Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Denver Nuggets face the Minnesota Timberwolves Thursday in Game 6 of the best-of-7 Western Conference semifinals. Tip-off from Target Center is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Series: Nuggets lead 3-2; regular season was tied 2-2

Finally the home team won. Unfortunately for Minnesota that means they are 1 game away from being eliminated. Timberwolves G Anthony Edwards shot 1-5 from beyond the arc and the entire team didn’t do that much better, hitting just 30.8% from 3.

Nuggets C Nikola Jokic, on the other hand, made 2 of his 3 treys and shot 15-for-22 overall to notch a 40-point game in their 112-97 victory. Denver easily covered their -4.5 spread and the Over (204.5) hit by 5 points.

Nuggets at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 120, Timberwolves 108

Moneyline

It appears this Nuggets team has figured out the Timberwolves. The pressure is on Minnesota, but this team is still relatively young.

With the Timberwolves winning 2 games in Denver already this series, the Nuggets should treat this like a Game 7, matching Minnesota’s urgency.

LEAN NUGGETS (+110).

Against the spread

As a home favorite in the regular season, the Timberwolves won in 70.7% of their games. However, against the spread in those games they covered just 41% of the time.

Since I like Denver, I certainly would consider taking the points as insurance. But no need to pay the juice; if you like Denver to win just play the moneyline for a better value.

PASS.

Over/Under

The line for 1st 2 games was set at 209.5 and both games went Under. Since then the books dropped it to 205 and the next 3 games went Over (and 2 of those totals were below 209.5).

While the current line is 203.5, I think 4 straight Overs will be tough to hit since both teams should be playing desperately.

PASS.

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Denver Nuggets and Minnesota Timberwolves meet Sunday in Game 4 of a best-of-7 Western Conference, 2nd-round series. The Timberwolves lead the series 2-1. Tip-off from Target Center is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Nuggets are starting to show signs of life in this series after a 117-90 road victory in Game 3 Friday. Denver won straight up as a 3.5-point underdog and did most of the heavy lifting to help the Over (205.5) hit.

C Nikola Jokic and G Jamal Murray each had 24 points for the Nuggets, who can regain home-court advantage with a victory Sunday.

Minnesota’s 90 points in Friday’s loss was its lowest scoring output since an 89-88 setback against the LA Clippers March 3. The Over/Under for points scored by G Anthony Edwards was set at 27.5, and he finished with 19 after taking just 15 shots (8 for 15).

The Timberwolves covered and the Under hit in the 1st 2 games of this series.

Nuggets at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 100, Timberwolves 99

Moneyline

While I like the Nuggets (+125) at these odds, it’s tough to fade the Timberwolves (-150) in back-to-back home games. What we do know is that Minnesota’s No. 1-ranked defense should bounce back after getting blown out, and in a close, low-scoring game, this may just come down to which team gets the final possession.

PASS. Bet the spread and/or total instead.

Against the spread

The defending NBA champs were grossly undervalued by the market heading into Friday. They went from 7.5-point favorites in Game 2 to 3.5-point underdogs in Game 3. That 11-point swing was way too drastic, even when accounting for change of venue.

The Nuggets have barely been upgraded since Friday’s win, and I believe that’s a mistake.

Minnesota is a young team, and its best player, Edwards, is just 22 years old. The Timberwolves faced zero adversity in a 4-game sweep of the Phoenix Suns in the 1st round. They now have to deal with the pressure of potentially giving home-court advantage back to the defending champs.

I’ll put my money on the veterans who have proven that they can win multiple playoff series.

BET NUGGETS +2.5 (-105).

Over/Under

The Under has hit in 2 of the 3 games this series, and Minnesota’s NBA-best defense should look much better after allowing 117 points in Game 3.

This is a pivotal game in the sense that a Timberwolves victory would put them just 1 win away from the conference finals and a Nuggets upset would give them back home court. Look for both teams to play conservatively and slow down the pace.

BET UNDER 204.5 (-110).

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Denver Nuggets (47-21) take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (47-21) Tuesday with tip-off from Target Center set for 9 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: T-Wolves lead 1-0

The Nuggets were victimized by a Kyrie Irving buzzer-beater to fall 107-105 to the Dallas Mavericks Sunday. The loss snapped a 5-game winning streak. C Nikola Jokic had a bit of a quiet game with 16 points, 11 boards and 7 assists. The fact that line is a quiet game for the Joker shows just how dominant he has been.

The Wolves have won 3 straight after a 114-104 W over the Utah Jazz Monday. The win closed out a 4-2 road trip spanning 11 days. G Anthony Edwards had 32 points, 8 boards and 7 assists. Since F Karl-Anthony Towns went down March 4, Ant-Man is averaging 31.3 PPG, 7.2 RPG and 4.8 APG.

The Nuggets and T-Wolves are tied for 2nd in the West and sit a half-game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a pivotal matchup, but they will play 2 more times before the end of the season.

Nuggets at Timberwolves and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 112, Timberwolves 108

Moneyline

This spread is heavily leaned toward the Nuggets because the Wolves are on a back-to-back. Minnesota is 7-3 in back-to-back scenarios this season.  The T-Wolves won the only matchup this season, which was at home, 110-89. They’ll have to find a way to replace KAT’s 21 points, but the biggest key for me is locking down F Michael Porter Jr., who is coming into his own after years of back issues stunting his growth in the league. He’s averaging 18.8 PPG and shooting 47.3% from distance this month.

Because MPJ is producing at this rate, and because the Wolves are without KAT, I can’t get over the hump to pick the Wolves here — despite the value. Instead, take MICHAEL PORTER JR. OVER 16.5 POINTS (-105). He has dropped 17 in 7 of his last 9 games.

Against the spread

The spread swelled to 7.5 Tuesday morning without much alteration to the moneyline. That’s too wide of a margin unless Gobert is unable to go. He has missed 2 games with a rib injury, but I would lean toward him going in this important tilt.

Take the TIMBERWOLVES +7.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Wolves are 6-4 O/U over the last 10, and Denver is 4-6. The Over is 5-3-2 in the last 10 meetings between the teams. The T-Wolves have gone over 100 points in 7 straight, and they went over 109 in 6 of them. As long as 1 team hits 110, this OVER 213.5 (-105) should cash.

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”3011″ ]

The Denver Nuggets (4-0) face the Minnesota Timberwolves (1-2) on Wednesday at Target Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: First meeting; Denver beat Minnesota 4-1 in 1st round of last season’s playoffs

The Nuggets took down the Utah Jazz 110-102 on Monday despite failing to cover as 9-point home favorites and hitting the Under (226). The reigning NBA champions have begun the season on a 4-game winning streak.

The Timberwolves failed to cover as 2.5-point road favorites and the Over (228.5) easily cleared in their 127-113 defeat to the Atlanta Hawks on Monday. Through 3 games, G Anthony Edwards is leading the way for Minnesota, producing 25.3 PPG, 7 RPG, and 5 APG.

Nuggets at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 115, Timberwolves 108

Moneyline

Denver is going to lose at some point this season, but it won’t be on Wednesday night. Take the NUGGETS (-140) on the road, and I’d only bet on their moneyline at -155 odds or better.

This is a rematch of the 1st round of the playoffs last season when the Nuggets won the series 4-1, and they have now won 5 of the last 6 meetings.

Against the spread

NUGGETS -2.5 (-110) has fantastic value as Denver has won by at least 4 points in each of its 1st 4 games this season. Even with C Rudy Gobert on the Timberwolves, Minnesota won’t have an answer for slowing down C Nikola Jokic.

The Nuggets are 4th in offensive rating and true-shooting percentage through 4 games. On the other hand, the Timberwolves are 24th in offensive rating and 23rd in true-shooting percentage in 3 games.

Over/Under

With the firepower the Nuggets possess, I’ll side with OVER 220.5 (-110) in this contest. The Timberwolves also have Edwards and F Karl-Anthony Towns to help do their part in achieving the Over.

In the 9 meetings between the Nuggets and the Timberwolves last season (including the playoffs), the Over was 5-2-2.

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 4 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Minnesota Timberwolves welcome the Denver Nuggets to Target Center Sunday for Game 4 of their 1st-round Western Conference playoffs series. Tip is set for 9:30 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

The Wolves are down 3-0 and will be looking to stave off a series sweep Sunday.

Minnesota lost Game 3 120-111 on Friday, failing to cover as a 1.5-point home underdog. G Anthony Edwards and F Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 63 points in the loss.

The Nuggets have been led in scoring by G Jamal Murray, who is averaging 27.3 points per game in the series. Six Nuggets are averaging 10 or more points per game throughout the first 3 games.

Prediction

Timberwolves 118, Nuggets 114

Moneyline

SPRINKLE TIMBERWOLVES (+145).

The Wolves had Game 3 within 6 points multiple times in the 4th quarter.

They weren’t able to quite break through, but they have the talented scorers and the size to make that run in Game 4. Minnesota was 22-19 at home during the regular season.

It is difficult to pull off a clean sweep against a team of Minnesota’s caliber, and I’d back them getting one back Sunday.

Against the spread

BET TIMBERWOLVES +3.5 (-105).

The Wolves have failed to cover every game of this series, and the spread has adjusted accordingly. They have a talented team that hasn’t played up to par.

Towns has shot just 40.9% from the field this series and his play should improve to the mean. Similarly, C Nikola Jokic, F Michael Porter Jr. and F Aaron Gordon all have shot 50% from deep and are due to regress.

Minnesota should find a way to improve its play. Denver was just 11-16 ATS as a road favorite this season, so it hasn’t performed well in this situation for most of the season.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 224.5 (-110).

The Over has hit in 2 straight games as Denver has scored 120 or more points in Game 2 and Game 3. Minnesota has topped 110 in both games as well.

Denver is 4-2 O/U in its last 6 games and has one of the league’s most efficient offenses, ranking No. 1 in effective field goal rate (57.3%). Couple that with the Wolves, who rank 7th in pace, and there should be points scored Sunday.

Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Denver Nuggets at Minnesota Timberwolves Game 3 odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Denver Nuggets battle the Minnesota Timberwolves in Game 3 of their 1st-round playoff series on Friday. Tip from Target Center is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds, and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Denver takes a 2-0 series lead to Minnesota after back-to-back home wins. On Wednesday they took down the Wolves 122-113 to cover as an 8-point favorite. G Jamal Murray led the Nuggets with a 40-point performance while shooting 6-of-10 from 3. C Nikola Jokic scored 27 points while F Aaron Gordon posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Minnesota did not go down without a fight as G Anthony Edwards scored 41 points, C Rudy Gobert added 19 and F Karl-Anthony Towns posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. While 6 of 8 of the Wolves players scored in double digits, they will need more rounded scoring to compete in Game 3.

Nuggets at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 111, Timberwolves 103

Moneyline

PASS.

The spread presents a better play on the Nuggets than the moneyline.

Against the spread

LEAN NUGGETS -2.5 (-110).

Whether Gobert plays or not for the Timberwolves could greatly affect their ability to guard Jokic, but regardless, with a lack of bench scoring and lack of overall scoring from the collective team, the Wolves will continue to struggle against the Nuggets.

Denver is 6-2 ATS in its last 8 games while Minnesota is 5-5 ATS in its last 10. Minnesota is also just 6-9 ATS this season when playing as a 1-2.5-point underdog.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 222.5 (-105).

The Under is 9-1 in Denver’s last 10 when their opponent scores 100 or more points in their previous game. It is also 8-1 in the Nuggets’ last 9 games following an outright win and 11-2 in their last 13 games after allowing 100-plus points in their previous game.

The Under is 4-1 in the Wolves’ last 5 games playing on a day’s rest and 4-1 in their last 5 after scoring 100 or more points in their previous game. The Under is also 24-16-1 when the Wolves play at home this season.

This will be the 3rd of 4 matchups between these teams. They are 1-1 straight up, but the Wolves have covered both, winning outright 124-111 at home Jan. 2. The total was 1-1 O/U in those games as well.

Denver is coming off a 128-108 win over Atlanta, covering as a 1-point home favorite. It has covered 4 of its last 5 games and is 6-4 against the spread (ATS) over its last 10. The Nuggets are 29-24 ATS on the season.

Minnesota, on the other hand, is 26-29 ATS on the season and 7-3 ATS over their last 10 games. The Wolves are coming off a 127-120 home loss to Orlando, failing to cover as a 5.5-point favorite.

Nuggets at Timberwolves picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 118, Nuggets 114

Moneyline

PASS.

The Wolves have won both games outright and are 19-12 straight up at home while Denver is 12-12 on the road. Avoid this and look to the spread for value.

Against the spread

LEAN TIMBERWOLVES -2.5 (-115).

This line seems like Vegas is begging you to take Denver. The Nuggets haven’t been great on the road this season and are on the second night of a back-to-back. They are also 0-2 ATS against Minnesota and 0-1 straight up on the road against the Wolves. Denver is 10-14 ATS as the road team while Minnesota is 16-15 ATS at home.

The Wolves are also 7-4 ATS with a rest advantage this season which will be the case here. Their size with Gobert in the paint and F Jaden McDaniels on the perimeter should be able to limit the league’s most efficient offense.

Overall, back the TIMBERWOLVES -2.5 (-115).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 233.5 (-115).

The Wolves have gone Under their projected total in 5 of their last 6 games. There has only been 1 game in their last 8 that they or their opponent has topped 120. Their defense has been a key reason why, ranking 8th in opponents’ field goal percentage (46.6%). The Wolves are also 13-18 O/U at home this season.

The Nuggets are 5-5 O/U in their last 10 but could have tired legs and slow the pace. They already rank 20th in pace and, on the second night of a back-to-back, could slow it further.

Ultimately, take the UNDER 233.5 (-115).

The Denver Nuggets (28-21) stop by Target Center Tuesday to play the Minnesota Timberwolves (25-25) at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Minnesota stopped its two-game losing skid by crushing the Utah Jazz 126-106 Sunday. The T-Wolves are 5-5 SU and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games.

Nuggets at Timberwolves odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Timberwolves 122, Nuggets 110

Money line

PASS.

I’m on Minnesota to win outright but the Timberwolves (-180) is too rich for my blood considering we don’t know the official starting lineups yet. For what it’s worth, Denver is 7-8 SU as a road underdog and Minnesota is 11-4 SU as a home favorite.

Against the spread

BET the TIMBERWOLVES -4.5 (-107) because based on the line movement and some simple logic, I’m anticipating the Nuggets will be without the reigning MVP Jokic.

Denver opened up as a 3-point underdog but that number has increased up to the current price after Jokic randomly landed on the injury report.

The Nuggets are in the front end of back-to-back games and play the Utah Jazz Wednesday in a primetime game so I’m gambling that they’ll rest Jokic tonight and have him suit up against Utah.

The absence of Jokic in this game would be massive. Jokic is arguably playing better this season compared to his MVP turn last season and has the best on/off net rating in the NBA.

T-Wolves C Karl-Anthony Towns is one of the best bigs in the league and Minnesota is third in offensive rebounding rate. Not having Jokic available means KAT should feast on Denver’s interior and the Nuggets’ rebounding rates plummet when Jokic is off the floor.

There’s also a chance Minnesota gets good injury luck if Russell returns to action. The T-Wolves score 12.6 more points per 100 possessions when Russell is on the floor, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG) and he grades in the 94th percentile of point guards in adjusted on/off net rating (per CTG).

BET the TIMBERWOLVES -4.5 (-120) for 1 unit.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 229.5 (-115) for a one-third unit because my favorite play is Minnesota laying the points.

However, Denver is 8-2 O/U in the last 10 games, Minnesota is 7-1 O/U in its last eight as a favorite and the Nuggets are fourth in 3-point shooting in January while the T-Wolves are 28th in defensive 3-point percentage.

The T-Wolves should be able to score a bunch of easy points off of turnovers Denver is 21st in offensive turnover rate (TOV%) whereas Minnesota is second in defensive TOV% and first in points off of turnovers per game.
