NBA Twitter reacts to Warriors’ vintage performance in blowout win vs. Nuggets in Game 2

After the Warriors stormed to a vintage blowout win in game two over the Nuggets, NBA Twitter chimed in with different reactions on Monday.

After two seasons without an appearance in the postseason, the Golden State Warriors made a statement in game two of their opening-round series against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night.

Following a slow start in the first quarter, the Warriors’ three-guard lineup sparked a furious run to fuel a blowout win in game two, 126-106. The Nuggets had no answer for the combination of Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Jordan Poole.

Each member of Golden State’s backcourt tallied 20 or more points, with Curry leading the way off the bench with 34 points on 12-of-17 shooting from the field. Curry buried five triples on 10 attempts from beyond the arc in his second appearance off the bench. The two-time Most Valuable Player added four assists, three boards, a block and a steal in 23 minutes on Monday.

After dropping 30 points in game one, Poole picked up right where he left off with 29 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the field in game two. Again, Poole showed off his entire bag of tricks, hitting five triples, dishing out eight dimes and grabbing five boards in 34 minutes against the Nuggets.

Thompson rounded out the group with 21 points of his own on 9-of-19 shooting from the floor with three jumpers from long distance. For those counting at home, the trio of sharpshooters combined for 84 of Golden State’s 126 points on Monday night.

After an explosive performance helped the Warriors take a 2-0 lead in the series, members of the NBA community on Twitter chimed in with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Twitter.

NBA Twitter reacts to Jordan Poole’s electric performance in Game 1 of playoffs vs. Nuggets

After Jordan Poole torched the Nuggets for 30 points to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead in the playoff series, NBA Twitter exploded with different reactions.

Although Steph Curry made his highly-anticipated return to the court in game one of the playoffs after missing the final 12-games of the regular season, the Jordan Poole show rolled on in game one.

The third-year guard shined in his postseason debut against the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, scoring a game-high 30 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor and 5-of-7 from beyond the arc. Poole added three assists and a board in 30 minutes. Poole set the tone for the Warriors throughout the contest, whether it was hitting long-distance jumpers or acrobatic buckets at the rim.

Klay Thompson heated up early for the Warriors, tallying 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting from the floor. The Splash Brother also drilled five triples on 10 attempts from long-distance as the Warriors cruised to a 123-107 victory.

With the Warriors rolling to a near blowout, Curry played only 22 minutes in his first action since March 16. In his appearance off the bench, the two-time Most Valuable Player recorded 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting from the floor with four assists and three boards.

While he made an impact on the box score with 25 points, 10 boards and six assists, it was clear reigning Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic was frustrated on Saturday night. Jokic was swarmed by Draymond Green and Kevon Looney’s relentless defense throughout the contest.

After Golden State grabbed a 1-0 lead in the series behind Poole’s breakout performance, the NBA community on Twitter exploded with different reactions. Here’s a look at what fans and analysts were saying on Saturday night.

After rolling past the Phoenix Suns with a statement win on Christmas day, the Warriors will meet another Western Conference playoff hopeful on Tuesday with the Denver Nuggets in town.

Despite winning three in a row, and six of their last seven, the Warriors have had a thin depth chart with up to five players in the NBA’s health and safety protocol.

However, on Tuesday, the Warriors could be getting some help against the Nuggets with the return of Andrew Wiggins after clearing the league’s protocol.

Advice and prediction

While the Warriors have boasted one of the best defenses in the NBA through the 2021-22 season, they will be missing their defensive catalyst against the reigning Most Valuable Player.

With Draymond Green in the league’s health and safety protocol, the Warriors could have some holes on defense, especially in the frontcourt where Nikola Jokic roams. Instead of attempting to lock up Jokic, the Warriors could lean on a fast-paced offense behind Steph Curry and the return of Andrew Wiggins.

During their recent three-game win streak, the Warriors have scored 113 or more points in each game. The Warriors have also hit the over in four of their last five contests.

Without Green on defense, the Warriors and Nuggets over 217.5 should be the bet to follow on Tuesday.

Prediction: Warriors 118, Nuggets 109

3 things to know: Warriors welcome fans back to Chase Center with victory over Nuggets, 118-97

Steph Curry bounced back with another 32 point effort to lead the Warriors past the Nuggets in the first game with fans at Chase Center.

For the first time in the 2020-21 season, the Golden State Warriors welcomed members of Dub Nation back into San Francisco’s Chase Center for a tilt against the Denver Nuggets on Friday night.

With 35% of Chase Center packed with fans, the Warriors put on a show against the Nuggets. After a quiet 18 point effort in a loss to the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, Steph Curry bounced back to lead the Warriors with 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor with eight rebounds and three assists in 34 minutes. The seven-time All-Star guard has now tallied 30 or more points in 12 of his last 13 games.

With Curry surging, fellow Most Valuable Player candidate Nikola Jokic registered 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting from the floor with six rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes.

Along with Curry’s scoring, Draymond Green’s passing and a newly developed bench duo, the Warriors pushed past the Nuggets, 118-97. Following Friday’s victory, the Warriors sit at 30-30 with 12 games on the schedule down the stretch.

Bench Duo

Despite Kent Bazemore entering the league’s health and safety protocol, Steve Kerr opted to start Mychal Mulder and keep Kelly Oubre Jr. in a role off the bench. With Oubre Jr. thriving in a lead position in the second unit, the Warriors are quickly developing a solid one-two punch between him and Jordan Poole.

For the second consecutive game, Oubre Jr. tallied over 20 points with 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting from the field with six boards, three assists, three steals and two blocks in 33 minutes off the bench.

Poole notched another double-figure scoring effort with 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field. The second-year guard has recorded at least 12 or more points off the bench in six of his last eight games.

Draymond Green

Although he only scored two points on 1-of-3 shooting from the floor, Draymond Green dominated the game as a passer on Friday night. The former Defensive Player of the Year controlled Golden State’s offense to match his career-high with 19 assists in 33 minutes.

Along with performing a passing clinic, Green recorded a double-double with 12 boards against the Nuggets.

Highlight of the night

With Bazemore sidelined, Mulder used his opportunity in the starting lineup to add an emphatic dunk to his 2020-21 highlight reel. The sharpshooting guard got Nikola Jokic to bite on a shot fake at the 3-point line leading to an open run at the lane for Mulder.

Despite Aaron Gordon trying to meet Mulder at the rim, the Kentucky product exploded for a powerful one-hand jam.

Prior to his uncharacteristic18 point performance in a loss to the Wizards on Wednesday, Steph Curry ripped off 11 consecutive games with 30 or more points. Heading into Friday’s contest, the seven-time All-Star is leading the NBA in scoring with 31.1 points per game.

Curry will ride into a battle against fellow Most Valuable Player candidate Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets on Friday night.

3 things to know: Steph Curry makes history on way to 53 point performance in win vs. Nuggets, 116-107

On the night he made history, Steph Curry exploded for 53 points to lead the Golden State Warriors past the Denver Nuggets at Chase Center, 116-107.

On a historic night at Chase Center, Steph Curry torched the Denver Nuggets for 53 points to become the Golden State Warriors’ all-time leading scorer.

Trailing Wilt Chamberlain by 18 points heading into the contest, the two-time Most Valuable Player exploded for 21 points in the first quarter to take over the top spot in Golden State’s record books with 17,783 career points.

After inking his name at the top of another Warriors’ milestone, Curry went to work against the red-hot Nuggets. The seven-time All-Star took over for his third 50-point plus effort of the season, shooting 14-of-24 from the floor and 10-of-18 from beyond the arc. Curry added six boards and four assists in 36 minutes.

The 33-year-old now sits alone atop Golden State’s record books with 17,818 and counting.

Following a historic night at Chase Center to cap a three-game homestand, the Warriors will head on the road for a five-game swing.

Draymond Green

While Curry led the party with 53 points, Draymond Green added to Golden State’s offensive attack with 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the floor. Green showed off his range, drilling a pair of triples against the Nuggets.

Green’s 18 point performance was good enough for his highest-scoring effort of the 2020-21 campaign. The former Defensive Player of the Year tacked on seven boards, seven assists and four steals in 37 minutes.

Jamal Murray

After scoring 17 points on 5-of-15 shooting from the floor with four rebounds, four assists and three steals in 33 minutes against the Warriros, Nuggets guard Jamal Murray looked to suffer a scary injury late in the game.

With just 50 seconds remaining, Murray crashed to the floor after driving through the lane. The Kentucky product’s knee scarily appeared to give out. Murray winced in pain as he laid on the Chase Center floor before exiting the game. Denver’s training staff initially brought out a wheelchair to help Murray, but the 24-year-old guard refused it, leaving the game with the help of trainers instead.

Without Wiseman

With rookie James Wiseman out with a torn meniscus, Kevon Looney rejoined the Warriors’ starting lineup. In his first appearance in the starting lineup since March 19. Looney drew a matchup with MVP candidate Nikola Jokic.

While the Denver big man tallied 27 points on 10-of-21 shooting from the floor, Looney went scoreless in 31 minutes. Although Looney didn’t record a bucket on 0-of-3 shooting from the floor, the veteran big notched double-figures in rebounding with 11 boards against the Nuggets.

With Wiseman set to miss an extended run, the Warriors will need Looney to add some form of offense in the frontcourt down the stretch.

Nuggets vs. Warriors: Live stream, how to watch, TV channel, rookie watch, previous result, start time on April 12

Coming off a clutch victory on Saturday, the Warriors will welcome the red-hot Nuggets to the Bay Area on Monday. Here are all the details on how to watch.

Coming off a much-needed victory over the Houston Rockets, the Golden State Warriors will welcome the red-hot Denver Nuggets to Chase Center on Monday night.

Despite dropping their previous contest to the Boston Celtics, the Nuggets streaked to eight consecutive victories led by Most Valuable Player candidate Nikola Jokic and new addition Aaron Gordon.

Although the Warriors will be without Kelly Oubre Jr. (wrist) and James Wiseman (knee), the Nuggets will still have to find a way to slow down Steph Curry. The seven-time All-Star point guard has scored 32 or more points in his previous six games for the Warriors, averaging 36 points on 52.6% from the field and 43.2% from beyond the arc during that span.

Below is everything you need to know before the Warriors tilt with the Nuggets on Monday night in San Francisco.

3 things to know: Steph Curry’s 35 points not enough against Nikola Jokic and Nuggets, 114-104

Despite Steph Curry scoring 35 points, turnovers and sloppy defense hurt the Golden State Warriors’ chances of a comeback against the Denver Nuggets on Thursday.

On Thursday night in Denver, the first quarter set the tone for the rest of the contest between the Nuggets and Warriors. Paul Millsap, JaMychal Green and Jamal Murray led a 37-24 first-quarter stretch, setting up the Nuggets for the rest of the game.

Although the Warriors made runs to cut into Denver’s lead behind Steph Curry and James Wiseman, sloppy defense and untimely turnovers torched any chances of a Golden State comeback on Friday.

Each time the Warriors attempted to cut Denver’s advantage to around the 10-point mark, Nikola Jokic took over. The two-time All-Star controlled the pace of the game while racking up a triple-double at 23 points on 8-of-16 shooting from the field with 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Jokic added three steals in 23 minutes against the Warriors.

After falling to the Nuggets, 114-104, the Golden State Warriors schedule doesn’t get any easier. Following three days without a game due to the league postponing Friday’s contest in Phoenix, the Warriors will travel to Staples Center on Monday for a matchup with the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers.

Warriors vs. Nuggets: Live stream, how to watch, TV channel, rookie watch, previous result, start time on Jan. 14

To begin a quick two-game road trip, the Golden State Warriors will meet Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Here is how to watch, stream and everything else you need to know about the tilt.

After spending seven consecutive games in the Bay Area, the Golden State Warriors begin a two-game road swing with a stop in Denver on Thursday night. Along with providing a test against a proven Western Conference playoff contender, Golden State’s tilt with the Nuggets will give rookie James Wiseman the opportunity to match up against one of the top bigs in the NBA.

The 2020 No. 2 overall draft pick will likely link up with two-time All-Star Nikola Jokic throughout the contest. During Golden State’s recent homestand, Wiseman averaged 9.6 points on 48.4% shooting from the field with 6.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks in seven consecutive starts.

Adding to the battle of the bigs, the Warriors and Nuggets point guard clash could provide fireworks. After scoring under 30 points in back-to-back games for the first time in January, Steph Curry will have the chance to get back on track in a star-studded matchup against Jamal Murray.

Before the Warriors travel to Denver, here is how to watch or stream the contest and everything else you need to know about the matchup.
