Odell Beckham Jr.’s pregame outfit left NFL fans with mixed reactions and Toy Story jokes

“There’s a snake in my boot!”

The Baltimore Ravens rocked the Houston Texans on Saturday and won the AFC divisional round game, 34-10, to advance to next weekend’s AFC championship game.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson delivered a standout performance, while the Texans’ defense stood tough for a while but couldn’t out-smart Baltimore’s offense. It wasn’t the most competitive of games, but it had some good moments.

NFL veteran Odell Beckham Jr. finished with one catch for 12 yards against the Texans. But his pregame outfit is what really had fans talking. And making Toy Story jokes.

Beckham showed up to M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore wearing a modern cowboy-esque look and what ESPN described as a “cow-print leather jacket”. He wasn’t the only NFL player with Western-inspired fashion choices on Saturday, but Beckham’s look definitely caught fans’ attention.

He kind of looks like he’s dressed for a “Kendom” scene in the second half of the Barbie movie. Maybe that’s what he was going for, in which case, bravo. Maybe he was trolling the Texans, or maybe he just liked the look — who knows?

Some people loved his style choices, but others, of course, had some cow- and Toy Story-themed jokes.

20 potential free agent Vikings targets Saturday’s Divisional round

These free agents could potentially be targets for the Minnesota Vikings and are worth watching during Saturday’s Divisional Round games

With the Minnesota Vikings entering year three of the Kwesi Adofo-Mensah and Kevin O’Connell era, it’s a very pivotal offseason. Over the first two seasons, the Vikings sit at 20-14 and should have more injury luck next season.

The divisional round of the National Football League playoffs has eight excellent teams with players that are about to hit free agency.

There are two great matchups on Saturday night with the Houston Texans taking on the Baltimore Ravens and the Green Bay Packers taking on the San Francisco 49ers.

In both of these matchups, there are plenty of free agents to be that could be intriguing pieces for the Vikings and worth keeping your eye on during the games.

Best Fantasy Football waiver wire pickups for Week 12

Here are some waiver wire options for fantasy this week.

After the 12th full slate of regular season action, the NFL and fantasy football are nearing the end of the regular season.

If you had a tough injury in Week 11, or you just didn’t get the production from one of your players that you expected, we’ll scan the waiver wire. For potential pickups, we’ll consider players who are available in at least 50% of ESPN fantasy leagues.

Let’s take a look at some of the potential waiver wire pickups that could help your teams heading into Week 12 of the NFL campaign.

Tyreek Hill had some bad news for Odell Beckham Jr. about using his signature TD celebration

That’s going to cost him.

Despite what has been a slow 2023 season for three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr., Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns had provide some extra motivation.

After all, every player wants to show out against their former team. Just how Beckham went about it may cost him some money come Monday.

During the third quarter, Beckham broke free for a vintage catch and touchdown to extend the Ravens’ lead.

As he cruised into the end zone, Beckham threw up Tyreek Hill’s signature peace sign celebration. Hill — who is enjoying his bye week — noticed the play and had some bad news for his fellow receiver.

Hill wanted to let Odell know that a fine will be coming. He’s not kidding either. Hill was fined nearly $11,000 for the gesture in Week 5.

So while it wasn’t considered a penalty on the field, the league still views the celebration as showing up an opponent (which is dumb). Beckham earned the right to celebrate there.

Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. have squashed their Browns beef

Baker Mayfield and Odell Beckham Jr. had documented beef during their time with the Browns, but it seems like they are good now.

The once-promising era that included quarterback Baker Mayfield throwing to wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. quickly crumbled before the eyes of the Cleveland Browns. The era ended with the outspoken wide receiver requesting a trade, and with the Browns inevitably cutting him after his dad posted a video of a string of missed opportunities for the two to connect.

He then went on to be a crucial part of the Super Bowl run of the Los Angeles Rams. Mayfield’s time in Cleveland did not end much cleaner either, but the now quarterback of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers says there is no longer any bad blood between the two, stating, “We’re good now.”

Mayfield went on to add while appearing on The Pat McAfee Show in Norman, Oklahoma:

“That’s part of me growing as a person. I think normally I would hold a lot of grudges, but no we are good. We squashed that.”

5 things to watch as Browns and Ravens get set to lock horns

What should we be watching closely in Sunday’s matchup between the Browns and Ravens?

For the third time in four weeks, we have another AFC North slugfest taking place at First Energy Stadium on Sunday. The Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens are both 2-1 entering this Week 4 matchup looking to notch another divisional win under their belt as well. The Browns have turned to Elijah Moore a great deal since the injury of running back Nick Chubb, and the Ravens will continue to allow quarterback Lamar Jackson to make plays with the football in his hands.

The Browns look to advance to 3-1 for the first time in awhile as they head into their bye week next week. They will then take on the high-flying San Francisco 49ers coming out of the bye week. Getting a win this week against the Ravens will go a long way in boosting confidence and morale in Berea as they have an opportunity to further their stance as a Super Bowl contender.

Without overlooking the Ravens (that would be a foolish thing to do), however, here are five things to watch in this AFC North showdown.

Odell Beckham Jr. literally fell over backwards after hearing Zay Flowers’ rookie signing bonus with Ravens

OBJ!

Baltimore Ravens rookie wide receiver Zay Flowers sure knows how to bring down the house.

During a recent team meeting, Flowers introduced himself to his fellow teammates by saying who he was, where he went to school and what his signing bonus was on his rookie contract with the Ravens.

Well, Flowers’ answer would stun anyone, as he made $7 million when he signed the dotted line on his rookie deal. The new Ravens wideout telling his new teammates how much he made on his first NFL deal sent the whole room into a frenzy of excitement.

The reveal stunned fellow wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. so much that he literally fell over backwards where he was sitting down.

This is just the best reaction possible, as Beckham certainly couldn’t believe how much his younger counterpart was making on his new deal.

It’s great that someone like Flowers can get such an amazing signing bonus when he enters the NFL. It’s such a good deal that it might knock your socks off… or send you flying over backwards where you’re sitting.

Odell Beckham Jr. delivered evergreen advice about regrets and mistakes as Ravens’ veteran leader

We should all learn something from guidance like this.

Odell Beckham Jr. is entering his 10th NFL season with the Baltimore Ravens, and he’s already seen it all. From a meteoric start with the New York Giants — highlighted by one of the greatest catches in the sport’s history — to a torn ACL while winning a Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams, Beckham Jr. has experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows.

The 30-year-old veteran seems a lot wiser for it.

In a training camp conversation with NBC Sports’ Peter King, Beckham Jr. described his mentality as more of an elder statesman for the Ravens. With Baltimore rostering promising young receivers like Zay Flowers, Beckham Jr. is both in a position to make plays and mentor a rookie.

After everything he’s endured and learned, Beckham Jr. appears to be relishing the opportunity. He’s letting the game come to him, and anyone who wants to learn from him gets their appropriate time.

“I think my biggest thing now is the way that I listen. I’ll sit there and just listen. Hear them out. When I was younger, even if I respected a person, if someone’s talking and talking and telling me information, I think it’s hard to lead that way. Everybody’s story’s different. You have to understand a person, really understand them, before you tell them how to do something, I think. It’s kinda cool. I actually love the role.”

A common question many NFL veterans get every year concerns what they would tell a younger version of themselves. How would they guide them? What would they make sure they remember? Is there anything they’d do differently?

Beckham Jr. volunteered an answer about this perspective, sharing a delightful answer about rolling with the punches in life.

More from NBC Sports:

“… You have to tell your 21-year-old self you’re gonna go through your own journey. There’s no manual for what you’re gonna go through. You’re gonna have a lot of f—ups. You’re gonna learn from them. You don’t wanna make the big mistake, but if you do, you usually grow from it and get stronger.”

Of course, Beckham Jr. is human. Like anyone, he thought about what could’ve been. But that is not a mindset that ever serves a person in a healthy fashion. It’s a deterrent from future success, and one Beckham Jr. isn’t entertaining.

“… If I could go back,” Beckham said, “would I like to have a career where the first three years of my career could have been repeated? Yeah, of course. I’d be sitting here, 30 years old, with 100 touchdowns and 14,000 yards. I wish I could’ve never been injured, never shattered my ankle or came back too early from a high ankle sprain. But those are things I now have to live with. I can’t live in regret for the rest of my life.”

I think this is timeless advice we could all hear and channel now and then.

Jahan Dotson working out in Florida with Odell Beckham, other NFL receivers

Jahan Dotson is getting ready for training camp.

Washington Commanders wide receiver Jahan Dotson is a popular pick for one of the NFL’s breakout young players in 2023. We picked Dotson as Washington’s breakout performer for next season.

In a recent interview, Dotson himself predicted a breakout season in 2023 for himself.

With NFL teams still on “vacation” until reporting for training camp later this month, many players around the league are working out together to prepare for the upcoming season. Last offseason, then-Washington quarterback Carson Wentz led a session with several of the Commanders’ offensive players.

Washington quarterback Sam Howell and wide receiver Dyami Brown — former college teammates — were spotted working out together last week.

As for Dotson, he’s in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this week, working with other NFL wide receivers, such as Odell Beckham Jr., recent first-round pick Zay Flowers and Elijah Moore.

Gold Feet Certified shared the following video on Twitter:

As a rookie last season, Dotson caught 35 passes for 523 yards and a team-leading seven touchdowns, despite missing five games.

Beckham signed with the Baltimore Ravens earlier this offseason, who drafted Flowers in the first round of April’s NFL draft. Moore was traded from the New York Jets to the Cleveland Browns.

Here’s what stopped Chiefs from trading for DeAndre Hopkins

A contract handed out to a wide receiver in free agency was the biggest wrench thrown into a trade that would’ve sent DeAndre Hopkins to the #Chiefs:

[connatix div_id=”3f8b015acdd24c648befc5d5dac47469″ player_id=”afe1e038-d3c2-49c0-922d-6511a229f69c” cid=”7cbcea0d-4ce2-4c75-9a8d-fbe02a192c24″]

The Kansas City Chiefs were closer to executing a trade to acquire DeAndre Hopkins from the Arizona Cardinals than anyone ever realized. What exactly prevented the two sides from getting a deal done? Well, it was a deal for another receiver that the Chiefs had often been linked to.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer, Kansas City and Buffalo were the only two teams to have “substantive” talks with Arizona. The biggest issue preventing a trade from happening in either situation was Hopkins’ contract, which is the challenge that was expected.

Breer says that the Chiefs made progress in that regard, but that progress was halted by Odell Beckham Jr.’s deal with the Baltimore Ravens in mid-April. When he received a $15M base salary for 2023, that became the floor for what Hopkins was searching for in a new deal.

Beckham Jr.’s deal ultimately might be the issue that prevents Kansas City from signing Hopkins now that he’s set to become a free agent. He’ll likely be looking for a deal from a team that would pay him in a similar fashion. That could be a tough deal to find given that the Ravens seemed to be the only ones remotely interested in paying Beckham Jr. that much on a one-year deal.
