One of the best bigs in college basketball on one of the best offenses in the nation is having a huge impact for the Oklahoma Sooners. For the second time this season, and the fifth time in her career, Madi Williams was named Big 12 Player of the Week.
Williams averaged 22.5 points in wins over the TCU Horned Frogs and the Oklahoma State Cowgirls to help the Sooners to a 16-2, 6-1 Big 12 record. Oklahoma is in first place in the Big 12 in large part to Williams’ all-around prowess.
The fifth-year senior is having a career year from the field, shooting 53.1% and 33.3% from three-point range.
In Oklahoma’s blowout win, Williams shot 80% from the field, scoring 19 points in just 25 minutes. She followed that up with a season-high 26 points in the come from behind win over Oklahoma State, where the Sooners trailed by as many as 12 points early in the third quarter.
The Oklahoma Sooners will next take on the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday before a pivotal top 25 Big 12 showdown with No. 17 Iowa State in Ames.
