The Denver Nuggets (47-21) take on the Minnesota Timberwolves (47-21) Tuesday with tip-off from Target Center set for 9 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Nuggets vs. Timberwolves odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: T-Wolves lead 1-0

The Nuggets were victimized by a Kyrie Irving buzzer-beater to fall 107-105 to the Dallas Mavericks Sunday. The loss snapped a 5-game winning streak. C Nikola Jokic had a bit of a quiet game with 16 points, 11 boards and 7 assists. The fact that line is a quiet game for the Joker shows just how dominant he has been.

The Wolves have won 3 straight after a 114-104 W over the Utah Jazz Monday. The win closed out a 4-2 road trip spanning 11 days. G Anthony Edwards had 32 points, 8 boards and 7 assists. Since F Karl-Anthony Towns went down March 4, Ant-Man is averaging 31.3 PPG, 7.2 RPG and 4.8 APG.

The Nuggets and T-Wolves are tied for 2nd in the West and sit a half-game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. This is a pivotal matchup, but they will play 2 more times before the end of the season.

Nuggets at Timberwolves and predictions

Prediction

Nuggets 112, Timberwolves 108

Moneyline

This spread is heavily leaned toward the Nuggets because the Wolves are on a back-to-back. Minnesota is 7-3 in back-to-back scenarios this season.  The T-Wolves won the only matchup this season, which was at home, 110-89. They’ll have to find a way to replace KAT’s 21 points, but the biggest key for me is locking down F Michael Porter Jr., who is coming into his own after years of back issues stunting his growth in the league. He’s averaging 18.8 PPG and shooting 47.3% from distance this month.

Because MPJ is producing at this rate, and because the Wolves are without KAT, I can’t get over the hump to pick the Wolves here — despite the value. Instead, take MICHAEL PORTER JR. OVER 16.5 POINTS (-105). He has dropped 17 in 7 of his last 9 games.

Against the spread

The spread swelled to 7.5 Tuesday morning without much alteration to the moneyline. That’s too wide of a margin unless Gobert is unable to go. He has missed 2 games with a rib injury, but I would lean toward him going in this important tilt.

Take the TIMBERWOLVES +7.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Wolves are 6-4 O/U over the last 10, and Denver is 4-6. The Over is 5-3-2 in the last 10 meetings between the teams. The T-Wolves have gone over 100 points in 7 straight, and they went over 109 in 6 of them. As long as 1 team hits 110, this OVER 213.5 (-105) should cash.
