Skinner has been beatable in the early going, allowing 3+ goals in each start. He outlasted the Philadelphia Flyers in a 4-3 OT win last time out Tuesday with 27 saves on 30 shots. He stopped 23 of 27 shots fired his way in a loss to Dallas in his only regular-season matchup against it last year.

This will be Oettinger’s 1st start since he signed an 8-year, $66 million extension Thursday. He has been fantastic in his 3 starts, allowing just 5 goals on 97 shots. “Otter” was 1-0-1 with a 2.00 GAA and .932 SV% against Edmonton in the regular season

The Oilers have gotten off to a rough start, and they’re up against Oettinger at home. He is 67-20-15 with a 2.52 GAA lifetime at home. The STARS -125 are at a very good price in this spot.

Goalie props weren’t available at press time, but if you can get Oettinger somewhere around Over 26.5 or 27.5, I would bite. As for the puck line, these teams are too close to risk it.

The Oilers are 5-3 in 8 games on the road in these playoffs, including a 3-2 double-overtime win at Dallas in Game 1 of this series.

Still, the safe play here is backing Oettinger and the STARS (-130).

The Oilers +1.5 (-225) will cost more than 2 times the potential return. That’s way too much risk for not nearly enough reward, if you’re a little on the conservative side, but want some insurance on the road team.

The Oilers survived some shaky goaltending to outlast the gritty Vancouver Canucks in 7 games. It was a weird series for C Connor McDavid, who went without a point in 3 of those games. He only had 1 goal in the series and had 5 shots in the last 3 games combined. The Oilers found ways to win without him scoring goals. He had an injury late in the regular season. Is that still an issue? Did Vancouver unlock something defensively? Those questions will be answered soon.

No thanks to the puck line here. I’m going with ZACH HYMAN OVER 3.5 SHOTS (-110). He had 4+ shots in the last 2 games and in 5 of 7 of the last series.

Over/Under

The Oilers are 5-4-1 O/U in their last 10, and the Stars are 4-5-1 in their last 10. Head-to-head, the Over has cashed in 6 of the last 10 with it cashing in 2 of the 3 meetings this season. This is a tricky one because Skinner has been shaky, and Oettinger is potentially sick. But I’m going UNDER 6 (-110).
