The Pelicans (20-25) have won three of their last four games, and Zion Williamson has averaged 38.5 points per game in his last two starts.

Advice and prediction

The Pelicans scored a 120-115 overtime win over the Celtics in late February in New Orleans, but Lonzo Ball is questionable for Monday’s game. The Celtics have bigger injury issues, as All-Star guard Jaylen Brown is out along with Tristan Thompson and Semi Ojeleye, but Evan Fournier is available.

With Brown out, I like the under 229.5 on Monday. New Orleans is the top over team in the league, but has been playing better defense in the last week, and has hit the under in four of their last five games. The first game between these two teams would have easily hit under this number if not for overtime, and the Celtics will be missing Brown’s production.

Prediction: Celtics 114, Pelicans 108

Chargers would benefit from adding another offensive lineman via free agency

The Los Angeles Chargers have taken major strides to improving the offensive line, but the work is far from over.

The Chargers have been steadily rebuilding the offensive line this offseason, signing center Corey Linsley and guards Matt Feiler and Oday Aboushi to deals. But there’s still work to be done.

Los Angeles has solidified four starting spots on the offensive line, but for a team that has dealt with injuries up front in seasons prior, quality depth pieces are necessities.

Therefore, L.A. would benefit from dipping into the free agency pool to find a quality backup or two.

Guards that make sense for the Bolts include Larry Warford, Kelechi Osemele, Austin Blythe, Zach Fulton, Nick Easton, Lane Taylor, James Carpenter, among others.

I expect the starting left tackle position to be addressed through the draft, but there’s nothing wrong with taking a veteran who can serve as a swing option on either side like Dennis Kelly, Ricky Wagner, Cameron Fleming or Roderick Johnson.

There’s also the possibility of re-signing one of their own starters from last season, which is made up of Sam Tevi, Forrest Lamp and Ryan Groy.

The bottom line is that the Chargers know they can make a deep run with quarterback Justin Herbert at the helm. The team has the weapons around him, but they need to ensure the protection is going to be fortified the entire season.

With the cap space that Los Angeles has, there’s no reason why they can’t get him what he needs to play to his full potential in 2021 and beyond.

Chargers re-sign TE Stephen Anderson

The Los Angeles Chargers are filling out their tight end room after losing Hunter Henry.

The Chargers are bringing back one of their own players.

Los Angeles is re-signing tight end Stephen Anderson, according to the team’s official website.

The move came a week after Hunter Henry signed with the Patriots. Also in correspondence, L.A. signed Jared Cook to a one-year deal.

Anderson, 28, played all 16 games last season with three starts. He made eight catches for 106 yards.

Even though Anderson played only 139 offensive snaps, he was a key special teams player. He saw playing time on 303 special teams snaps in 2020.

When he was on the field for offensive snaps, Anderson was a plus blocker and yards after the catch asset.

In his career, Anderson has played 45 career games with eight starts, posting 44 catches for 541 yards and two touchdowns.
