Shohei Ohtani accidentally fouled a ball right into his groin

Ouch.

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani is perhaps the best baseball player on the planet, but even he’s not immune to a brutal blooper.

During Game 3 of the NLCS at Citi Field on Wednesday night, Ohtani accidentally hit a foul ball so hard to the ground that it popped up into the air and nailed him in the groin.

This is seriously a batter’s worst nightmare, as 99 percent of foul balls usually land well outside of where you’re standing.

However, this hit somehow went right for Ohtani’s groin. Gravity didn’t do its job, and the Dodgers virtuoso looked to be in serious pain. Yowza.

This Francisco Lindor NLCS Game 3 play proved why his Gold Glove snub was absurd

Francisco Lindor does not need a Gold Glove to be incredible.

New York Mets superstar Francisco Lindor further proved on Wednesday night why his not being a Gold Glove finalist is absolutely ridiculous.

During Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Lindor stunned the fans at Citi Field. He snagged a Mookie Betts hit in the top of the fifth inning and somehow threw Betts from the other side of the diamond out before he got to first base.

Even the broadcast noted how silly it is that Lindor somehow didn’t make the shortlist for the Gold Glove this year.

This play cements what a missed opportunity it was to honor Lindor for his outstanding season in the outfield. New York will take plays like this every day of the week, though.

Mets’ Tyrone Taylor snagged the catch of the 2024 MLB postseason

WHAT A CATCH!!!

New York Mets outfielder Tyrone Taylor made the catch of the 2024 MLB postseason so far in Game 3 of the NLCS at Citi Field on Wednesday night.

As Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Tommy Edman got a long hit to the warning track on a Luis Severino pitch in the top of the second inning, Taylor made sure it didn’t hit the ground with this Matrix-like acrobatic catch.

Taylor almost collided with fellow Met Starling Marte on the play, which made his composure to snag the ball all the more impressive.

You’ll want to watch this one over and over again, which you can below with the broadcast of the moment and a close-up angle of Taylor making the jaw-dropping catch.

Shohei Ohtani seemed to jokingly boo along with Mets fans before NLCS Game 3

Shohei Ohtani is a very good sport.

Los Angeles Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani had a delightful sense of humor about New York Mets fans booing him ahead Wednesday night’s Game 3 of the NLCS.

As Ohtani jogged over to greet his fellow Dodgers, boos started roaring in from Mets fans at Citi Field as the series made its way to New York.

Ohtani had a big smile on his face for all of it, seemingly booing along with the Mets fans in jest.

If that’s the approach you can take to being booed before a major playoff game, you’ve got your priorities in order.

Ohtani being able to laugh this off is a very good sign for Los Angeles fans.

Why the Mets have the number 40 on their eye black for NLCS Game 3

What a classy move by the Mets.

The New York Mets kept their recent tradition of hyping up one of their teammates with their eye black during the 2024 MLB postseason on Wednesday night.

Mets players like Jose Quintana, Jesse Winker and Sean Manaea sported the number 40 for their eye black ahead of Game 3 of the NLCS against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Why that specific number? It belongs to Mets pitcher Luis Severino, who was slated to start Game 3 on the mound for New York.

This is a really cool way for Mets players to honor their teammates. It won’t be shocking to see Severino play well with this kind of encouragement behind him in the dugout.

Foul-mouthed Phillies fans have so many NSFW things to say in a cathartic post-Game 7 video

Leave it to Phillies fans to find creative new ways to curse out their favorite baseball team.

Philadelphia Phillies fans becoming completely unhinged after losing is hysterically on brand.

Fans of Philadelphia sports teams are going through it right now. In the last year, nearly every major professional team in the city has brutally lost in the post-season.

The Philadelphia Eagles lost in the Super Bowl. Philadelphia Union, the city’s soccer team, lost in the MLS Cup. The Philadelphia 76ers did Philadelphia 76ers things. The Phillies lost a World Series and just face-planted in the NLCS. Woof.

Philly is the city of “brotherly love” and the “brotherly shove,” but hell hath no fury like sports fans scorned.

Warning: NSFW language.

In a video posted by Brandon Satterfield of Q102 Philly, fans were asked what they think of the Phillies after their latest post-season blunder.

“[Expletive] the Phillies, honestly,” one fan said. “Let’s trade the whole [expletive] team. This team [expletive] blew it today,” another chimed in.

Oh my.

But they weren’t entirely done letting out their emotions. Toward the end of the cathartic video, one poor soul had had enough of talking about the team. “Move [expletive] on! I’m crying instead of dancing!” Yikes.

If you know a Phillies fan, please hug them.

The Diamondbacks used Meek Mill to hilariously troll the Phillies after huge NLCS win

How long do you think they’ve been sitting on this?

Hold up. Wait a minute. Y’all thought I was finished?

The Arizona Diamondbacks don’t care about the narratives. They are re-writing the story. After being down two games in the NLCS, the Snakes are very much alive and rallied to beat the Philadelphia Phillies. After such a huge win, the levels of trolling have escalated to top-tier levels.

On Tuesday, Arizona went full Baker Mayfield and planted a Diamondbacks flag on the field of Citizens Bank Park. Whew.

But, when the team went back to the locker room to celebrate, they turned the proverbial and literal bass up a notch.

With the good vibes flowing and plenty of celebratory drinks, Arizona blasted Meek Mill’s Dreams and Nightmares, a known hype song for the city of Philadelphia.

The opening lyrics to the track are I used to pray for times like this, to rhyme like this. So, I had to grind like that to shine like this.

The irony of the lyrics and moment is practically oozing. Holy troll job, Batman. This is a coordinated effort. Whoever decided this needs a raise.

Turn up, Diamondbacks.

MLB fans roasted Bryce Harper for wearing 76ers jersey to NLCS Game 7

The city of Philadelphia is down bad.

Bryce Harper might not want to check social media for a while.

In case you missed it, the Philadelphia Phillies are having a rough week. After winning the first two games in the NLCS, they were stunned by the Arizona Diamondbacks, who are on one of the most improbable runs that baseball has likely ever seen. In a perplexing turn of events, the Phillies’ roster, which contains otherworldly amounts of talent, ran out of gas down the stretch. Wild times.

MLB fans were so disappointed with the team’s production that they were looking for anything to blame, including clothing choice. Harper rolled up to Game 7 in the freshest Philadelphia 76ers city edition gear that money can buy, but fans were not impressed.

They immediately roasted him for specifically choosing Patrick Beverley’s jersey.

D-backs pitcher Merrill Kelly was visibly frustrated to be taken out after shutting down Phillies lineup

He was NOT thrilled.

There aren’t many more difficult tasks for a pitcher than going into Citizens Bank Park to pitch an elimination game. And Diamondbacks pitcher Merrill Kelly handled that challenge masterfully on Monday.

But if it were up to him, he would have stayed in the game longer.

With the Diamondbacks up three runs in Game 6 of the NLCS, Kelly had to navigate a fifth inning against the top of the Phillies lineup: Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner and Bryce Harper. In a three-run game, so much could go wrong against that lineup.

So, what did Kelly do? Oh, he just shut them all down with two Ks and a fly out. At that point, Kelly had to assume he had one more inning to go. Yet, D-backs manager Torey Lovullo met him on the top step and congratulated him on a job well done.

Kelly was not thrilled.

We could see as Kelly explained to his manager that he had just shut down their best players and was feeling fine for another inning. Lovullo wasn’t swaying in that decision — his starter’s night was done.

And while we have seen those decisions come back to bite managers in postseason games, Ryan Thompson pitched a scoreless sixth inning in relief.

Still, MLB fans had plenty of thoughts on that whole exchange in the dugout. Sometimes, you just have to trust your pitcher.

Diamondbacks fill Chase Field seats with ‘Snakes Alive’ signs ahead of pivotal Game 4 vs. Phillies

All reports indicate the snakes are, indeed, alive.

The Arizona Diamondbacks likely kept their World Series hopes alive on Thursday night with a walk-off 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the NLCS.

The win marked Arizona’s first in the NLCS since 2001. That team went on to win the World Series, and this year’s squad will hope the same fate awaits it as it avoided falling into a 3-0 hole and cut the Phillies’ series lead to just 2-1.

During the Diamondbacks’ Game 3 home win at Chase Field in Phoenix, a fan was spotted on the broadcast holding a sign that simply read “Snakes Alive.”

That has apparently become the rallying cry for the team ahead of a potentially pivotal Game 4 on Saturday night. Before the game, stadium operations staff delivered “Snakes Alive” signs to seemingly every seat behind home plate.

The snakes are indeed still alive, but if they want to avoid having to become just the 15th team in MLB history to overcome a 3-1 deficit, they need to win on Friday night in the second of three home games before the series flips back to Philadelphia.
