Browns ink DE Ogbo Okoronkwo to three-year deal worth up to $22 million

The Browns land a pressure machine

Improving the defensive line is the number one priority for the Cleveland Browns and they have begun to do that by signing former Houston Texans pass rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo. His deal will be worth about $6.3 million per year, with the first two years guaranteed. Though some might not look at this like a huge signing Okoronkwo is an underrated young player that has just recently started to come into his own last season.

Amongst edge rushers, last season Okronkwo was graded as the 12th best edge in overall defensive grade with the 10th best pass rush grade amongst his position according to PFF. It’s not just PFF giving him credit either as ESPN had him as number 13 in the NFL in terms of pass rush win rate at 19 percent for 2022.

Okoronkwo accomplished all this while being the main threat in Houston which is not something he will see in Cleveland. After seeing a lot of double teams last year he will be getting a ton of one on one opportunities opposite Garrett in Jim Schwartz’s system. This is a high-quality signing and an overall upgrade for a team that needs to add talent to the defensive line.

10 Sooners we would have loved to use but couldn’t during the EA Sports NCAA Football hiatus

With EA Sports planning a release of NCAA Football for 2023, we take a look at the 10 Oklahoma Sooners that would have been most fun to use during its hiatus.

One of the most popular franchises of all-time looks to be making a return to your video game consoles in 2023; EA Sports NCAA Football.

The game that’s been on the proverbial shelf since its last release in 2013 is making a return in the new era of college football that provides opportunities for players to earn through name, image, and likeness.

While they haven’t come out with a new title in nearly a decade, NCAA Football 2014 is still incredibly popular among sports gamers who have been able to continue playing online through Playstation consoles.

Rumor has it that nearly 120 teams are currently on board and EA Sports is working with them to get authentic sounds and crowd noises for its gameplay.

As NIL has come to the forefront of college athletics, gamers will likely get a chance to play with some of their favorite players moving forward as EA will attempt to create an even more realistic gaming experience. In years past, the company went with computer-generated names or simply numbers to identify players, but now that athletes can be compensated for their likeness, you’ll more than likely get to take control of Oklahoma’s offense with Nick Evers or Jackson Arnold at the helm when the game releases next year.

With the game’s absence, we missed out on opportunities to use some of our favorite Sooners. Let’s take a look at 10 players that would have been the most fun to use that didn’t get to grace EA Sports’ NCAA Football.

Ogbo Okoronkwo heads to Houston after agreeing on a contract with the Texans

Ogbo Okoronkwo is heading home to Houston after agreeing to a one-year deal to play for the Houston Texans.

The last few months have been very kind to former Oklahoma Sooners edge rusher Ogbo Okoronkwo. He has forever cemented his place in NFL history by winning a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams and he will now get to play in his hometown with the Houston Texans.

According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network Okoronkwo has agreed to a contract with the Texans on the second day of NFL Free Agency.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s John McClain, Okoronkwo took a one-year deal with the Texans.

Okoronkwo has a much better shot to showcase himself in Houston and will almost assuredly get more snaps if healthy. Out from behind some high-level pass rushers like Von Miller, Leonard Floyd, and Dante Fowler Jr. Okoronkwo will have a chance to shine. His injury history has also played a factor in his lack of snaps. He’s only played in 33 games across four seasons and missed his entire rookie season due to injury.

Okoronkwo, 26, was selected in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL draft by the Rams. In 2021, he appeared in 13 games and recorded two sacks, 15 tackles, and two forced fumbles.

With a Super Bowl ring on its way, Okoronkwo can focus on getting healthy and proving himself worthy of a major payday if he’s able to take another step forward this season in Houston.
