Alabama lands in top-eight for 2024 IOL Casey Poe

2024 interior offensive lineman Case Poe released his top-eight schools on Thursday. Poe took an unofficial visit to Alabama less than a week ago.

Interior offensive lineman Casey Poe of the 2024 class listed Alabama in his top-eight schools on Thursday evening. Poe recently took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa on April 15.

The Texas native has been recruited by Alabama since receiving an offer from the coaching staff in November. His primary recruiter is offensive line coach Eric Wolford.

When speaking with On3’s Drew Schott, he spoke about the type of coach that Wolford is.

“His coaching style is very cool and unique. Whenever he’s in the meeting room, he’s guiding his players to find the correct answers themselves instead of just giving it to them. He’s setting them up to be extremely successful at the next level. I feel like he’s a coach that can definitely prepare me to achieve my dreams and aspirations.”

That could go a long ways in Alabama’s hopes of landing the elite offensive lineman. At this time, no offensive linemen are committed in the 2024 recruiting class. Poe would be a very valuable addition to the Tide’s recruiting class.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Casey Poe’s recruiting profile.

Tyler Steen considered a strong pick outside of the first round

Tyler Steen may not be selected in the first round, but he will certainly have an impact on whichever team he lands with.

Tyler Steen joined the Alabama football program via the transfer portal ahead of the 2022 season after beginning his career with the Vanderbilt Commodores. After one season with the Crimson Tide, Steen is now headed to the NFL.

Though he is not projected to be selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft, Steen is a strong candidate to be selected in an early round.

Pro Football Focus’ Trevor Sikkema recently named a few players that would be solid picks outside of the first round. Steen made the list.

“In Steen, I feel like I know I’m getting a good offensive lineman who can start, if needed, at guard or tackle,” writes Sikkema. Steen started for just one year in college due to now-New York Giants tackle Evan Neal playing in front of him, but he posted a 71.9 overall grade with a 77.9 grade as a pass blocker.

Steen is built like a guard with a thick lower body that helps him anchor some of the best bull rushers, but his movement skills were good enough to survive at offensive tackle this past season. Whether at guard or tackle in the NFL, Steen is a player I have confidence in to be a consistent name on my depth chart.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Steen and other former Alabama players as they prepare to begin their professional careers by way of the 2023 NFL draft.

Badgers offer 6-foot-7 offensive lineman from Wisconsin

Wisconsin offered Michael Roeske, a 6-foot-7 class of 2025 offensive lineman from Wautoma, Wisconsin on Monday.

Wisconsin offered Michael Roeske, a 6-foot-7 class of 2025 offensive lineman from Wautoma, Wisconsin on Monday. The 260 pound athlete still has two more seasons of high school football to go before he’d potentially make the leap to a collegiate program.

Roeske does not carry a recruit rating quite yet, but he has now received three Division 1 offers, all of which have come from within the Big Ten (Indiana, Minnesota, Wisconsin). With him being raised in Wisconsin, the Badgers likely have the inside track to land his commitment ahead of 2025.

To this point, Wisconsin has yet to earn any player commitments for the class of 2025, but if Roeske decides to join the Badgers, he’d could be asked to block for three-star class of 2024 quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) at some point in his career.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound athlete has one more season at Clearwater Academy International before he would potentially make the leap to the collegiate level as a member of the class of 2024.

Zandamela has 30 Division 1 offers, including five from current Big Ten programs and one from USC, a future member of the conference. With four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) already set to join the Badgers in 2024, the interior offensive lineman would be a great addition for Wisconsin.

Head coach Luke Fickell and offensive coordinator Phil Longo are expected to usher in a new era in Badger football, and already they have attracted some of the highest-ranked recruits in program history.

Could Chiefs take a flier on veteran NFL offensive lineman D.J. Fluker?

Veteran OL D.J. Fluker is attempting a comeback after sitting out the 2022 NFL season. Could the #Chiefs entertain signing him?

A veteran NFL offensive lineman is attempting a comeback and it could be of intrigue to the Kansas City Chiefs.

According to The Score’s Jordan Schultz, former San Diego Chargers first-round draft pick D.J. Fluker will be working out at the upcoming Alabama pro day on Thursday, March 23. The 6-foot-5 and 330-pound offensive lineman has started over 100 combined regular-season and postseason games during his career. However, the 32-year-old hasn’t played any meaningful NFL snaps since the 2020 NFL season.

He signed with the Miami Dolphins in April of 2021 and ended up on injured reserve with a torn meniscus before his eventual release in July. He would then end up on the Las Vegas Raiders practice squad before being suspended for six weeks in September. Fluker sat out the 2022 NFL season, but he’s now poised to turn some heads at the Alabama pro day.

Could a player like Fluker make sense for the Chiefs? The team lost a ton of positional flexibility on the offensive line when Andrew Wylie signed with the Washington Commanders in free agency. Fluker has started games at left tackle, right tackle and right guard during the course of his eight-year NFL career. Not only could he provide competition for a player like Lucas Niang at the right tackle spot in Kansas City, but he could provide valuable depth at a position where the team currently lacks it. He certainly won’t command a lot of money, which would also be appealing to a team like the Chiefs. They could probably offer him a similar deal to the one that Kyle Long took back in 2021.

To this point, Daniels has received 18 Division 1 offers, including seven programs from within the Big Ten. Due to his size and stature, he projects as either a left tackle or right tackle moving forward and could be a forced to be reckoned with for years to come.

With four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) already committed for the class of 2024, Daniels could be his blindside blocker for multiple seasons with Wisconsin.

The offensive lineman has now received 12 Division 1 offers, including Purdue, Iowa and Michigan State within the Big Ten. Considering he’s a Wisconsin native, the Badgers should be considered a front-runner to gain his commitment in the coming months.

As of now, Wisconsin has secured two commitments for the class of 2024, four-star quarterback Mabrey Mettauer (The Woodlands, Texas) and four-star tight end Grant Stec (Algonquin, Illinois). Jensen could be a third addition to the Badger offense in a couple years.

Former Alabama OL Damieon George recently visited Ole Miss

One of the few Alabama transfers that have not committed to a new program is Damieon George, who recently visited Ole Miss

There is speculation that former Alabama offensive lineman Damieon George may have taken a visit to Ole Miss over the weekend. George tagged Oxford, Mississippi in a photo on his Instagram story.

He entered the transfer portal back in early December. George also took a visit to Auburn as well according to reports.

The Texas native spent three seasons in Tuscaloosa serving primarily as a reserve offensive tackle for the Tide. He made three starts as a redshirt freshman at right tackle.

Now, it appears that he is looking to join another prestigious, power-five program. If he decides to transfer to a school in the SEC, there is a chance that he will get to face his former teammates. That remains to be seen at this time. However, Ole Miss and Auburn are two schools that we can confirm are in the mix.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow George’s college career as well as other Alabama players that have transferred elsewhere.
