot from the first day and obviously has a higher ceiling in the future.

Navigating the next few years of the salary cap would be a lot easier playing a quarterback on a rookie deal after Derek Carr leaves.

After securing Sanders in the first round, New Orleans took Tennessee Volunteers defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott in the second round of this mock.

Norman-Lott is a balanced defensive line prospect with a high ceiling both against the run and the pass. With Bryan Bresee coming into his own, now may be the time to bring in another young athlete with a high ceiling.

This mock draft closed with the Saints taking Alabama Crimson Tide offensive guard Tyler Booker in the third round. New Orleans needs all of the offensive line help they can get right now. Adding another strong run blocker on the inside would be icing on the cake for a very solid draft class.

Omarr Norman-Lott suspended for part of UTSA game

Omarr Norman-Lott will be suspended for part of Tennessee’s game versus UTSA.

Junior defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott will be suspended for the first-half of Tennessee’s contest versus UTSA on Saturday (4 p.m. EDT, SEC Network).

His suspension comes after an altercation in Tennessee’s 29-16 loss at Florida in Week 3.

The Southeastern Conference released the following statement regarding Florida and Tennessee’s suspensions.

“Three Florida football players and one Tennessee football player will be suspended for the first half of their next respective games for flagrant unsportsmanlike actions in the aftermath of the Florida at Tennessee football game on Saturday night in Gainesville,” the SEC announced. “The suspensions were determined after video review and consultation between the Southeastern Conference Office, the University of Florida and the University of Tennessee.

“Offensive lineman Damieon George, Jr., offensive lineman Micah Mazzccua and tight end Dante Zanders of Florida will be suspended for the first half of the Gators’ game with Charlotte on Saturday in Gainesville. Defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott of Tennessee will be suspended for the first half of the Volunteers’ game with UTSA on Saturday in Knoxville.”

Omarr Norman-Lott ‘an upgrade’ for Tennessee in 2023

Arizona State defensive line transfer Omarr Norman-Lott is an upgrade for Tennessee in 2023.

Junior defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott transferred to Tennessee from Arizona State on Jan. 9.

He appeared in 21 games at Arizona State, recording 45 tackles, seven tackles for a loss, four sacks and two pass deflections.

Third-year Tennessee defensive line coach Rodney Garner discussed Norman-Lott following the Vols’ sixth practice during fall camp on Tuesday.

“I definitely think Omarr is an upgrade for us,” Garner said. “He’s a young man that has a body of work, even though it was in a different conference. He has a little bit more maturity to him. When you sit there and look at this kid, he has a skillset. He has power, initial quickness. He knows how to maneuver his body, slip and naturally make some plays. He can really run.

“Initially coming into camp, I thought he was just a tad bit too heavy. I think that now, he’s starting to trim down, and his athleticism is starting to show even more. As he continues to really get himself into better shape, I think we will see a much better product than what he’s shown thus far.”
