Clemson picks up commitment from four-star Texas wideout

Lone Star State wideout commits to Clemson.

It has been a hot couple of weeks in recruiting for Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program, as they just picked up their fifth commitment this week in the 2023 class.

Four-star wide receiver Noble Johnson announced on social media Saturday that he would be committing to play football for Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. The Rockwall High School (TX) product chose the Tigers over Louisville, Ole Miss, Arkansas and Tennessee.

According to 247Sports composite rankings, the four-star recruit is their No.369 overall player and No.48 wide receiver in the 23′ class. As a rising senior, Johnson is expected to play in this year’s 2023 Under Armor All-American Game.

The Tigers have made a big splash this week with Johnson being the most recent addition. He is the ninth commitment in Clemson’s 2023 class.

Clemson has landed the verbal commitment of a top wide receiver prospect from the Lone Star State.

Rockwall (Texas) High School four-star Noble Johnson announced his commitment to the Tigers around noon ET on Saturday.

Johnson, a 6-foot-2, 205-pound rising senior in the class of 2023, chose Clemson over his other four finalists – Arkansas, Louisville, Ole Miss and Tennessee.

Johnson, who has collected more than 30 total offers, earned an offer from Clemson after working out at the Dabo Swinney Camp on June 2. He is rated as a four-star prospect by ESPN, Rivals and the 247Sports Composite, and ranked as high as the No. 240 overall prospect in the 2023 class by Rivals.

As a junior, Johnson recorded 49 receptions for 875 yards and eight receiving touchdowns for Rockwall. He is committed to play in the 2023 Under Armour All-America Game.

Johnson becomes the Tigers’ fifth commitment this week and the ninth commitment in Clemson’s 2023 recruiting class overall, joining Briarwood Christian (Birmingham, Ala.) five-star quarterback Chris Vizzina, Edison (Miami, Fla.) four-star wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph, St. John’s (Washington, D.C.) four-star defensive end David Ojiegbe, Vandegrift (Austin, Texas) four-star offensive lineman Ian Reed, Westlake (Atlanta, Ga.) four-star cornerback Avieon Terrell, First Baptist Academy (Naples, Fla.) four-star tight end Olsen Patt Henry, St. Francis (Alpharetta, Ga.) four-star cornerback Branden Strozier and Sumner (Riverview, Fla.) four-star safety Kylen Webb.

Clemson has been named in the top-5 of another 2023 recruit following a big recruiting weekend for the Tigers.

Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik could be adding another fellow Texan to the Tigers locker room. Following his camp visit and offer from Clemson this past weekend, 2023 wide receiver Noble Johnson announced his top five via Twitter on Sunday, which included Clemson, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Louisville, and Arkansas.

Hailing from Rockwall High School, Johnson is 6-foot-2 and weighs in at 205 pounds. The Texas native recorded 49 receptions and 8 touchdowns for 875 yards in his junior season. Johnson is currently ranked in the 247Sports Composite as the No. 337 national prospect and the No. 43 ranked wide receiver in the 2023 class.

The Tigers 2023 recruiting class currently consists of verbal commitments from four-star quarterback Christian Vizzina, four-star wide receiver Nathaniel Joseph, four-star defensive end David Ojiegbe, three-star cornerback Branden Strozier, and four-star cornerback Avieon Terrell, brother of former Tiger and current Atlanta Falcon A.J. Terrell.
