North Carolina at Notre Dame odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s North Carolina Tar Heels at Notre Dame Fighting Irish odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The North Carolina Tar Heels (4-3, 3-3 ACC) and No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-1, Independent) meet Saturday at Notre Dame Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the North Carolina vs. Notre Dame odds and lines, and make our expert college football picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings according to the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

The Tar Heels outlasted the Miami Hurricanes 45-42 last time out on Oct. 16. UNC had two weeks to prepare for its first true road outing since Sept. 3, although some might consider a neutral-site game Sept. 25 in Atlanta against Georgia Tech as a road contest.

The Irish posted a 31-16 win over USC as 7.5-point favorites last time out, and Notre Dame also won 32-29 at Virginia Tech in its most recent game against an ACC foe. The Over/Under has alternated in each of the past six for the Irish.

North Carolina at Notre Dame odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Notre Dame 37, North Carolina 31

Money line

NOTRE DAME (-190) is just a little more than I typically care to wager on a money line play, as my personal limit is generally -180. However, I am more comfortable playing the Irish straight up than playing a line of three and a hook.

Against the spread

NOTRE DAME -3.5 (-115) is worth a small-unit play. The Irish have covered four of the past five games overall, going for 27 or more points in four of those outings. However, it’s a risky play, as North Carolina +3.5 (-107) can score plenty of points.

Over/Under

OVER 61.5 (-115) is the play here. UNC has hit the Over in four of the past six games overall, going for 471.3 total yards per game to rank 15th in the nation.

The Heels are also 20th overall with 36.9 PPG while allowing 28.9 PPG to rank 92nd in the country. Notre Dame has posted 31.0 PPG while coughing up 23.1 PPG. This one has the potential to be a real track meet.

First look: North Carolina at Notre Dame odds and lines

Previewing the North Carolina at Notre Dame Week 9 matchup, with college football odds, trends and head-to-head records.

The North Carolina Tar Heels (4-3) pay a visit to South Bend, Ind., to take on the No. 11 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (6-1) on Saturday night. The contest at Notre Dame Stadium is slated to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the North Carolina vs. Notre Dame odds and lines; check back for our college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

North Carolina is playing in its first true road game since a season-opening 17-10 loss at Virginia Tech Sept. 3. The Tar Heels are just 4-7 on the road in Mack Brown’s tenure as head coach (2019-present). UNC is looking to avenge a 31-17 loss to Notre Dame last season. The Tar Heels led that game, 17-14, late in the first half, but they produced just 58 yards over six drives after halftime.

Notre Dame is coming off a 31-16 win over USC Saturday. The Irish led that game, 24-3, heading into the fourth quarter. They went a combined 9-for-13 in converting third-and fourth-down opportunities. That’s an area where UND has struggled for much of the season: the team’s 38.1% rate of converting third downs ranks 84th in the nation.
