Notre Dame Football: Blake Fisher “Can’t Wait” for Visit This Weekend

Fisher chose Notre Dame over the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Michigan and Wisconsin among plenty of other collegiate powerhouses that offered him a scholarship.

Tuesday it was announced by Rivals in their new top-100 rankings that five Notre Dame players were on the list, tied with only Ohio State for the most by any school in the nation.

The highest ranked player on that list for Notre Dame checked in at 18, offensive tackle Blake Fisher of Avon, Indiana.

Fisher let it be known on Twitter on Wednesday that he’ll be back on campus this weekend.

Rivals ranks Fisher as not only the 18th best player in next year’s recruiting class but the top overall player in Indiana next season and the fourth highest offensive tackle in the entire country.

Fisher chose Notre Dame over the likes of Alabama, Auburn, Michigan and Wisconsin among plenty of other collegiate powerhouses that offered him a scholarship.  As you can probably guess, Fisher looks like an alien compared to the other high-schoolers in his highlight tape, one that you can see right here:

Notre Dame Football: Chip Long Out as O-C

Notre Dame set a team record for points scored this year, averaging 37.1 per contest. That on its own makes you wonder if there is something more to this story, however,

In what has become news-heavy afternoon it appears Notre Dame will be on the hunt for a new offensive coordinator.

Despite a team-record for most points scored in a season this past fall, Bryan Driskell of Irish Maven reports that Chip Long is out as O-C and that both Notre Dame and Long are ready for fresh starts.

Notre Dame set a team record for points scored this year, averaging 37.1 per contest. That on its own makes you wonder if there is something more to this story, however, it is worth noting that the Irish did combine to score just 31 points against the two best defenses on their schedule this year, Georgia and Michigan.

So who replaces Long?

Tommy Rees is named in the report as a candidate for the job and that some sources have indicated he’ll get an audition by calling plays in the Camping World Bowl.

Personally I’ve got nothing against Rees and he’s clearly been a man on the rise in the coaching world, even if he didn’t get a second interview for Northwestern’s recent O-C opening. Doesn’t just promoting him though seem like the easy way out?

There is a class of offensive stars set to be here, especially in the 2021 recruiting class.

I know that Joe Burrow isn’t coming with whoever the next O-C is, but how do you know the next Joe Brady isn’t out there if you don’t at least go look?

Notre Dame Football: Hamilton Earns National Honors Again

Another week has come and gone and more hardware is headed towards freshman safety Kyle Hamilton.

Another week has come and gone and more hardware is headed towards freshman safety Kyle Hamilton.

After recording his fourth interception of the season and three tackles versus Boston College, Hamilton was named to the Pro Football Focus College Football Week 13 Eckrich Team of the Week.

Pro Football Focus summed up Hamilton’s week with the following:

The Fighting Irish have a bright future with Hamilton roaming the backend of their defense. He recorded four total tackles against bost College and saw three passes come his way as the primary coverage defender. Allowing just one reception for seven yards, Hamilton broke up another and intercepted the third pass his way to see just a 2.8 passer rating into his coverage.

Hamilton’s four interceptions are tied for the most by any freshman in the nation, unfortunately that target he allowed after his interception evened up his totals for the year between personal interceptions and receptions allowed – an absurd stat to consider.

With Isaiah Pryor committed to play in the secondary next year you can’t help but feel good about the future of Notre Dame’s secondary as Hamilton appears to be one of the schools all-time greats in the making.

Class of 2022 running back Nicholas Singleton of Reading, Pennsylvania was on campus for Saturday’s 40-7 win over Boston College and walked away from his visit with a little more than just a t-shirt from the bookstore.

Singleton, listed as 5’11” and 195 pounds walked out of his visit with an official scholarship offer.

Singleton also made an unofficial visit to campus for the USC game back in October.  The Notre Dame offer is the eighth he’s listed as receiving, joining Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, West Virginia and William & Mary.
