Ohio State at Oregon shatters almost decades-long viewership record

Ohio State vs. Oregon put on a show for NBC viewers Saturday, and let’s just say there was quite a few of them tuning in to the matchup.

Ohio State football is one of the most prominent names in college sports, and it typically commands an audience. There aren’t many more better-known names than the Buckeyes.

When you mix that with the Oregon Ducks and have both teams in the top three programs in the country, per the US LBM Coaches Poll, and coming in undefeated to an evening battle, it becomes a game that every fan wants to see.

Let’s just say there were quite a few of them that tuned into NBC on Saturday evening. There were so many that the game was the most-watched Big Ten primetime conference game since 2008 for the network.

The thriller did not disappoint either. The Buckeyes lost 32-31, so while it was a disappointing result, it was the high-scoring showdown the casual fan would want treated to.

It lived up to the hype, and it truly also kept both fanbases in the highest esteem for their public image as it was a high-profile, well-coached battle that came down to the wire.

The Buckeyes, now 5-1, will draw the Nebraska Cornhuskers at home in Week 8.
